  1. Elliot Hall deserved man of the match but Marcus O'Brien wasn't far behind. Fitzsimmons and Scholey work rate and defence was outstanding. Outstanding team performance, if we can reduce the mistakes and penalties the winning margins can only increase. UTT

The beauty of the RL Challenge Cup has been diluted since the inception of Superleague....and before that the dominance of the Wigan team started the rot.

I'll never forget standing with 13,000 at DP versus Hull KR, and 17,741 versus Wigan...the cup was then the RL holy grail for sure.

BTW I heard the guy on Border TV News say tonight's draw would include all the 'big guns'........who gives this lot such duff info?

I can still picture Billy Boston powering  to the line blasting thro several Town defenders for the winning try in the popular side corner at the town end.

Well , for an hour I thought we were largely ponderous and predictable . To much sledgehammer and perspiration but not much inspiration or direction . I thought young marwood gave us the spark . We finished the final quarter all over them , they faded alarmingly . Some nice kicks and eager finishes and obviously good conditioning in sapping conditions .

Can't agree with this comment, you have to compliment the Doncaster defence which tackled well. Fully agree that Marwood provided the spark along with Fui playing like a 20 year old and the coaching / conditioning staff deserve a pat on the back for the team's fitness levels.

‘ The boys have bought into what we've been doing strongly and I'm looking forward to them delivering on the pitch. We're just finalising a couple of signings and we're constantly scanning for players who can enhance what we have’

Does anyone know who the two players are - locals or travellers- experienced?

Only my view but a team should be identified by there team shirts, last year's tops were brilliant and original, even the home top this season is nice ,but i would not identify it as a town top ,more a halifax top.but just my opinion.if fans buy it great.

Totally agree, I am a traditionalist - I can't remember playing in hoops; either a single blue band or 'V' for me. Look how Wigan and Saints keep their identity.

If we dont get through the play offs then Regarding these 3 staying or not comes down to the question  Is  next season promotion at all  costs  or  build a team over 3 years under CT  capable of making the step upto championship level. If its the latter then I would expect to see some if not all 3 move on.

What do you mean, three years in champ. Div. 1? You must be joking.

Because they are 38, 39 and for the drop down from super league to league one well below standard for the expectations.

Age is the only thing against Fui, Tickle & Penky - all three have pulled their weight and been professional all season.  You could argue Penky has not had the same effect as last season, IMO this is mainly down to his individual style of play that looks genius when it comes off and not so when it doesn't. Does any one know if they want to continue next season?

  8. What is going on  when they let one of the few talented backs we had on the books drift away? Why has Tyler Mellor left the  club? Heard from someone who seems to be in the know that he started training has a plumber and got find for missing training - if true I am not surprised he has walked. Same source reckons we are getting several former players returning from haven , I won't name  them  but I for one am underwhelmed. I have supported the club all my life but rapidly losing interest, gets harder every year to leave the ground at the end of another disappointing season. What I would give to support a team like London Broncos, who aren't super stars, whose team spirit is second to none

Yet again we get to the Business end of the season with limited troops and getting a great win at Hunslet with only 15 available.

I don't fully know the reasons why we were light on numbers but Donny will be no push overs on Sunday and even if we get the 2 wins against them I cannot see us progressing further than that.

If we had Ollie coming back and possibly Elliot and then Hewitt available along with Mellor,Maudling and Olstrom I would be confident of giving the Playoffs a real good go.Why does it seem every year we end up with the same scenario of limited numbers when all other teams with ambitions of promotion seem to strengthen a few weeks before we get to this stage of the season.

As for promotion to the Championship yes I would take it all day long but we would need a massive recruitment drive as will Haven

.Has Morty has said I thought Barrow would hold their own this season as they had a decent sized squad with some good quality but a few Injuries early doors left them low on options and when you look at the standard of opposition week in week out there are very few easy games in there now.Luckily most of our local based players are on longer Contracts so that should stop the Haven rumour mill starting as soon as they win promotion and really not sure where they will get the 10-12 players from that they will need to compete next season but that is their problem not ours.

Probably from Town & Barrow if rumours are correct - and the merry go round starts again. Can't see much changing at DP unless there is some serious investment from somewhere.

A problem with injuries in training and a late pull out through sickness hardly warrants the 'things I'd rather not go into' quote.

If that's all it was, why not just say that?Anyone else get the feeling were getting fed bull? Or the club playing cards close to their chest, as with the whole Olstrum mystery.

Totally agree with this post. What is there to tempt Chris Thorman to stay, even if there was a chance,  when all he seems to experience is disappointment and frustration?

  11. Never heard the post match comments, what did Chris say? Think its about time we had a clear out of players who don't want to train ( if that is the problem).  Seems like the secret society down at DP. Come on WTRLFC what is going on - do you not want promotion?
