Congratulations to Wakefieldand their present management. Hope you maximise non match day revenue. You should ask Gary Hetherington how successful the Headingley Experience is. -

South Wales junior scene booming

Great effort, as with other parts of the country and indeed all other sports, the trick is in keeping them involved after about 17yrs of age. First step however, is getting them involved in the first place, so tremendous effort. -

I'm delighted for Ken Davy, who has done as much for rl and his local community in general as anyone. Hope he has a great day. incidentally, anyone local know what his plansare for the Huddersfield YMCA RUFC sports fields? I heard it may become the training base for the Giants but any accurate, up to date local knowledge would be appreciated. -

Have any of you noticed the attendances at the World Indoor Athletics Championships, numerous Cricket Test matches, various golf and tennis events etc, etc. -
I dont think anyone would disagree that Channel 4 offer at least, a partial new audience. That being said SL and the RFL should be advertising details of the Challenge Cup Final, Magic Weekend and the GR and Final to that new audience, rather than sending their endless e-mails to people who are already aware. Surely a little segment or actual advert setting out ticket details for those three 'events' would be financially productive. p.s. also throw in ticket details for the World Cup.

Yes, very good crowd at Wigan given the weather. Worcester v Bristol was on BT, one would normally expect around 9,000 but I would be surprised if there was more than 4/5, 000 last night. -

David Hughes would be delighted to 'sell' London, after the enormous amount of money he has put in to it. Unfortunately, no one wants to buy it, at any price. When he is no longer around, neither will be London. So get your criticism in now, you wont be able to in the future. It's staggering that so many people with neither knowledge or information (and certainly no money) just love to criticise others. -
Wakefield Trinity plans submision
cookey replied to Forever Trinity's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I'm a fan of slow, steady progress, keeping people up to date on progress and also highlighting any potential delays. Non match day hospitality is key, as clubs simply cannot exist via 15 matches a season and a local benefactor. Leeds is the blue print for non match day revenue. -
Hopefully people will support the PS Channel. Anything to get away from the amateur half wits on Sky Sports.

Wakefield Trinity plans submision

Unfortunately, that is not the view of broadcasters or sponsors, they simply dont want to be associated with the place in 2021. It's not fit for third rate ferret racing. -
Wakefield Trinity plans submision
cookey replied to Forever Trinity's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I for one am delighted for Trinity and rugby league. Clearly it is desperately needed but I have faith that it will actually materialise. As for Castleford, there is no way they should receive a single penny of any cash injection, they will merely waste it on paint and glue. I'm afraid Castleford should be sent to the Championship and replaced by Newcastle, York or similar for the good of the overall game. They have been an embarrassment to the game for all of the21 century. Equally, I suspect that if they were kicked out, they would very quickly develope a new ground and perhaps return to SL. -
Sheffield’s Stadium - any updates?

Delighted with the progress.A solid base in Sheffield, with modern facilities. Have Wakefield been able to take steps forward? I wont even bother asking about Castleford. -

Sheffield deserve vastly more praise than Castleford. Castleford have wasted millions on merely surviving another year and have nothing to show for it. If SL had accepted PE money,Castleford would have been the first to be kicked out. Their ground was not fit for purpose in 1970 and effectively nothing has been done to improve it since. Shameful. -

Encouraging, lets hope it progresses. -
The obsession of having a 'professional' scottish rl club for the sake of it. The game can neither afford it or need it. Far more important to develope some foundations ,in the junior and community game. Really, the game needs to reduce the number of 'semi professional' (paid for by a benefactor, who inevitably is criticised) and strengthen the community/junior game.

Please give up,let them get on with it and if it doesn't materialise, criticise them then. -

Unfortunately,in todays world,it's a lot about perception. If you were a major sponsor or broadcaster, would you want your name associated with semi derelict grounds, which frankly haven't seen any investment for 50 yrs and weren't suitable then. Other sports have modernised,at best league has stood still or gone backwards. Someone needs to make some harsh decisions, which I accept may not work but standing still and playing games in fourth rate facilities will not bring much needed revenue into the game, either via broadcasters, sponsors or on match day. I wish Wakefield well,at least they appear to be trying, whilst I've heard nothing from Castleford.
