surely you can,t have a draw in a cup comp , golden point i assume would feature

You can have a draw in a group game of a cup. Just see the champions league groups in football for something similar.

Does anybody know what Moris kAMANO really weighs. Big lad but havent't found out his weight. Jusy trying to work out our pack size.

    James,

I have not been able to find out Mo's weight online either.

In relation to the "joking" on the other thread about eye colour, etc. was all a bit of a ###### take and not directed at you.

BTW for me I don't care how much Mo weighs, what I want to know is how will put him self into each tackle, how he will carry the ball and can he offload safely. We have had plenty of players in the past that have the size and weight, but have never been able to apply that to their game and we have had other players that have been what you might call on the small side that have out performed players that are bigger. A player's heart is much more important in my opinion.

I’d be dubious about the extra 1865 cup matches, as it’s a struggle to get fans to Challenge Cup matches these days.

I don't think that is much of an issue, given there are 7 groups of 3 teams which will be ceded, which will mean that generally 1 L1 club and 2 Championship clubs in each group. Then given the statement "...with League One clubs awarded home advantage in any fixtures against Championship opposition..." implies each team will play each other once rather than home and away. Therefore the championship sides only have a 50/50 chance of a single home game in the group stage (when they play the other championship side).

This as I understand it is to increase revenues for the L1 sides whether games like Midlands v Whitehaven/Fev/Swindon/whoever will be much of a draw for the L1 side is a different question.

It’s not just Cas who are kicking off now, Keighley are insulted  and Featherstone , predictably, think their grading  should have put them in Super League. It’s quite funny really when you think about it, and so Rugby League!!! No wonder people outside the game don’t take us seriously!

I wish people would read things, Fev's board take on it is an interesting read, the statement can be found here: http://bit.ly/3s8tOld

Our board's take on it and why we voted against the IMG grading proposal was that a "B" grade team winning the championship should be able to replace the lowest "B" rated team in SL. I.e. that the promotion and relegation part from SL should be based on the pitch not whether you as a club have fancy advertising boards and the next club hasn't, etc.

    Lol are bored at work.

You know I meant what are the ramifications for the club are.

Bob is right though as a "B" grade you have scored more than 8.00 IMG points and less that 15.00 IMG points.

Only RAMifications is that you have to have a "B" grade to be in SL and must be one of top 12 IMG points scorers. So Dewsbury have to miss out on SL.

Can't see plans for next year changing so soon. You can't restructure in an off season.

Well they virtually did at the end of the 1994/5 when Widnes, Wakefield, Salford and Featherstone where relegated from what originally where none relegation spots 14 up to 11th respectfully. Not forgetting that Keighley and (IIRC) Batley being deigned promotion to the top league.

Surely the interim solution is play 3x making a 24 game season, which is actually more games than last year?

"Going to Cornwall twice" isn't exactly the stumbling block it's being made out to be (only half the clubs would need to do that), considering they won't be traveling to London nor West Wales as in recent years.

This to me looks like the best solution.

And if he’s under contract at Wakey, they would be looking for a substantial transfer fee. Sadly, I think he’s not an option for us.

I though when relegated the current contracts were null and void to protect the team being relegated having to fulfil contracts they can't meet.

We need to finish 11th, assuming we go up, unless for example Wigan, Saints or Leeds are 12th.

I do wish people would read/understand the IMG scoring system, though unlikely on so many levels, even if Fev win promotion to SL this year and finish top of SL in 2024 we can still be demoted out of SL in 2025 under the IMG grading system.

Under the IMG criteria of “performance” over the three years 2022, 2023 and 2024 we have managed 14th (2022) or 15th (depending on if the playoffs count), 13th (2023) assuming we win the GF and if we finish 11th in SL in 2024 11th an average placing of 13th/14th still probably scoring less points than Wakey & Toulouse. And that is before you look at the other criteria. Certainly no guarantee of a SL place in 2025.

What is the point of the loan system

For the team receiving the loanee, the ability to fill in at a position where they have a deficiency, generally this is due to injuries, suspensions, etc. but sometimes down to not being able to recruit in a particular area of the team.

For the team sending the player out on loan, some revenue (generally teams pay for bring players in on loan), a player that will be nearer match fitness, a chance to see how a player can perform in a different environment, etc.

Traditionally loans have been for a relatively short period (4 weeks), but at the same time for sufficient time for the team the player is going to, to get some benefit from the loan (4 weeks) given that they are training with that team, learning team moves, etc. during that period. The "year long loans with recall options" seems to be something that has come into the game in later year (probably 10+ years now - showing my age).

Below is what Powell said about Riley Dean in the Warrington echo.

When asked about Dean returning to Featherstone, Powell said: “He’s still with us at the moment. We’ve just got to make a decision on what that looks like moving forward.

“We obviously need to do what is best for Riley for his development. There’s a couple of bits that I won’t go into, but we just need to decide what’s best for him.”

That sounds more like "we are deciding if we want to keep Dean contracted to us at Warrington as a backup half back or whether to let him go."

  12. Not much more than a nibble then.

Thing is Gov that I think promotion to SL is a bit immaterial, other than maybe Fev fans saying that we have been there in SL. My thoughts are that come the end of 2024 IMG will just pick the 12 teams that they want, which will not include Fev or Dewsbury.

I’ll give you a question/scenario back, which will make you smile. Can you imagine the whining you’ll be able to manage to generate if Fev do get promoted this year finish 11th or higher in SL in 2024 and then relegated via the IMG spreadsheet? Will the triple chip on Fev fans shoulders be unbearable? Relegated when we shouldn’t have been when SL started, denied promotion due to franchising and then relegated again due to an IMG spreadsheet.

This isn't about another Championship team, but it's still a slightly worrying development at Salford.

They appear to be encouraging fans to take out loans with Salford Credit Union, with an APR of almost 20%, to help fund the club.

I'm no financial expert but this has "it'll end in tears" written all over it, doesn't it?

    https://salfordreddevils.net/salford-credit-union-supports-reds-rise-together/

    Not for Salford Red Devils.

For example, I take an unsecured personal loan for £1,000 with Salford Credit Union (SCU) they pay the £1,000 to Salford Red Devils and I am liable to pay back the £1,000 and associated interest to SCU. at no point are Salford Red Devils chased for any payment defaults since it is me that that is liable for the loan. the Red Devils just end up with an extra £1,000 in the bank.

It is as if I had taken out a loan for £1,000 to buy a TV and gave then TV to you, if I fail to repay the loan it is me that is liable not you.

However for me it is one thing for a club to ask for donations to the club where the supporters have the spare cash, it is another for them to ask/push their supporters into taking on debt on their behalf.

  14. Coolie,

Why are you still fixated with all things Fev (and to a lesser extent YCK & Eagles)?

Dewsbury will still be playing Fev in 2025, even if we go up this year, having been relegated under the IMG promotion & relegation spreadsheet regardless of where Fev finish in SL in 2024 if we go up.

So surely your focus should be on following a successful team this year and making sure that the Rams are still in the Championship in 2025 so as to be playing Fev come 2025?

    All the best,

    Dave

I don't think Featherstone Rovers can trace a direct line back to that club, although opinions may differ.

    ...

If Bradford Bulls 2017 Limited can claim the history of Braford Northern and the other clubs/companies in between (and a number of other clubs do in a similar way) I'm sure we can claim the history of Featherstone Trinity. 😉

Well it would give us an additional anniversary in 2034 as the 150 anniversary to the foundation of Fev Trinity. 🤣

I don't believe it will be a closed shop.  I'm happy to trust that IMG know their onions.

That is exactly what it will become, see the the IMG presentation here on slide 15. In essence this means that all you have to do is to be in top 12 ranked teams (the grading A, B & C is a bit meaningless in truth).

So if every year the top 12 teams in SL have the best fandom, performance and finances because they are in SL (which is more than likely) it just becomes a closed shop.

... Personally, I think we'll score really well - certainly better than either of our neighbours.  If we play this right, we could become the premier team of the Wakefield district.

I just can't believe that anyone believes this is true, they will score better than us on finances, on field performance and fandom.
