  1. completely agree.. the rivalry round is a great idea, a (good) marketing mans dream!.. i also think most fans would also love to see the heritage kits being used in a round of fixtures..
  2. there are a number of reasons why the quins 'experiment' may be doomed to failure, but i dont think its got to the point that we walk away from London saying 'we tried'.. because lets be honest, we havent really tried.. the bronco's with the brisbane contingent running the club were the only recent incarnation that even dented the psyche of the london sports public.. id wager if you did a servey around London most people wouldnt even know theres a RL side in London. when people are aware of a RL side, and its promoted properly, and in an accesable art of the capital, then we'll be in a position to see if its really going to work, and i still think it will, if done correctly. you only have to look at the utter ###### on TV these days and what record labels like to portray as music to know that anyone can be turned onto something with some clever and sustained promotion and marketing. but obviously none of this can be done quickly without money.
  3. wouldnt be surprised if brett kimmorley comes over to SL next season. bradford would be interested im sure. if orford goes, he goes.. he'll be replaced easy enough
  4. we dont need him.. we've got an adundance of forwards vieing for selection.. he wouldnt even make the squad. And why bother when he'll probably be past it in a few years?!.. McNamara needs his head read if he's seriously considering him.
  5. it was great defense on the part of briscoe (although not on the part of Hull FC), but it was also a poor finish to what should have been a try.. i put it down to inexperience on the part of charnley and also some ordinary passes from the inside men.. but briscoe deserves the pats on the back for his determination to make that tackle.
  6. doesnt help that many RL clubs are just towns.. and any mergers or creation of new clubs would result in alienating fans or risk the support base being spread too thin. tough one.. i think the next round of franchises will force some clubs and fans to make some tough decisions.
  7. ryan bailey. Cockayne was one of the first to spring to mind also, but like has been said i just think he's a loon! ferriol likes laying it in a bit aswell..
  8. wondering when thats gonna happen this year, and did the bbc show any highlights of the france game?.. the small print in the contract no doubt says "will be shown when we feel like it"
  9. sad to see.. have heard good raps on him over the last couple of years..
  10. did they?!.. who am i thinking of then?!.. sure there was another essex side.. oh well..
  11. a few amateur clubs springing up in the east now also (hainault, brentwood, Phantoms RL, essex eels) .. and only a 20min drive from the skolars on the north circular.. close to the motorway for away fans, or central line for anyone coming down on the train. dont suppoe it would happen.. but would love to see it properly explored. wonder what the name change would be if they did have to move..
  12. if its a football team id suggest they talk to Orient.. nice little stadium, good transport links, some nice pubs nearby, 15mins from the M11.. and 5 mins from my house.. it has everything! and Orient being the kind of club who are always hard up, they might be willing to listen.. http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictu...matchroom.shtml
  13. maybe the black was home, and red away.. dont the NZ warriors have a similar pattern on their kit?
  14. merging cas and wakey would just alienate fans.. thats a given.. very few from both sets of fans would support a merged side.. the only possible way would be to create a new team in that new stadium, cas and wakey drop down to the championship with thie identities in tact and act as feeder clubs.. but even that is as big a risk as suggesting a merger. as any new team would probably struggle to attract any local support. i do think both teams deserve a crack at getting their ***** in gear in a new shared stadium though.
  15. sam moa and liam watts was the best.. luaki ?! what is he on?!... half the time im convinced he doesnt actually know the rules.. or has heard someone say "the games different over there" when refering to super league... and he's took it literally!
  16. Something else for Eddie to waffle on about in the next installment of boots'n'all..
  17. makes the RFL's choice look a little silly.. time will tell though
  18. Good luck to schoey.. always thought south africa was a hugely untapped resource.. and a country with huge potential for rugby league..
  19. personally i think the answer might just be a simple one.. bradford arent playing that well, and havent been for a few years. the players they've signed havent been that exciting (menzies and orford excepted), and the good players they have signed havent had that great effect on the team as a whole.. combine that with an inexperienced coach going into the job with the team already in a tough position, who doesnt have the reputation and finances to attract the calibre of player of the likes of wigan, leeds and st.helens and thats a large part of the problem. Also Bradford is a lot bigger than wigan.. so wigan's marketing campaigns would probably be a lot more focused in a smaller area.. and therefore easier to reach people/create hype. bradford will have there day in the sun again, im sure of that.. it might need the club to go for a young coach eager to show his talents like hudds, catalans and wigan did in brown, potter and mcguire.. or it might be the emergence of a couple of young players who go on to be stars, combined with a couple of good solid signings.. and bradford getting that shiny new stadium probably would help also
  20. helps hugely when you have a friendly press section and TV station giving as large a push as possible.. two things RL has never had, and probably wont have in time for the next world cup.
  21. isnt LMS an east london boy?.. mile end/isle of dogs way.. and im pretty sure ive heard clubb being mentined as from kent.. cant recall where from though..
  22. as it was wigan that got me interested in rugby.. players that ive seen play (live or on TV) 1. Kris Radlinski 2. Jason Robinson 3. Gene Miles 4. Gary Connolly 5. Martin Offiah 6. Phil Blake 7. Shaun Edwards 8. Andy Platt 9. Martin Dermott 10. Kelvin Skerrett 11. Andy Farrell 12. Phil Clarke 13. Ellery Hanley Bench 14. Sam Panapa (the original utility player!) 15. Steve Renouf 16. Andy gregory 17. denis Betts
  23. two very average sides.. expected more from hull to be honest. but both sides just look incapable of doing the basics of Rugby correctly.. eddies commentary is probably worse than gansons refereeing aswell.. please let this be his last year.. please!! (eddie that is).. and hopefullly stuart cummings will join him..
