RIP
A superb player who goes under the radar of most people who remember his era

Another win for Trinity will certainly make the Tigers nervous and if the points difference closes and becomes negligible then the Trinity Vs Tigers match at Belle Vue could effectively become another Million pound game!

Neil Kelly is looking for a coaching job

With a quality coach like Justin Holbrook suddenly becoming available and with Watsons Giants putting in a very poor performance again, it wouldn’t take a big stretch of the imagination to see Watson gone by Monday morning

Another couple of tries for Young today. He actually now sits joint top try scorer, along with Sivo, on 16:
Which means he’s now averaging a try a game in the top flight of Rugby League including England games.
Played 45 Try’s 45

I spent 9 years living in Normanton. I never met anyone there who thought they were a Wakefield resident, other than for council tax purposes. Equally, the only RL interest I ever knew there other than myself were either Cas fans I was friends with, or assumed Fev fans, based on clothing worn. I did leave in 2008 however, although I can't see it having changed that much based on visits to family since.
You never drank in the Hark to Mopsey then

I'm still giggling at Kp's assertion that the residents of Sharlston consider themselves to live in a suburb of Wakefield.....
They do, whether they consider it so or not!
I know many many people from Sharlston, old and young, lifetime friends and close ones at that. They are from Sharlston first and always and proud of it but they also know that Sharlston is in Wakefield

At what age do we hold grown adults fully responsible for their actions?
So a you’re saying there is no weighting in peoples thinking for whether someone is young and naive as opposed to someone like Bentley for example or maybe aRyan Bailey type.

Why on earth would that have any bearing on the decision?
He’s a young man on a short trial, anyone who knows anything about the game can see the “tackle” was unfortunate but not premeditated or malicious. It could be argued that Myler was as much to blame for the position he ended up in.
7 games and £1,000 is a huge overreaction- 2

It wasn't his first game, he has played for Catalans in SL and Toulouse in Champs.
It was his first game for Wakefield
-
I think it’s worth appealing,
he’s young, new to SL, it was his 1st game, in a new country, keen to impress, he was in possession, Myler jumped up and wrapped his arms around his neck, the tipping point was purely unfortunate and not a result of poor technique, no malice or intent.
May get it reduced to 5 games and a smaller fine

Double whammy as Leon Rian scores, he’s a Wakefield Academy product!

Don’t want Pratt to play against Leeds, They’ll see how good he is, buy him off us and send that crock Newman the other way.
That said, I wouldn’t put it past our current Coach & BoDs to just swap Pratt for for some unknown Hooker cos Hoods out for a week or two

Two more try’s and an assist in todays match Vs Brisbane Broncos
Including England games his record in the top flight reads like this:
Dom Young
Height 6’7”
Weight 17st
Played 44 Matches
Scored 43 try’sNot bad for young lad still only 21 years old playing on the other side of the world in the highest standard of Rugby (either code) on the planet.

The sponsorship is almost certainly a precursor to a full take over and the new owners, knowing that major team changes are needed NOW, are making funding available via the sponsorship.
Much will depend on just how badly the new owners want to avoid the drop but if they’re desperate to do so then all may not be lost for Wakefield Trinity.
If a new coach is followed by a handful of real quality signings in key positions then we may see a few victories for Trinity, maybe enough of them to catch Castleford who are just 3 wins in front of Wakefield.
Interesting times for Wakefield Trinity, New owners, new coach, new players & stadium upgrades in the offing

On a more serious note, the decline in amateur teams, clubs and participation at all age levels in Yorkshire is alarming.
it’s been declining for a couple of decades and is reaching or has reached critical lows.
A good barometer is Castleford a Town where RL has been a religion but whose age group amateur clubs are regularly finding that they don’t have enough players to run a team at one age or another.
That dearth of new players over 15 to 20 years is now showing up at Pro level with less players transitioning from Amateur to Pro.
Another issue is the narrowing of the player pyramid base which means a smaller number of high quality players reaching the apex. That in time means the quality of the competition falls pro rata.
Add in the falling levels of finance to keep young players in the Youth Systems, with Academy lads being asked to sign contracts worth as little as £7k a year
So from an initially jovial thread we’ve actually uncovered a very serious threat to the game.

Leigh have been superb this season, they play a good style of rugby and they’re obviously close with each other and fight for the team.
I Wakey get any worse they could bypass the Championship and go straight into League 1

Leigh have probably the best disciplinary record in SL prior to today.
Yes, I’m being harsh, Leigh have been a joy to watch this season!

Leigh reverting to being Leigh, they obviously feel it’s not enough to beat Wakey 3 times they’ve now got to own them physically & mentally

I don’t think Reynolds could muster up anything that would get Fifitas attention, you’d have to fire him at Big Dave from out of a circus cannon !
