The Kiwi forward Michael Smith (Canterbury, Cas, Hull FC, York, Cas, Hull KR and Barrow). A big guy, who was also quick, had good hands and a decent step, but who seemed to fade away after a short peak when he looked absolutely world class.

There's a Japanese YouTuber called Kuga - https://www.youtube.com/@kugastravel5180 - who does a lot of sleeper train journeys around the world. His videos are a pretty decent guide to the various services.

Nemophila are a Japanese band who, in addition to their original work, like to release videos of cover versions. I mainly picked this one because of the face paint.

I’d definitely welcome an opening up of options of rail travel to continent even starting from the north.
Hopefully double decker trains, which I’ve used travelling in the Netherlands before, have a positive effect on price.
The re-working of track infrastructure for double decker trains to be viable on the UK's older train lines would be prohibitive.
I assume the Eurostar route from St Pancras was built with future compatibility either as part of the original design, or as an economically achievable upgrade.

Yes, agree that what I mean by ‘darkness’, but I wouldn’t lump it in with Nightmare on Elm Street etc.
Few movies are 100% one single genre. The better Elm Street movies have moments of humour and are also inter-generational melodrama.

Definitely wouldn’t class the latter as a horror and the weaving of fantasy elements with the darkness is what makes Pan’s Labyrinth stand out to me.
It certainly has horror elements, but they aren't the dominant element.

After a promising start, England faltered a bit and finished on 244 for 9.

Women's World Cup: Australia won the toss and chose to field.

£3.50 for a coffee at headingley, however it is from one of the actual barrista coffee outlets not a nescafe and theres also a Costa.
A lot of "barista" places serve up coffee that's little better than Nescafe, but that doesn't stop them being very presumptious when it comes to prices.
I haven't been to a Costa in years, but at least they used to do a decent ham & egg sandwich.

£37m debts this year alone.
A lot of their former fans have turned against them, as more and more was learned about their behaviour. And it's not like there's a shortage of IPA brewers in this country, after all.

Many famous British sweets are pretty much surviving on brand loyalty and jingoism these days.
A watering-down of quality, plus inflation/shrinkflation has eroded the reputation of favourites that had survived in some case for over a century.

I wouldn't be surprised if peregrines did nest on the tower. A distinctive feature of their comeback over the last few decades from the brink of British extinction has been their frequent choice to live in built up areas, with cathedrals and churches proving to be very popular nesting spots. Some years ago, when a pair set up home at Winchester Cathedral, the local birders gave the couple the obvious names - Win and Chester!

Earlier this summer we were downtown by the CN Tower and I just happened to looking at the right patch of sky with a pigeon flying past that was suddenly turned into a cloud of floating feathers when it got hit by a peregrine. Not sure if any peregrines actually nest on the tower regularly but you couldn’t get a better vantage point with plenty of humans and their waste the pigeons love.
You have to admire any aerial predator that can take out a pigeon, because they are very wary and elusive fliers.

The founder of Brewdog is a plastic punk who has allegations hanging over him of toxic and inappropriate behaviour, who is widely seen as an appalling employer and whose taxpayer-funded carbon offset forest mostly died (possibly from embarrassment).

I haven't been to Harrogate since the mid-Nineties. My main memory of that trip was finding a record shop in a basement somewhere in the centre, where I picked up some good stuff.
