  1. Behave, Parky's managed that on his own in a few threads.
  2. I don't like it for many of the reasons mentioned. We'll start panicking as soon as the bottom 4 SL (or whatever we're calling it) clubs thump the top 4 Champ (or whatever we're calling it) clubs, and probably start again with something else. For me one of the litmus tests is: is it feasible that this system is robust enough to use for the next 10-20 years? I'd say not.
  3. The weekend starts here in VW's house.
  4. And it'll be topped up by two years if you beat Rervers on Good Friday.
  5. Wow. That's real kneejerk stuff. Good luck to him I suppose.
  6. Hull FC are a club with many strange business practices, but their habit of extending the contracts of coaches before they've even decided whether they like the coach or not is particularly mystifying.
  7. EDIT - no longer relevant due to merged threads. Ta.
  8. I understand Pearson has been putting the money in the right places and the Hull backroom/youth structures are as good as anyone's now. Long term they should be in a good position... provided they don't lose 3000-4000 fans in the meantime.
  9. I would have agreed with this until you signed Feka.
  10. Martyn, Neil and Gareth will be on a minute to say this is a fnatastic piece of investigative journalism, and to compare Jon Wilkin to Deepthroat.EDIT: Perhaps not quite a minute, I'm sure there's buffet and champagne at Salford to get through first.
  11. It does make you wonder what LPL's agenda is. I suppose I'd guess they've seen the negativity and apocalyptic nature of posts on here and decided to jump on board.
  12. Was on about the Bulls fella, who does it twice in that piece.
  13. It really grates on me when people say 'myself' or 'yourself' when they actually mean 'me' or 'you'.
  14. It seemed to be a reference to the speed of his movement when he received the ball. I'd agree that Hull kept him quiet, but the threat was clearly there if Hull had lost concentration just once.
  15. Back to the original question, and I'd say definitively yes - we do expect too much. I've mentioned before that I've had one or two minor successes in getting people to watch the game out here, people without any inkling of RL's history and without any of the inbuilt prejudices Brits may have. I had a Germany guy round to watch Saturday's game, and it was the first RL match he'd ever seen. In no particular order, his comments were. - The big hits and speed of the game were impressive - Hull looked they were seeing a rugby ball for the first time - It was an exciting contest all the way through - That Tomkins is skilful - There were a lot of empty spaces for a final - It would good to attend a game
  16. Not in any way ironic. Warrington wanted to keep the u23s and promote youth talent that way, but were outvoted. But Warrington can't just sit back and do nothing as a point of principle, so are playing the cards they're dealt and using the DR 'system'.
  17. He won't go away, will he. Great news. As someone said on the Wire RLFans board, he's never had any of the attributes associated with youth (great speed, perfect fitness) anyway, but the skills he has always had (his brain, his hands and his boot) are as sharp as ever. Would've been gutted to see him wear any other shirt as was rumoured.
  18. Excellent posts on here by Johnoco, GJ, JohnM and a couple of others. But hats off totally to JTBC for some cracking posts.
  19. A childish Leigh fan, eh? Who'da thunk it. Looks like they're well on the way to winning this one, good stuff.
  20. I'll get you an answer once the legal eagles have cleared it.
  21. On what channel was the game televised in France? Anyone else think Canetman will be the first to snitch to the French authorities?
  22. Only because there's a ridiculous two-week gap between fixtures. If the gap between QF and SF was closer to that between R5 and QF you could quite easily get a big crowd in France. Particularly if they'd drawn London, far in excess of what they'd get elsewhere.
  23. Euston to Warrington Bank Quay, then the train from Bank Quay to N-le-W.
  24. We should probably scrap the neutral venue ideal, since the RFL manage to make a complete hash of it each time.
