  1. Ian Thorpe is a Bulldogs fan. I'm pretty certain I've seen a picture of him as a young kid in a rugby league team photo too.
  2. The Wiggles brought out a song after that game, "Rock the world, the Tomahawks are going to rock the world", which had a line about President Obama ordering a carving of Joseph Paulo on Mount Rushmore.
  3. That looks a very strong team on paper. Is Matt Parrish still the coach? I still think England will win with home advantage.
  4. You may be right. However (and I barely watch anything live on ITV so it has probably been shown more than the once) there was a well produced advert for the World Cup in general and the Emirates semi final in particular, on prime time ITV - the first ad break in 'the Suspect' - a couple of weeks ago.
  5. Is the Ruby League World Cup written on the Warrington flyer due to the Kaiser Chiefs playing before the opening game?
  6. Someone will probably be on here in eight years time to deny that this ever happened.
  7. I definitely have Dave, second grandson born today. You've got to wet the baby's head.
  8. I think that Karl the guitarist lives in St Helens so there'd be some on here who'd complain. Not me, I've seen them twice this year. Johnny, I've got a vague recollection of you saying you were a Graham Coxon fan (could be wrong here). He seems OK with the Kaiser Chiefs. I'm going for the rugby so don't care one way or another about the band but I don't think they are a bad shout at all.
  9. Phil Gould saying "Stop it" annoys me, as does most of what else he says.
  10. According to Shaun Ryder, that would take you to the Willows, not LSV. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/nov/02/shaun-ryder-ufos-impossible-not-to-believe
  11. I've still got some Barking Bulldogs kit. It's green and black though, not blue and white.
  12. Hasn't he taken the advice not to do it on your own doorstep?
  13. I don't think Rowley has any love for Toulouse - I remember him ranting about how Toronto had been badly treated over there - so I can't see any favours being given.
  14. I get that Damien, although I think the publicity in the build up is much more important in raising awareness of the event, selling tickets etc than whether nothing was going on over a few hundred yards of Winwick Road from the station to the ground on game day. It's nine years ago now, and my memory could be faulty, but I remember there being plenty going on in town centre on the day of the QF.
  15. I'm with Dave on this. You couldn't fail to see lots of stuff about the World Cup in and around Market Gate and Golden Square in the months leading up to it. When the tournament started the Samoan team visited schools - I remember seeing kids from St James' in Latchford doing the Siva Tau for them on YouTube - and as a result got a lot of support in their game against the Kiwis (which I didn't attend) and the Quarter Final which I did.
  16. Completely agree with this although I keep waiting for Unapologetic Pedant to point out he used the word benefactor in last night's commentary at Fax when he meant beneficiary.
  17. A repeat of the Floodlit Trophy final from 1975 with added golden point.
  18. I'm not sure that Manly would have the Hopoate incident included if they ever commisioned a mishmash
