  1. 'Easy to get to' is a stretch. It's in the middle of an as-yet-undeveloped area far from anywhere, 1.5 miles from the edge of the city centre. It'd have to be a hell of a fanzone.
  2. It's a good idea but doesn't have to be annual - the novelty would soon go. Cumbria should certainly play a fixture every year though.
  3. Now Ive looked again, it looks like the 'BULLS' is the top of a bath towel the bull's got wrapped around it, chest-high.
  4. Strewth that sounds exciting. Get Worzel round you can watch it together.
  5. Until head coaches and club doctors are up on criminal negligence charges for episodes like this, they'll keep happening. Utterly sickening and hope the guy is ok.
  6. I don't think there was anything unconscious about Australia getting a penalty on the 2nd tackle of the match for the very 'offence' they'd spent the whole week suggesting England had got away with.
  7. Do England's men's football team have a meltdown when they underperform in big tournaments? Yes.
  8. What were the skills he showed yesterday? Variety of ways of ####ing someone in the head?
  9. Who are 'we'? I've always believed that, at the point we admit a club into our league system, they should be part of 'us' as much as Batley or Hull. And it is on RL Commercial to secure a good deal for Super League from us having a French presence. It's no more Toulouse's duty than it is Huddersfield's.
  10. Featherstone is hosting the BARLA National Cup final today. Brighouse v Orrell, should be a good one. Sadly probably with a greater profile than yesterday's international. To their credit, Featherstone make their ground available for all sorts of games, all year round. Cheap and cheerful.
  11. Imagine how good Tonga will be down under though.
  12. Yep you could just email the slides to the lads down under. But they'll miss out on Last and Briers dressing up as Anni-Frid and Agnetha and lip-synching to Waterloo.
  13. Mid-season catch-up, slideshow on Agincourt/Waterloo, job done.
  14. Hard agree. I haven't seen Young in the NRL all year but based on GraveyardJohnny's appraisals I was expecting 2002-series Karl Pratt to turn up. Like Farnworth and Smithies, it stands out like a sore thumb that Young plays in the NRL because he runs and tackles with a bit more swagger and conviction. Some of our SL players look just slightly in awe.
  15. Pair of belters those. Way too many lilac/pink/luminous green away kits in SL this season so pleased we've gone for the red and black, which is a colour scheme we've used a couple of times before.
  16. I don't think there's a combination of players available to Wane that wins this series. The players he brought in today improved on their equivalents last week; Smithies and Watkins were both really good, Oledzski and Brimson were improvements but not telling ones. The starting forwards set a far more assertive tone this week than they did last. Lees played better than I thought he was able to; McMeeken was a handful. I don't put our inability to score soley down to the halfbacks; there was a lack of variety to all our attacking play and some of that has to be about the runners as well as the halfs. That said I'd like to see Lewis play at 6 next week. Williams toiled today and it didn't work. I don't think Lewis makes a massive difference but he's worth a try. Playing him on the bench to bring on for ten minutes just made no sense.
  17. 'Excuse me mate, have you got Sky Sports 17 for the rugby league?'
  18. Not sure if there is an Everton thread. The main bowl of the ground is fantastic, truly brilliant views and the atmosphere was superb. Certainly a fitting theatre for a test match. There are a fair few things to sort out though. The signage was poor, almost apologetic. Fine if you go there week in week out, unnecessarily difficult if you are going as a one off. The toilet blocks are poorly designed and seemed extremely inadequate, leading to some fairly ugly scenes where I was of enormous queues and people getting very angry with people who were trying to push in. I can't believe there would be so little stewarding and crowd support for a football match and that hasn't helped. The transport has been absolutely tragic getting to and from Warrington, and as I write from Lime Street it still looks like a warzone with a series of tiny trains leaving with barely half the people who wanted to get on managing to. Considering Northern Trains are supposedly a major partner of RFL, it's embarrassing how unprepared they are. It's been a good day but unnecessarily painful.
  19. It's mental. Shaun's 'proper rugby league fans' might be turning up at 4.
  20. Sorry posted this in the wrong thread!
  21. Spotted you today in town, didnt realise you'd been stood up.
  22. Very much so. There's never a guarantee a good academy team develops into a clutch of SL standard players, but winning the academy GF having gone unbeaten all season suggests this is good a chance as you can have. Ewan Irwin already looked the part in that first team game against Rovers towards the end of the season.
  23. Yes I didn't mean to have a go at Thewlis, he has proven to be a decent backup winger and deserves his extension.
  24. Warrington retained: King, Stone, Powell, Crowther and Jake Thewlis. A pretty uninspiring quintet. Out: Tai Not in: Pangai Junior.
