  1. Yorkshire's right to host England matches reinstated provided they meet key criteria.
  2. Brilliant series, hoping they’ll make another. His acting was up there with his part in the first Fargo season.
  3. It’s not a criticism of yourself nor of the publication of the book itself. Having recently lost a very good friend, not much older than Rob to this terrible disease it’s just not for me at this time.
  4. I was bought this at Christmas. I’ve been unwilling to even open it. His disease and it’s inevitable conclusion makes it, for me, unreadable at this time.
  5. I was in the same situation. I’d read the first twelve but for a long time couldn’t find the thirteenth in the series ( fittingly titled The Thirteen Gun Salute). If only the goose had started collecting and reading them earlier I could have blagged his spare copy. I’m now on my second read of the series but only into book two, like yourself I alternate other books, at the moment it’s a repeat reading of Ian Rankin’s Rebus series. One good thing about getting older is the ability to reread a book without remembering how it ends.
  6. Yorkshire have appointed Ottis Gibson as head coach on a three year contract. Excellent news
  7. I bought his first hit record when it was released in ‘62. He’s younger than me which is a bit worrying considering he’s made it into the Thought they were dead thread
  8. I believe his hair used to belonged to someone else and most of his face is a lot younger than 90 years
  9. You say that but some of these people are walking away with thousands of pounds.
  10. Just finished watching it. Utter tosh. I loved it, the wife hated it. I’m feeling quietly pleased and slightly smug, serves her right for the years of misery heaped on my shoulders subjecting me to the endless stupid, turgid episodes of Eastenders and Emmerdale.
  11. If like me you can’t find a used copy of one of the books PM me and I’ll gladly put it in the post for you. The 13th book, aptly titled The Thirteen Gun Salute eluded me for years. I eventually ended up with two copies both bought on the same day. I found one in a Sue Ryder charity shop and Mrs Moose , fed up of hearing me moaning that I couldn’t find a copy had also bought me it online. It was delivered later the same day.
  12. I can’t recommend them highly enough. I saw the same film about 10 years ago and then bought the book. Master and Commander is the first book in a twenty book series. It follows the naval career and personal life of Jack Aubrey and his ship’s surgeon and British spy Dr Stephen Maturin. It’s fictional but extremely accurate in the dates and nautical terms of its time. I have the full series, collected from second hand and charity shops. One thing you must do is read them in order, they follow each other chronologically as he travels the world. They are probably my favourite series of books.
  13. Ron Hill MBE Marathon runner and founder of Ron Hill running gear. 82 years old.
  14. I’ve just seen a snatch of The Railway Children on Look North which reminded me of Bernard Cribbins, looked him up on Wiki and he’s still breathing, 92 years young.
  15. I have a brother-in- law, recently retired Met Chief Superintendent. He tells me it’s about as far from being true to life as it’s possible to be. There again he could be lying and be part of the conspiracy
  16. Forget about Line of Duty, a real crime drama starts on Channel 4, Sunday 9th May 9:00pm. Season 4 of Fargo is here and doesn’t disappoint, set in 1950’s Chicago the first episode sets the scene, showing the transfer of power on ethnicity lines prior and up to 1950. That’s all I’m saying, although I’ve been lucky enough to see the full series, no more spoilers
