Nikon have announced the D3X. It's available now on pre-order from Calumet.

I'm sure if I look for it I can find the post where I recommended Boosh to you cos you hadn't seen 'em. The radio series and the first two TV series are top drawer - the third got progressively weaker. They're getting a bit too 'look at us, we're a bit mad'.

I doubt it - although I have actually only been stopped once and then by British Transport Police at Baker Street (on an anti-terrorist excuse). Given that I spend a lot of time on the South Bank where every building has its own mad security (even the much photo'd London Eye has imbeciles in jackets who like to wnak off over how tough they can be to a four-eyes with an SLR) I've been quite lucky to avoid being got for so long. And to agree for a moment with ECT - the D300/D700/D3 combo for Nikon at the moment is pretty jaw dropping. It's just a shame that what trickled down into the D90 was rubbish video.

Just make sure you look through the viewfinder rather than the screen on the back and you'll be right. Get Photoshop or PS Elements as well. The bundled software for Canon is better than for Nikon but you need to get one of those ASAP.

I have to agree with the 'neither' comments. In both ranges there's a better camera only a tad more expensive - the A300(or is it A350) or the D60. If you go with Sony, Canon or Pentax/Samsung there will be a ton of lenses you could expand with very easily (Sony takes old Konica Minolta lenses). Nikon's budget cameras only take AF-S lenses (motor on the lens) which whilst it means they are techincally better lenses (quieter, faster, autofocus) it means the range isn't as broad and the secondhand market is virtually non existent. That said, I have a D40x (a D60 without a dust cleaner basically) and it rocks.

Dunno, relying on dodgy interweb streams I couldn't find anyone doing the England-PI game and so didn't see any of it. Ian Robertson was impressed but that's not really an indication of anything. About to watch Scotland v New Zealand though - until it gets turned into Igglepiggle by a demanding child.

I put my comment about the ref in Uninteresting Trivial Facts, which is where I try and contain my union opinions. There was a lot of standing about waiting ... I left well before the end.
