Rugby League World Cup 2021 (Merged Threads)

Shane Richardson's plan for international league, part of his recent report. He is a News Corp stooge and they are now partners of the NRL and looking to control the game. I see every 4th year is a lay off for all players, instead of a World Cup maybe????????? -

England may play in Leigh, but Australia will play in Campbelltown or Penrith. -

That podcast was from today on Sunday coverage of NRL. The media guys on it are pro V'landys, basically his cheer squad, aligned with News Corp. -

I actually agree, alot is going on at ground level with Troy Grant and his team canvassing players. He was not in attendance at the Press conference on Thursday which was noticeable. They have the NRL worried otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with their press statements and Gould has been throwing tantrums. -

Why the FCK does Gould have so much control over everything, he is just a TV commentator. -

If he was heartbroken he would have come out and said or done something. He is on Fox....paid by the NRL/Murdoch. -

Wouldn't the teams that don't get past the group stages or quarter finals go home? Not all 500 stay until the final. The quarter finals are on November 12 and the Final is on 27th. That's two weeks later. -

Name one sportsman in the world killed or severely ill from Covid when participating in a tournament. Beattie another on the News Ltd payroll. Part of the game's hijacking. Worst of all a bloody politician. -

I was referring to the the old RL International Federation when they approved things like 4pt tries, sin bins, 6 tackles and a host of other rules through the years. I recall when they brought in neutral referees after a particular France v England game at Headingley in 1981 won 5-1 by the French in a game controlled by a Frenchmen. They also put out a calendar of tours which surprisingly took place. -

I'm with you there. Though I will follow the rest of the world game, I'm done with the NRL, my membership will go, no more listening to BS from News LTd lackies and Gould, Origin etc. I don't need it. -

We did have an international board who sanctioned rules and tours etc. We have tried to get an organisation to control the game like FIFA but the NRL won't allow them full control. -

That's all the NRL is now a game run purely to make profit, no profit don't bother. It's been like this since the SL war. It's the only sport I know that kills off fans rather then growing them.....tooo stupid. -

The IRL were due to release the international plans soon. They have put together a detailed calender. I for one think a 6 or 8 nations played between each world cup period should be started. There are enough strong teams now. It could be like 2 groups of 4 with a final or semi and final played over 4 or 5 weeks. -

Before the announcement from Australia and NZ the world cup was well ahead of where it had planned to be financially. -

Do you want RL to grow and be played in other countries? If so this is why we have a World Cup, not just to celebrate the game but to maximise revenue so we can pump it back into smaller nations to help fund and grow the game. This WC was headed for record revenue. This is what the Rugby Union do also with their World Cup and what has seen their sport grow so much since it started in 1987. I for one do not want to watch Origin for the next 30 years, I want my sport to grow and be the biggest and best it can be. We should be praising people like Jon Dutton and the magnificent job he and his team has done. I call for a knighthood if he pulls this off with the 11th hour obstacles put in front of him.
