  1. Watched the finale of Killjoys last night. Overall not ground breaking sci-fi but really fun and ended on exactly the right note. Seems like my wife now wants us to catch up on the Magicians... we’ll see. We also watched the first Bear Grill’s dropping people on a remote island with drops of money to see what happens (forgot the exact title). It seems the rich Lord has teamed up with the military while the ‘little’ people do the work to get water while not realising they’re being shafted. A great analogy for modern Britain if ever there was one.
  2. I've started watching Carnival Row on Prime and its fairly good. I think the makers must have really liked Black Sails (if they aren't the same people) as, though the theme and the tone are a bit darker (touching dare I say on Lovecraftian influences) it probably has the same ratio of action to gratuitous sex scenes and the intro is very similar.
  3. Just finished you vs wild on Netflix with Bear Grills. It’s kind of a choose you fate thing with you selecting what Bear does next. The kids have loved it and learned quite a bit about survival although I suspect from the amount of times we’ve nearly killed him I might not be allowed to be a scout leader. That said if anyone had told me one of the options would end up with Bear sleeping with a sheep I’d never have believed you.
  4. Just finished the Boys. It’s the best super hero show on tv. Ok that’s not the highest bar in the world, but it’s probably the best by some way.

Still 99.5 ? although thats an improvement in that its the first time I haven't gain since I quit vaping... so I'm looking at the silver lining here, and I guess quiting vaping definitely belongs on a thread about health and fitness. Anyway -gulp- from here I'm on 2 weeks holiday so I won't be checking in next week and probably the week after because I'll be away from the sad step. Lets hope I don't put too much on!
  6. It's been about a month on that one so I'm determined to get that particular monkey off my back. Thanks for the boost though always nice to hear someone say (or type) it.
  7. 99.5 today ? Thought I might be going the right way this week, turns out I wasn't. Still not vaping or smoking though and still not wanting to. Barring yesterday's little rant at Saintlass (which she did deserve) I haven't been too grumpy about anything either. Swimming is still good and I'm getting more veggies in my diet. I'm quite surprised I went up.
  8. 99.2 today... I had a feeling stopping vaping would have a not great effect but I think long term I'll obviously benefit. Also buy a pizza oven didn't help!!! On a more proactive note, I've gone back to having home made smoothies for breakfast in my nutri bullet, made from spinach, blackcurrants, strawberries, a handful of oats, protein powder and almond milk (and a tiny drop of vanilla essence). Usually this is one of things that puts me on the right track for the day.
  9. Good omens is on amazon prime (as was lucifer before it was cancelled last year then renewed by Netflix ) probably indicates that most of them haven’t watched it.
  10. I think the worst one I’ve seen is that we had a 6 foot inflatable beach ball which was comedicly brought out under the title of circus skills that lots of the cubs would roll at people. Never had to fill in so many injury forms for kids losing their teeth.
  11. Oh wow that’s awesome! That said I wouldn’t trust some of my cubs with wooden swords ? that said again there was a martial arts base where the instructor did a bit with nunchucks.
  12. I think it’s the two days after camp where I can barely move that kill me off. That and as you say we never seem to stop eating... plus one of the other leaders brought his outdoor pizza oven... oh heaven!
  13. Yes, normalising satanism (well there’s an order of satanic monks but I’m not sure that really normalises it), mocks Gods wisdom, and possibly most worryingly, God is voiced by a woman!!!!!

  15. Having watched and really rated Good Omens a couple of weeks back it’s really tickled me this morning to see that a petition of 20,000 Christians has been signed to get Netflix to cancel it....... hahahahahaha Netflix! It’s on amazon prime.
  16. I’m already not looking forward to Friday! Not only was it scout camp again this weekend gone, but I’ve also quit vaping, which I believe can also lead to a kg or so going on. At least I managed to get in the pool this morning
  17. I thought I’d done ok this week but I haven’t moved this week. Still 99.0 kg’s :-0 and worse still its cub camp again this weekend.
  18. Finished good omens, and it’s very rare for me to say about a series based on a book I love, but it was brilliant. It had a lull for an episode towards the end but I remember the book had as well. And the bit Gaiman added at the end with Crowley and Aziraphale’s trial at the end was a brilliant addition. Shame there can’t (or more likely shouldn’t) be a second series.

Paul Darrow was an absolute legend and I’ve been fortunate enough to see him twice on stage, once playing the title role in the Scottish Play, and the other playing Sam Vimes in the stage adaptation of Guards Guards! obviously I’ll always remember him as Kerr Avon but he was a great actor outside of that and could light up the stage.
  20. Really enjoyed the first 2 eps of Good Omens, which has really surprised me as it’s one of my favourite books and usually I hate adaptations of my favourite books
  21. Well I knew it was going to be a bad week and I’ve weighted in this morning at 99.0 kg so although I’ve gained it hasn’t been as bad as I’d worried. A combination of a 3 day cub camp last weekend (where the standard breakfast involves sausage and bacon) and the kids being on holiday has been the main problem although I was too tired to go swimming until Wednesday which hasn’t helped. Tasks for this week. I need to prep my meals again, so at least 2 lunches and I need to go back to my smoothies for breakfast. Fingers crossed.
  22. Managed twice swimming this week and have replaced any biscuits/ sweets in my diet with nuts/seeds. Weight was not bad like I’d worried 98.4kg snow but steady progress. Let’s see how I do in the coming week when I’ve got a cub camp this weekend.
  23. I’m weighing in tomorrow. Bit nervous about this week. I’ve tried a few things on the food front I don’t think have worked.
