I am not bothered who - and that would include my club if they didn’t cut mustard. The sport in England needs a rocket up it. We still manage to get decent support in TV and in grounds. But we all know the quality and intensity of the sport has diminished. It’s appallingly administered, badly refereed and frankly doesn’t not have the player base to sustain 12 quality English clubs. I am a firm believer that something radical needs to take place in England before it fails.

12 teams. 2 in France, 1 in London - those 3 protected, regardless of the system. The rest from the north. We don’t have the player base for a larger competition. Genuinely hope this NRL bid comes to fruition and is successful.

When we made some breaks in the first half, it got very loud. When there was a big hit, the crowd got loud. Ultimately, the crowd was a mirror image of the team’s performance.

You need the team to perform to get an atmosphere going…

For the Aussies, whilst Walsh got all the plaudits, and Grant closely followed, I thought Reuben Cotter was exceptional.

Biggest worry for me. The only two players not picked today with any more punch is Oldezki and Nsemba. The former should have been in and the latter badly off form. Nobody else would have provided any more grunt nor penetration. It’s a massive worry.

That’s a fair shout BB. It was a fairly decent set and kick from us as well. Very poor chase.

This. We got battered up the middle and on the edges. Our props had no aggression, fight or penetration. Same in the second row albeit I thought KPP played well. Knowles was good and I thought Trout was decent when on. The rest of the forwards were rubbish. Both hookers were decent - Litten lively and tried hard. But we desperately need to find some props… I don’t think the pack made a single line break or bust a tackle today. Not one. Really disappointed with Welsby. He needs a rocket up in his ######. It was clear first half the Aussies knew he was a danger and absolutely shut him down every time. But he was lethargic at times retrieving the ball. And his attempt on Crichton was diabolical. Not good enough. He’s not to blame for the defeat - the lack of grunt and aggression is. But I’d drop him next week. Utterly deflated…
