  1. Increase the number of non fed players on the back of a super league dream team which was 100% British. Makes sense.
  2. You need a running game to be an international half back. Sinfield doesn't, our attack out wide will suffer from this massively. Sinfields leadership, kicking and organisation are at a very high level but these are not enough to hack it at international level. This is my only problem with Sinfield playing. Sinfield playing has no bearing on my opinion on McNamaras treatment of Brough. So I'm not quite sure why he has been brought in to debate if I'm honest.
  3. I dont blame Brough. If you are the stand out player in a competition and can't even get in a 40 man training squad made up of players from that competition you are obviously going to be annoyed. You knew straight away that the decision had nothing to do what was happening of the pitch, which is very hard to take when you are playing the best rugby of your life. The decision has been made and we have to get on with it. Watching Brough rip pretty much every side apart (except Wire for some reason) is hard to watch but it's the way it goes. Well done Danny on winning the award, you certainly deserve it.
  4. Would take something special for someone to convince someone born in Dewbury that they are Scottish. Unfortunately it happened.
  5. Completely misread your post haha, one like will do although you can ask admin for them to allow you to like it more, the more points on my reputation the merrier
  6. The only thing I want him to be awarded is an England number 7 jersey.
  7. Common sense selections there, although I still don't think Gareth Ellis has earned his selection yet. The final backrow place would realistically be between Hock, Kirmond, Heighington, Farrell, Ferres. I'd go Hock for the opener as an impact sub. If he blows it then just drop him from the side for the rest of the tournament. I'd then bring in Kirmond instead who fully deserves selection.
  8. Would feel sorry for him if he got the job. The England job is basically trying to control several massive egos who think they are better than they are, and have a nation expect you to get to the semi final stage of a major competition with a team which is probably not in the top 20 when it comes to technically gifted footballers. It's possibly the worst job in the world. Apart from Beckham, the only ever technically gifted footballer England have ever had is Paul Scholes, he even stated that one of the reasons he retired was due to the amount of egos in the camp. Anyways 93m for Gareth Bale according to numerous sources, I'm going to guess probably at around 2022 before fofootball implodes on itself and has to restructure everything.
  9. I agree I wish we had taken the billion pound TV deal we were offered.
  10. Maybe 'lose most of their support' is incorrect as the stats you provided suggest. 'Support doesn't increase as much as expected or doesn't increase enough to compete' is probably more correct.
  11. It's obvious you get fans through the gate if your winning. I'd say about a third of your support would attend every game if you lost all your games in a season. The main problem with P and R is you build up a fan support by winning lots of games in the Championship and then get to SL and lose most games and hence lose most of this support and go bust. My problem with licensing is that you win most your games build up support and eventually your fan base gets bored as there is a ceiling above your head. You seem incapable to be able to comprehend the P and R point.
  12. Wood just said on Boots n All. 'We need a change to allow our top clubs to remain internationally competitive.' 'Some clubs haven't had the impact they should of had with the 5 year protection they've had and haven't made the progress we would of liked.' At least he highlights two of the main issues in the game, our clubs being left behind and a lot of clubs not progressing. I still agree with the two tens Ken Davey proposed with more cup competitions.
  13. Some of the stuff regarding promotion and relegation you say is correct, but your opinion is just so bias because you want what is best for your own club which is summed up perfectly by the majority of this post. You aren't wanting what is best for the game but just for Leigh which is quite frustrating really, because if everyone wanted what was best for their own club then the game would be a total mess. For the record I was in favour of a change in the system. I just couldn't see the French clubs and getting into SL if the system stood. The only way I could of seen it is chucking Toulouse Avignon and maybe Carcasonne into the league suddenly and the RFL would of had to try and sell the four French clubs in the competition and look for a TV deal, too much of a risk IMO. I think in the 12 system we are able to manage our resources better. I hope Toulouse come in with protection for 3 years. At least with 12 clubs they will have more players to choose from in the top division. Hopefully Toulouse have already been informed they are going to be in and they can start building towards it now, telling them in late 2014 is just foolish. Then if Toulouse is a success move onto Avignon and build the French up slowly. If the RFL don't have a plan to get the French clubs in though and have made the change for the sake of it then I really don't see the point in the move. The move isn't going to kill the game like some people are suggesting. It just won't progress the game swapping the bottom SL clubs with the top Championship clubs. The move just isn't going to affect Wigan Leeds Saints Wire Hull ect, why should it? They will carry on pretty much the same, producing the bulk of the talent which plays in SL and will compete exactly the same. It's not going to make a difference if Wigan play Castleford or Featherstone at the end of the day.
  14. Selling the Championship as a product to fans is pretty much impossible to generate the turnover. The only way you can get fans to attend is that if they have some belief you are going to get into SL. What can you say about the Championship to get fans to watch unless they love RL.If you don't believe me, look at Widnes' Barrows and Halifax's crowds prior to the SL announcement and after it. 1 teams crowds went up whilst the others have declined ever since. SL aspirations get people through the gates. A championship side is increasing their gates impressively at the minute, as you'd expect there is talk of them getting into SL.
  15. Mergers won't work. You need to realise this. Who are these proposed mergers you would want in the league?
  16. Top player. He's still good enough at SL bit gutted he's retiring. An inspiration to any young RL player.
  17. Good to see Leeds giving their reserve team players a shot at SL, hope he goes well.
  18. Is there an explanation why Saints got a slap on the wrist whilst Salford got a 4 figure fine and a points deduction?
  19. Poorly worded that quote. Should say 'just happened to be them.'
  20. Absoutely this was one of the reasons Paul Scholes retired. Germany's group had spain and Holland in it, one giant was bound to go out and it had to be then.
