  1. Am glad you as a neutral saw sense and followed the mighty Wire! My posting was justified this time, I believe in my team and that was one hell of a show by our boys in p&b!
  2. Got told that 85,000 was the official crowd but there was no way 85,000 in there, im sorry but a blind man could see that. Club Wembley was half full at best, plus a few other gaps in the crowd. And the nice bunch of Leeds fans we spoke to were disgusted at the vast majority of their fans who left 15 mins before the end. If you travel all that way, no matter how much of a beating you take you stay to the end and support your team. The Wigan Walk is dead long live the Leeds Walk!
  3. Club Wembley looked more than half empty at the final, surely if 85,000 were on there must have been more in the bar than in the seats?
  4. Wire are in massive need of a recognised kicker (imagine we had that Leeds would have been massacred yesterday) and with Hodgson in the team we will tick that box. But Mathers did a great job and will look back on his time at Wire as a great spell that has turned his career around. I am sad to see him go and wish the guy well.
  5. Leeds have to take a gamble with Peacock out. They could have a potential matchwinner in that young guy Clarkson or do they go with a solid, reliable plodder like Ablett? http://www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/wolves...ad_for_Wembley/
  6. Shaping up to be the best final in decades on paper. Full house, two big name clubs, world class players on show on both sides. Hard to pick a winner, very close matchup! But Wire will just pip it I feel, with Peacock missing I think we will win it.
  7. SAINTS have secured the services of Northampton born winger Daniel Brotherton on a part-time professional contract. The 18-year-old impressed during his trial with the club in August and joins from Northampton Demons RL. So is this guy from a Union background?
  8. Agree this is a bit of promotion in the confines of the Wolves website. This should be in all the tabloids, NW Tonight, NME, Sky Sports News etc in the build up to the big game on Saturday.
  9. Course they do! We are the famous Warrington and were going to Wembley!!! Actually they were introduced through Wire owner Simon Moran who's company promotes their gigs and they struck up a good boding I believe.
  10. Karl Fitzpatrick has played his last game for Salford City Reds and is planning a new career in rugby union. He was hoping to bring the curtain down on his eight-year stint at The Willows against Wakefield on Sunday week but a wrist injury has brought a premature end to his season and possibly his rugby league career. Now he is about to take up an offer from Preston Grasshoppers as full-time strength and conditioning coach. http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnew..._to_rugby_union Fitzpatrick was always a decent player in an appauling Salford setup, but injuries have blighted his career. Sad way to leave the game.
  11. Wolves' stars Michael Monaghan and Matt King got Wembley wishes from Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno of indie rock band Kasabian. Pictured here Showing Their True Colours. http://www.warringtonwolves.org/kasabian-i...-and-blue--3665 Just shows the glamour of the club that a world famous indie rock band are backing the boys! Come on Wire!!!!
  12. http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/sport/rl/wolv...errerPath=sport I can't believe Clarke has been given permission to play for Cumbria, after all he was born in Wigan! I believe Tony Smith could be coming out of retirement for Cumbria as he once lived above a chippy in Workington!! Now thats Glam!
  13. No I was just stating that Gardner obviously thinks he has zilch chance of making the England squad. It's good that a SL player like him has put his hand up to play in an 'extra' game like this as most of them decide that they want a break after the season ends.
  14. St Helens winger Ade Gardner will play for Cumbria in the Garry Purdham memorial game against England at Whitehaven's Recreation Ground on Sunday, October 3. The Barrow-born Gardner, whose last appearance for England was in the 2008 World Cup, has thrown his weight behind the fixture, which is being held to support the family of Garry Purdham, who lost his life in the Cumbria shooting tragedy earlier this year. "It's a privilege to represent your county but it's an even bigger honour to represent the Purdham family and a community that has been through a lot in the past 12 months," said Gardner http://www.sportinglife.com/rugbyleague/ne...YL_Cumbria.html Good gesture from Ade to play for them, but this shows that Gardner's Test career is over.
  15. The French administrators of the time were visionaries but at the same time they were fools in Australia and GB who held the game of RL back and didnt kick on. After having our first World Cup in 1954 we should have kicked on and brought countries like South Africa, America etc into the fold but we were too short sighted. And why did we not register the Rugby World Cup as ours I will never know until the Rugby Union mob did in 1987! Only after Union went pro did we really step up our international expansion but this will take years to impact where we have a proper competitive international setup.

  17. As you say 87-95 was a great few years for RL in terms of the international game (crowds wise), the only downside was Wigan were the only full time pro club and everyone else was playing 2nd fiddle. Our golden age is yet to come and it probaly wont be in our lifetime. Mark my words. One day RL will be up there as a major sport I have faith in that, we will have people running our game who know how to market the game, use PR like the RFU and showcase our game.
  18. http://www.runcornandwidnesweeklynews.co.u...55368-27135033/ Says that he might be going to a SL club, but at 29 I think he has left it a bit late to step back up to SL level.
  19. At least we are getting some media coverage for the final with the mirror especially.
  20. Michael Monaghan has splashed the cash to ensure his biggest fan gets the trip of a lifetime to Saturday's carnegie challenge cup final. Warrington's Australian hooker, man of the match in last year's win over Huddersfield, will be cheered on by his 84-year-old granddad. "Ernie has never been on a plane before," says Monaghan. "In fact, he has never been out of New South Wales, and probably he's never actually left his own town. "Normally, he and my grandmother only watch my games on TV. But he jumped at the chance to come over even though he had to organise a passport pretty quickly. Read more: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/rugby/2010/0.../#ixzz0xcYAyNLx Just shows what our highly paid RL stars splash their cash on! His Grandad sounds a bit like Crocodile Dundee the way he descibes his upbringing!
  21. Supporters Direct, the umbrella organisation that promotes supporter representation at Rugby League clubs across the UK, is pleased to announce its first ever rugby league conference, to be held on Saturday October 9th 2010 at the historic George Hotel Huddersfield. The conference, entitled
  22. On a serious note if I was Macnamara I would pick Richards (if allowed by the RLIF as he has represented Ireland). Him and Hall would be my wings.
  23. NFL???? I aint sure they could catch a kick to the corner!!!
  24. Ah yes the flat cappers did you proud that day we had a good crack with em, trashing a pub in the process!!! As for Bramhall Lane I think its the right size for a final replay. A lot of fans will be skint so many may just watch it on BBC2 or whatever obscure channel we get to show it!!!!
  25. SHEFFIELD UNITED'S Bramall Lane ground will host the Carnegie Challenge Cup final replay if Leeds and Warrington end all-square on Saturday. The Yorkshire Post understands Bramall Lane, which has acted as home to 1998 Challenge Cup victors Sheffield Eagles for the first time this season and has a 32,700 capacity, is set to be the venue if that does occur on Wednesday, September 8. http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/rugby-leagu...e-to.6490836.jp Good choice for a replay, it would be a shame if we didnt have a winner on Saturday but this venue is a decent one and would be ideal. Though the 32,700 capacity would be tested with all the hordes from Wire coming over the pennines!
