If hudersfield had an half decent kicker this game would have been over with 10 mins to go.

I have never seen any confirmation as to long term intention. On the face of things those seats look ok and if that fence is altered that would make a decent little stand. Plus the cas floodlights are really poor and old fashionioned . You would think they would remove them too and bring them up to modern standards when the ground gets up graded. That would also improve the view from the seats

Rugby was the dominant sport in Huddersfield upto the late 1910's when Huddersfield Town under Herbert Chapman became successful.
Both clubs had similar histories throughout the 20th century but football is now king in the birthplace of the sport.
Well reading through this thread and appology if missed, no one seems to have mentioned keighley and whithaven as non soccer towns

There has been a team in the capital in one guise or another for over forty years. There has been the odd high light or two in that time but somehow it still feels the game is just hanging on down there. It's such a pity and I would hate for it to wither away or just hang on in the lower leagues

Its really tough on London at the moment and like others have said people are not going to turn out to see one sided thrashings every week. I really think the game needs a strong competitive side down there. I can understand the logic of dropping down a league to get more competitive games but I believe it would be far easier to grow the club if they are in the top flight. Unfortunately easier said than done

I realise I have been mischievous with some of my comments over the last week or so. Last night was probably one of the bigger home games of the season. Bank holiday game against local rivals. Large crowd following on from that recently hard fought cup game. The Fev lights are poor by modern standards, I understand that as money is always tight within our game. However for the club to neglect their up keep and play a game with so many of the individual lights not working is inexcusable in my opinion. The club knew the game was happening and it was an evening KO, surely someone could have at least changed the faulty bulbs in preparation.
I agree it was a close game and the outcome was always in doubt, but to me the terrible lighting did not do justice to the good game that was played by both teams in very tough conditions.

I'm cold, wet and we lost. Best entertainment for a couple of seasons though, enjoyable and close game. Time will tell given first match of the season for me, but feels like it will be more enjoyable without any pressure on for promotion.
Enjoyable !!! I don't know how you found it so. Mind you even ugly women look better in the dark. All I saw was mud and shadows so glad the visits to that place are over for the season

Fair play to Hull, look a totally different side this half. Could the half time in this game be the turning point of Hulls season, it's certainly given them signs of hope and something to build on

I think most people know, but are afraid to admit that the problems are further up, Hull have been terrible for years, through 4 different coaches and countless players, it can't all be down to them surely?
I see your point but some of it must be down to him. Nevertheless I also think the culture and ethics of all organisations is set by the person(s) at the very top.
I still think Smith won't survive and I just wonder who will be the next patsy out there who will shortly be taking over his job.

Yes, Fev are never likely to be there biggest club. Still no reason that they shouldn't be up there until we reach the promised land of "big city" teams however. It just needs someone with deep pockets and willing to keep throwing money at it long term, same as Huddersfield, Leigh, Warrington and so many other clubs that are benefactor dependent. At the moment however, that just feels like wishful thinking for those of us who dare to dream.
Pontefract, Knottingley and Ackworth, come on ! Ponte and Knottingley have far more Cas fans. Why not really scrape the barrel and add Purston and Wraggby. Fev never has and never will have a bigger fan base than those four clubs you mentioned. But like you say, no harm in dreaming

Well if you started supporting when you were 8 years old, this must be the year you get your birthday card from the king. Or did you start supporting when you were even younger. Anyhow you have my respect , I am no spring chicken myself and I don't envisage the day I will turn my back on my club

Being realistic and looking at the way the game is going with IMG etc. If you wanted to build a club to compete at the highest level amongst the top clubs, the last place you would choose to operate from is Featherstone. It's a small place and has always been a small club. The district and wider area is already saturated rugby League wise. Best it can hope to be is a well run small to medium size operation and I can't understand why people pump large amounts of money in to it in order to try and achieve something that would be impossible to sustain.

I am surprised no one has thought about the teams playing in soccer stadiums. fixtures can be seriously disrupted when the season overlaps. Full seasons at the same time would be a logistical fixture nightmare for some clubs.

Nah, I have seen plenty of winter rugby in my lifetime and nostalgia is OK. But you would soon get sick of watching mud wrestling week after week.

Yes, so happy for york. I have a soft spot for them, great club, lovely ground and their league position at the moment dosnt do them justice. I hope they kick on from here.
