  1. I’ve learned to play the ukulele! I wouldn’t say I’m brilliant but as we had a cub camp the other week and I’m good enough to strum out some camp fire songs.
  2. Ok I’m way behind on this one… I’ve just started watching the series Hannibal. If you aren’t bothered by -really- disturbing images and sequences, it’s brilliant! i never thought Mikkeson would live up to Hopkins’ portrayal in Silence of the Lambs, and while I wouldn’t say he’s better… I don’t think I’d say he’s worse either.
  3. I always thought I’d miss them but when I watched my first game without them I only realised they’d gone at half time. imho they’re an archaic throwback to RU and certainly the way the game has gone they were irrelevant.
  4. Yes Eth has huge potential if the things they want to deliver in eth 2.0! Otherwise one of their competitors, like Cardano or Polkadot could take over. Eth’s biggest problem at the moment are the ridiculously high gas fees. I do love the concept!
  5. Ok to sum up quick XRP is a crypto that aims to replace swift as the way international banks transfer money between different currencies. The product which works on the xrp ledger (which is essentially the database that stores the transactions) is called ODL or On Demand Liquidity and allows the transfer of money across the world is seconds with tiny fees. hope that helps a bit!
  6. I am heavily in to crypto. Ripple (or XRP as the coin is actually called) won’t get pumped for long, it’s got a lot of downward pressure on from Ripple labs constantly selling their supply and McCaleb constantly offloading selling his purse too... lump that in with the Sec during ripple and it’s difficult to see a sustained pump! That said it’sa good project with a solid use case.
  7. The only way this would hurt the institutions is of all the buyers were to try and redeem their physical silver. This is why I suspect this is the institutions trying to jump on the bandwagon! They’d never risk out with gold, but silver isn’t going to upset too many applecarts!
  8. Looking at the Reddit group they haven’t recommended silver and think it’s the institutions doing this to try and cover their losses. Silver is an interesting case though as it’s believed many of the silver ownership bonds have been sold to multiple owners. Meaning that if people went to retrieve the silver they theoretically own there wouldn’t be enough silver to pay it out.
  9. Actress Mira Furlan, from Babylon 5 and Lost. I met her albeit briefly at the Babylon 5 convention in Blackpool and she was utterly charming and lovely!
  10. I’m missing camping too much.... I want a wood gasification stove or a new 3D printer
  11. What a great career he’s had and I wish him all the best for the future!
  12. Tbf we’ll have Bateman do that should add a bit of steel even if we lose O’loughlin, who has now sadly reached the “talismanic” section of his career (Not that he can’t still tackle run or pass better than I ever did in my brief time playing at uni)
  13. Just had an email off the club saying they’ve re-signed French for another year! Very good for the club that.
  14. Tbf I’ve never been able to see past Morticia Adams... though like Wilma would never leave Fred she’d never leave Gomez! that said... she does speak french....
  15. Not to show how much of a Greek I am but... many years ago I was at a Babylon 5 convention in Blackpool. All the stars were there, but a highlight was Gareth Thomas dressed as Blake from the last episode presenting an award to JMS. The other two highlights were Walter Koenig walking past me dressed as Bester and talking-all be it very briefly- to the absolutely lovely Mira Furlan.
  16. I’m still traumatised over the ending of Blakes 7!
  17. Well your kids are only young once, and speaking as someone who mostly missed the first two years of my eldest sons life because I was working away, I applaud his decision. I’ve made sure with the later two children I was closer to home and even after the pay cut, it was well worth it.
  18. The game changed on Smith coming on. That said Wigan shouldn’t have been within 20 at half time. We were dreadful
  19. Ok we’re a bit odd in our house and watch Bake Off. Can’t believe people have complained about the opening. Anyway if you missed it Matt Lucas does a fantastic Boris Johnson.
  20. Just seen that Sam McBratney has died. Parents in recent years will know him as the author of Guess How Much I Love You! To the moon and back!
  21. We've started watched Misfits on Netflix (though originally on channel 4). Its exactly what you'd expect with the words "channel 4 decide to do a series about people getting super powers, but they've all got asbo's as well" Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton in GoT) plays a good role and frankly, if they ever reboot Blakes 7 he gets my vote to play Avon. The first few episodes, are a bit full on and I'm glad they calmed down some of the characters a bit otherwise I doubt I'd have stayed with it, but when it hits its stride its a lot of fun.
  22. As some on the forum know my wife’s dad is from Mauritius and so I’ve got a fairly strong family connection there and have stayed there with the relatives a few times. I know there’s a lot going on at the moment to occupy the media but I’d have thought a few column inches might have been dedicated to what’s going on there at the moment. as briefly made the news a month or so ago a Japanese oil tanker ran aground after failing to be hailed by the coast guard, and being 100km off course, and had spilled a ridiculous amount of oil in to an area of huge natural diversity, and beauty. If this wasn’t bad enough the company responsible have brought in their own experts to deal with this, who have sunk half the boat (which the two companies who are considered the best in the world at these operations have not been involved and are in the record as saying that’s not what they should be doing). After the sinking whales and dolphins have been turning up dead. The bodies which have allegedly been sent for autopsy, have disappeared and no one knows where they are or if the autopsy (assuming they have happened) has returned anything. Further more of a local 4 man salvage crew who went on to the vessel, 3 are dead and the captain is missing. If that wasn’t odd enough now Mauritian groups on Facebook and WhatsApp are being flooded with racially hatred material in a coordinated attack where the normal group moderators were kicked out. Now I’m normally the person who says conspiracy theories are a bunch of nonsense but there certainly seems something dodgy going on there at the moment. Here’s a couple of articles from Forbes on the topic if anyone other than me is interested https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/nishandegnarain/2020/09/18/five-glaring-issues-with-the-oil-spill-response-in-mauritius-today/amp/?fbclid=IwAR3ftBkAXRAIAUPkGCxqVGc3j3rkpf_3fGKWTuEi0I5huxCgglm5o2087Z8 https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/nishandegnarain/2020/09/20/trouble-in-paradise-facebook-spread-of-hate-speech-as-mauritius-oil-spill-crisis-continues/amp/
  23. I’ve got to be honest i wouldn’t have been bothered if I’d stopped watching. I needed a break from Dark though
