I am mostly pro-BBC, despite them clogging the schedules with the tripe of Eastenders and a slew of creepily arch antiques experts and glorified estate agents, but The Symphony of Medinah indicates that some folk just need shooting. Right in the nuts.
Shocking, just wrong on every level.

Just finished watching The Honourable Woman. Eight episodes, first three were okay, last five were woeful but I held on in the hope of it turning itself around.
I won't get that time back.
Thanks for that. I have them all saved on iplayer and was half dreading watching them.

Excellent! Is there an online version?
Not yet. Still seems to be someone doing upholstery in the Gers (ooer!).
I would recommend a gentle perusal in your local branch of Smiths - while of course endeavouring to cover up Rugby Union magazines with copies of Gentleman's Itchings monthly.
My wife got caught doing this at the Eurotunnel branch last month and received a quizical yet satisfying look from the shop assistant.

I can't find the long ago thread "League in unusual places" so:
In the current (Autumn) issue of Living France magazine (quite unfeasibly smug) there is an article on some fat bloke who makes sausages while sporting a Catalan Dragons t shirt.

Got my hat trick on the Chain on Radcliffe & Maconie last Monday with this
Wonderful song, and when I showed my mate the video last year he went
"chuffing hell mate, that's your wife dressed as Margot Leadbetter"

And a very big TRL welcome if you please?
To Lewis, an 8 week old Heinz 57 puppy who has today appeared at Timtum Towers. I always wanted to below out the name a la John Thaw / Morse and now have the opportunity.

I have a big silly beard, and jeans that are too tight for me (cos I can't afford any larger sizes at the mo).
Am I a hipster?
Perhaps not as the Hull FC fans the other week unkindly referred to me as a grumpy Father Christmas.
Foodwise, and back on topic, I had a fantastic salad, chicken, onion wrap on Saturday night in Perpignan. €4 and it was worth every centime. Late night, fast food at its finest.

A couple of nights ago, Interpol and the Arctic Monkeys at the roman arena in Nimes.
The AM's are not really my thing but put on quite a show, and the drummer doesn't half give the skins a whack.
Interpol were quite simply the loudest band I have ever witnessed. The noise made my eyeballs hurt. Venue staff were handing out earplugs!

Not listening yet, but I'm hoping to persuade Mme Timtum to take a week off work in November so that we can meet up in Paris for:
- 15th Lloyd Cole - start with some 80's jangle easy listening unless he's doing his mildly bonkers electronica
- 16th Jesus & Mary Chain
- 17th Einsturzende Neubauten
- 18th Joan as Police Woman - unspeakably marvellous
- 19th A day off for shopping and other worldly pursuits
- 20th Electric 6
- 21st Another day off
- 22nd Wedding Present - by which time all of the songs will undoubtedly sound the same.
Chances of this happening in its entirety, close to zero I would have thought. A gentle pick and choose could be on the cards.
Hmmm. So far a resounding no….. Some work to be done here quite clearly.
And back to the subject in hand
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Live from KCRW on that spotify app thingy. A very splendid indeed version of Mercy Seat.

I wasn't really listening... then heard the words sausages and Rugby League...
If ever there was a combination of words to make a chap wotsit up his ears….
-
They do give me a nice bit of publicity every now and then them two (Radcliffe & Maconie).
And I managed to mention rugby league!
Hope I didn't come across as too much of a posterior….

Photo shoot over. Done by a mate of mine for his wife's article on Mister Saucisse for some magazine.
My media campaign continues apace….

Tomorrow I go under the knife to get my elbow sorted.
Bon récupération mon ami.

A chap is coming tomorrow to Chateau Timtum for a photo shoot. I've promised my wife that I won't do anything risqué or that I might regret by the following morning.

I've just been woken up by the 4eme foreign regiment attacking my village! Big bangs, smoke and blanks aplenty.

The sheep that have been on the bit of land right next to my house since November are off to the abattoir. Better that than what happened to the last bunch who were subjected to a "home style" dispatching.

There is a strong wind from the Sahara blowing with the result that everything round here has a fine coating of sand.
This phenomenon always reminds me of this:

On my recent trip back to the UK I was given:
- a half bottle of Glenmorangie
- a bottle of the Black Grouse
- and a 16 yr old Lagavulin
The no spirits rule is coming under some serious mental siege…..

My sausages were reviewed on Radcliffe & Maconie on BBC 6Music yesterday.

Off to Bize Minervois today with my good friend audois.
We turned up for a charity do where we ate fish, chips and mushy peas at 11.30 on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
The highlight was a discovery in the big barn of the property: a 1914 - 18 vintage, Model T Ford flat bed truck. Apparently, the US army brought thousands of them over in 1917/18 and then left them when they returned after the conflict had ended. This particular one was in use until the sixties for bringing in the grape harvest.

The ludicrously funny Cabin Pressure on Radio 4 Extra.
An ensemble cast and script of the highest order.

I rather think that has made my day.
Now for lessons in how to post and quote from a mobile phone....

I've just worked my way through the Dr James Fox "Tale of three cities" - Vienna 1908, Paris 1928, and New York 1951.
Thoroughly enjoyed the series and have learned a lot. Would heartily recommend it for a passionate yet not up himself arty type bloke describing three ages which, though long gone, still resonate today.
Next up, the full Peaky Blinders first series. I only managed to catch the first two last time round. Am already smitten by the undercover barmaid.
