  1. The grade A clubs would be grade A without licencing. There are no grade C clubs now grade A so how has it not failed utterly?
  2. This is an excellent post. Pragmatism may be at odds with old business thinking but it is actually the one thing keeping many businesses afloat.
  3. The post made it clear how the money would be distributed and calculated, so by default clubs entering next seasons competitions will know what to plan/aim for.
  4. You're just looking for excuses and reasons to moan. Whatever is agreed will dictate what the prize money is in the 2014 season.
  5. How many SL clubs are in the same boat? Good luck with your higher level of reasoned debate
  6. Only in the minority in SL. You're referring to a generation ago. The rest of the leagues made that move (as you well know I suspect) to grab the headlines when football wasn't playing and they've stuck to that decision in the summer era because their fan base is used to it. I don't believe it has any strategic advantage over other sports or even a trip to B&Q.
  7. I disagree. We had Friday and Saturday nights which have great pulling power for fans and sponsors. Good luck pulling in the big companies for that crucial Thursday night clash.
  8. How does Monday night, or Thursday suit? They're not traditional times for the elite league to play at. We moved to summer to grab headlines not fill in between football stories. I also think the lack of a title sponsor is a big problem regardless of the difference in revenue. Like anything it is by association with a big brand that SL as a brand makes sense. Without it SL as a brand is failing.
  9. Further to that, I get this feeling that self interest is being levelled at those same people being blamed for the "problems" in the game. It would be interesting to look at some of the decisions throughout the development of the SL brand that were based on self interest rather than strategic decision making.
  10. It's lynch mob mentality. If enough people shout indignantly that it's the championship clubs and their fans fault then it must be true, so hang 'em all. Just ignore the fact that a number of own goals have pushed SL into the SKY backwater with little sponsorship to boot.
  11. SL couldn't blow the skin of a rice pudding if that happened. It would be about as attractive to sponsors as fleas. Also for the life of me I can't understand what the championship clubs have done, or there fans, to warrant this comment. Can you at least justify them based on the facts or are you just spouting bile for the sake of it?
  12. If the future of Salford hangs on the whim of one man then it's a worrying situation regardless and if Salford are relegated then frankly he's wasted a lot of money on a club undeserving of his investment. What else would you expect?
  13. By all means offer an opinion but all this wailing and moaning?! Shouldn't you be blaming SL clubs not other fans?
  14. I like the idea of on-field success being an important factor instead of the depth of tread on the tyres of your BMW.
  15. I honestly thought National Express had started a new service. I also think it would likely get far more headlines.
  16. Lots of questions for you to answer for yourself. How many Championship clubs are going nowhere now? How many clubs will be going nowhere in the future if things do change? What do players do now who play for going nowhere clubs and what will they do in the future? Also are London are going anywhere now? FWIW my opinion is that SL don't generate players, it's the system far beneath it that does. Also kids of 16 are way off SL level unless they are exceptional. In these circumstances they'll travel half way round the world to play. The rest take whatever paths exist if they are passionate about it because there will be scouts and coaches in Gloucester and Oxford (for eg)who are looking for talent to justify those efforts. so at the end of the day does London want RL? It seems yes. But does London want the Broncos?
  17. In my lifetime the game of RL has always been gimmicky in comparison to other sports. Any argument to say we haven't need of them is fundamentally flawed because they've brought significant benefits and positive PR in the past. You're going to have to do much better than that to discredit the proposals.
  18. I went to the Reform Club to see if they were in favour of letting some poor working class northerners in as an act of charity. To a man they were against it. Not one proposer could be found. Next week I'll see what the Masons think of letting the riff raff in instead. Standards must be kept.
  19. You take 1 weeks' worth of response in LE as a straw poll of peoples views but do not take any steps to review opinion from this board as you regularly do for other subjects. The choice not to do that just undermines any argument and clearly shows which side of the line LE is on.
  20. Other than the moral reasons for not tramping in someone elses backyard, what about the implications for community work carried out by the likes of Batley and Dewsbury that is funded through grants and awards? Doesn't the actions taken by Bradford potentially undermine these smaller clubs getting hold of the funding?
