  1. According to my parents my first game watching Salford at the Willows was in 1946 and I am still a fan some seventy eight years later along with all the family and some friends.

I can’t remember who we were playing but I do remember the hot potatoes when it was cold and Lucketties ice cream on the warm days and my dad used to say that Albert Lucketti  the ice cream  man was faster than any of the players if he could see a sale along the touch line.

Awful conditions. These are the games you’ve just got to find a way to grind a win out in.

I hope everyone that criticised the Craven Park pitch last week will be commenting about this marsh tonight… it looks like a Sunday League park pitch after two games of football.

Is there an opticians near to where you live, a visit to for yourself is an urgent requirement.

  3. I was in the local gym on Sunday,a couple of friends came up,both avid football fans, knowing that I was a Salford Red Devils fan, they asked,Did you see the final yesterday? I replied yes that I had seen the final, what did you think of it,they said?, I replied that I realy enjoyed it.

Their comments afterwards were-Well that game both before, during and after the match had everything that football is lacking at present, it was one of the best games in any sport that they had seen.

Well done to Leigh Leopards and Hull KR for putting on a show such as they did.

  4. Not quite off topic but.....

Next to the Trafford Centre in the old Argos building peel have opened a Museum of museums, it gives a taster for many local museums.

As part of this Salford have I think with the RFL got a RL section. This alone is good news but according to a poster on the RLFANS turkey Salford are using it as a marketing ploy. They signed up some families to come and sample the greatest game (unfortunetly they saw Solly V Wakey)

The poster is now so taken with the agme he wants more and is thinking about going to the GF.

It seems that the family atmosphere and openness of the players signing autographs and chatting to the kids won them all over. They will go to more games next year.

When Salford move to the new stadium this sort of marketing may play an ever bigger part.

Has anyone else been to the museum?

RW For anyone who lives away from the Manchester area the Museum is situated right next to the Barton Square section of the Trafford Centre in what indeed was the Argos warehouse, there is ample free parking in both the Museum site and Barton Square although the Museum site is not fully open yet.

The Barton Square can be accessed from the main section of the Trafford Centre via the covered walkway close to Boots and John Lewis or alternatively if you go past Asda coming from the old Swing Bridge Barton Square is on the left

The Salford City Reds section is a well thought out and constructed part of the Museum which also has a transport site,Brewing site plus others.

The City Reds site has obviously been well received by some of the people hence the post on The Scarlet Turkey and as a long standing RL fan (SCR primarily)I found it very interesting and feel that it will benefit the club and the game in the long run.

  5. It seems someone from the Beeb attended the Lance Todd Dinner last night at The Willows, He spoke about Salford and the new ground made some positive sounds. Lets hope this is the future.

Sorry don't know who he was,

RW If it was Chris Hollins speaking at the Willows he must have been talking to himself as the dinner was supposed to be at the Lowry Hotel. :D

  6. its also pretty important that Salford really do start to take junior development seriously and not just pay lip service to this important part of the game, and not just keep signing has been and never was players from the NRL, and Super League rejects.

Jack Spencer,Stefan Ratchford,Gareth Owen,Marc Sneyd,Lewis Palfrey to name a few.First four in last Sundays squad and all did ok.

Alan Hunte is doing a good job.

  7. I don't think it was great, and at the time (with beer and 3D goggles on) I was calling for him to be binned, but then I do think the slow motion replays make it seem worse. It was more the lateness for me, as I don't necessarily think he attacked Myler's head on purpose, although that was the outcome.

I would expect a warning about future conduct tbh.

Judging by how the disciplinary panel operates Myler will be cautioned for staying on the ground too long.

It was a very late tackle that was uncalled for and Tomkins should be banned.
