And that is all I am saying Dunny, blame it on whatever people want to, the simple reason that one of the team's is from France will result in a lower attendance.

Imagine if both teams were from France, as pointed out above. maybe an alternating neutral venue is the way to go here as per the Champions League. This would negate the comparison as all the variables would have changed

I thought that restriction was now lifted. Man Utd are permitted to play in front of a capacity stadium again now and had over 73K there this weekend.

Why would a rugby game at the stadium be limited to 45K when a football game can have over 73K ? Are rugby fans more contagious than football fans or something.

Didn't the old Wembley have a reduced capacity for the Challenge Cup Final (98,000) compared to the FA Cup Final (100,000) because rugby league supporters eat more pies?

Here is my take on the situation.

Despite the fact that modern Rugby League players are in general fitter, more athletic and more skillful than ever before, I find myself drifting away from many games on tv and even forgetting some are on - particularly in the UK.

    So why is this?

Well, I think Rugby League today is too much like a pizza and a cold beer.

I love pizza and a cold beer.

    was the pizza free?

I think someone summed it up last weekend when they said, people stopped going to RL and haven't missed it, yet people seemingly couldn't wait to get back to football and cricket etc.

Unfortunately I fall into this category but this has not been helped by the dross served up by Widnes this season. It was an early write off for me. Maybe next season with a new squad may spark my interest again.

The plan is vaccination. It’s been a slow rollout and the success of eliminating widespread COVID for much of the last 18 months, moreso than most countries on this planet, has allowed the government the luxury to ensure that the right vaccination programme proceeds.

The time is now to get moving on that strategy though and we are seeing uplift in vaccinations, so we will get there very soon.

That’s about all I’ve got to say about our Federal and individual State government’s plans for overcoming the threat of COVID.

Surely the answer is another hard lock down ? 🤣

It's been a source of irritation for me at Widnes that we had the original camera gantry purpose built in the top of the South stand facing North (where most people sit), in a perfect position and then decided to change it.

Now it's in the North, at a much lower height so the angle looks rubbish on TV and it points at a stand no one sits in with for reasons only the council know, burgundy seats.

me too! but the South Stand gantry is still there though isn't it? The facilities in the South Stand were a later addition if I remember correctly

    Travellers Rest ARLFC?

Seem to remember a team or similar named team from the National Cup in the 80's&90's but based in Widnes was never sure where they were from? Did they actually exist and where are / were they from - Wakefield area?

  8. Watching the Giro d'Italia earlier in the year there were sections of mountain climbs were the 'tifosi' would be running alongside the cyclist screaming encouragement in their ears, and, on at least one occasion I viewed the cyclist was actually being pushed the hill with a hand on his back. The commentators just seemed to think this was par for the course and added to the spectacle, nothing wrong apparently
