  1. A bit of an odd season for us. We finished 3rd in the league last season and got knocked out in the playoffs. We lost some experienced players to Championship clubs or retirement, so this year was a relatively new team. We've played all the top teams and lost. We've only really had one proper home game all season (We played Dewsbury at 'home' in Widnes) and now after being promised Eirias park would be ready for 11th June, we've been let down by the stadium not finishing the work on time. Add to that a list of 13 injuries during our first 6 game, we've done well to win 3 on the bounce!
  2. A real frustration for both sets of fans. We were told not two weeks ago that work on the stadium was on schedule and the pitch would be ready for our first home fixture since March! The postponement means we lose out on revenue and our fans miss out on a home game, due to the stadium not meeting our expectations. It must be frustrating for Town fans too; particularly if you had booked accommodation in the Colwyn Bay area. If you are in Colwyn Bay, our womens team play their very first ever fixture at 13:00 on the 4G pitch at the rear of Eirias Park - and yes. the Club did ask if we could play the League 1 fixture there, but it doesn't meet RLF minimum standards.

  6. Totally agree. The WRU are having all sorts of problems including investigations of a toxic culture. The regional team are in meltdown and the National team has lost 4 of its most experienced players this month! Players could be looking for a fresh break; a good RL leader, and some progressive investors in Cardiff or Swansea could reap the benefits.
  7. The local paper has done a nice report on the ride https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/23560754.crusaders-fan-cycles-wrexham-cornwall-aid-mnd/?fbclid=IwAR0-r94GByzaBG1GLE84tS9_6iWZ2a9dvagqa6eu92pitOogG-67OEgeimQ
  8. i went to Cornwall RLFC las weekend - took me 5 days from North Wales (365 miles).....however 1 did cycle there to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease....you can read about it here! https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/23560754.crusaders-fan-cycles-wrexham-cornwall-aid-mnd/?fbclid=IwAR0-r94GByzaBG1GLE84tS9_6iWZ2a9dvagqa6eu92pitOogG-67OEgeimQ
  9. North Wales Crusaders Oldham Doncaster Workington A loooooong trip to Skolars trying to avoid the Man U and Man City coaches heading in the same direction for the same kick off time in the same city!! Lets hope we get there and back safely
  10. If thats the case why aren't 'top NCL' teams trying to get League 1 status? The League could do with a couple of more teams in any case to make the season financially viable for the current teams involved.
  11. My #cru4mnda fundraising is currently sitting at £2221 (plus the £150 raised at Midlands Hurricanes). I'll keep it open for a week or so more if anyone still would like to donate!
  12. Why not get out to those clubs and see for yourself. I've just come back from Cornwall and had a fantastic welcome.... and that was exactly the same at Hurricanes last weekend and I expect it will be the same at Skolars next weekend. Those clubs are incredibly hard working and keeping Rugby League alive and well in Cornwall, Birmingham and London.
  13. Hi All Just returned from Cornwall RLFC so heres the #cru4mnda update Vital Statistics: in the last 5 days I've cycled 582.3km and ascended 6874 meters - that's as near as climbing Aconcagua in Argentina, the hugest mountain in the southern hemisphere! Average speed 18.2km/H Powys/Shropshire has some big hills in the middle Between Hay-on-Wye and Capel-y-Ffin is the black mountain. Someone stuck a 14% climb out of Usk Devon is very hilly Cornwall is very, very hilly! I've received nothing but support from the Rugby League community. Its absolutely brilliant..... That got to be worth a couple of quid for MNDA!
  14. EDIT: £150.00 collected in the MNDA buckets - again thanks to all the supporters who donated.
  15. Fantastic support for my fundraising from Midlands Hurricanes and the Birmingham and Solihull MNDA voluteers at the Alexander Arena yesterday. I haven't had the ammount raised by the bucket collection yet but my Just Giving page increased by £260 and I was also given £36.20 in cash. I'll post the full ammount once its finalised. I start heading to Cornwall on Tuesday. Keep following this thread!
  16. I can't comment about your football team but I thought Hurricanes looked far better in thr second half...but they did have a long way to catch us on our best first half performance of the year. In the second half 'Canes gave us a lot of defensive practice and were showing a lot of flair. We've only won one in seven so I wouldn't be too despondent.
  17. I'm doing a series of cycle rides to various RL venues to raise funds for MNDA. I cycled to Thatto Heath for the Challenge Cup I've cycled to Rochdale Hornets for the League 1 game v North Wales Crusaders on 7th May from North Wales On 21st May I'm cycling from North Wales to Birmingham for our game vs Midlands Hurricanes. The 'Canes social media is promoting the ride and there will be a MNDA buclet collection at the game. On 23rd May I set of to ride to Cornwall RLFC for our game on 28th May. Follow me on Instagram and Facebook- look for #cru4mnda If you like to donate sponsorship my just giving page is: https://www.justgiving.com/page/mark-jones-1677698464492

  20. Were in the same boat - except we haven't had a home game since March 26th which was only our second League 1 game at home so far this season!! Our next home game is 11th June! In fairness its been done with the agreement of the RFL and other League 1 teams as Eirias Park is having the pitch redeveloped....but it still feels like a long wait!
  21. I'll go with Hunslet, Hornets, Rams and Roughyeds. The Dewsbury/ Doncaster game will be the pick of the bunch - could be a close call.
  22. Another week off next weekend wont help either... We have two games we need to win at Hurricanes and London Skolars or we may not see Carl Foster at Eirias Park!
  23. It depends...if I'm cycling I always use kilometres ...... cos it sounds further!
