  1. He has sped our play up quite a bit, maybe it explains why we were so off last week with him having to go off injured. Misses out Sunday due to concussion but Brandon Moore returns so we should be fine in that position.
  2. We don't have local youngsters.......they are all snapped up by the Sl clubs. If they don't make it then some will filter back to the Championship others will go to the amateur game and some will quit.
  3. I think our pack is pretty strong to be fair. In my opinion its the quality you have in your backs that could make it a rowt on a fine day. We are looking pretty much close to full strength going on the squad named. I feel a bit better for having Moore, Barber, Robinson and the two DR lads in.
  4. If true then it would suggest some fiddling of the numbers going on or that we had less home fans than we normally do although that does go along with the thinking that the Fax V Fev games are no longer the big draw they were.
  5. I think getting rid of DR would dumb down the Championship for a little while but then when some fringe SL players realise they are struggling to get regular game time at SL clubs they will inevitabley move down to the Championship which should in theory raise the standard in the Championship. SL would never go for it though as they can just stockpile players at the moment and with a combination of DR, Loans, "season long signings", and whatever other things to bend the rules they can come up with, they know they can use the Championship teams to develop their players with very little risk of losing them. We are Super Leagues bitches.
  6. Oi thats my rumour. In all seriousness though I don't think its too likely as the only player that didnt really perform in the backline against Sheffield was Woodburn Hall and I cant see Uate playing centre. I thought your assesment of our game against Sheffield was spot on though and it were a total contrast to a couple of our pre-season performances. The only thing I would say though is that last season we would not have won that game especially going 7 points behind with the same amount of minutes left and a couple of tries disallowed that on the replay look perfectly fine along with a sin binning for an aggresive tackle. I may be clutching at straws but as we won its what im clinging to. I can't see anything but a comfortable Fev win so Im hoping Fev are complacent and we catch them cold.
  7. I would have fancied Haven with that handicap on a normal pitch but on the plastic I think London will be somewhere near that.
  8. So handicap wise.... Leigh -16 V Sheffield Toulouse -34 V Oldham London -32 V Whitehaven Swinton -4 V Dewsbury Widnes -20 V Batley York -8 V Bradford Fev -12 V Halifax I said I would take Toulouse with anything up to -36 so Im still taking that. Nothing really stands out apart from maybe Batley at -20. I expect Widnes to win the game comfortably but not sure if its 20 points comfortably.
  9. I were hoping after last week the bookies would continue to get the odds out early but looks like it were just a once off.
  10. Fax V Fev games don't have the same sort of pull that they used to have. That was clear at the home and away games last season with maybe only a hundred or so travelling away fans at each. Our home games against Fev used to be our biggest attended games but last season it was in line with games against teams like Batley.
  11. True. Still quite a number of Fax fans that boycott this fixture. Its sad but its hard to argue with their reasoning. Game wise it should be an easy win for Fev as we were pretty poor against a very average Sheffield team so Im just hoping for can compete for a big chunk of the game and anything else would be a bonus.
  12. I would say the ideal DR partner is a Sl team that comes in to your catchment area and snaps up most of the promosing U16 and under age group players and then when you do get players on DR at least they are from your town.
  13. Yeah all home wins. I think Leigh comfortably beat Sheffield if they play anything like they did Sunday and the same goes for Fev beating Fax. Toulouse Im taking them on the handicap with anything up to about 36. London easy home win, Swinton a tight one but Im not expecting Dewsbury to get out of the bottom 4 this year so going to go with home advantage. Widnes easy win against another team I see in the bottom 4. York game could be tight but think York will have too much despite their poor showings so far this season.
  14. Toulouse probably only had to play ok for 15 minutes to win that game. York look lacking in fire power from what we have seen of them so far this year.
  15. Thanks just spent 10 minutes thinking I were going mad when I couldnt find it.
  16. Dual Reg boils down to SL greed no matter which way you look at it. We are just pawns in their game.
  17. Dam talkerd ourselves out of it. Its going to be the only winner now. I read somwhere that Dewsbury completed in the upper 80's percentage wise. That's some beating if true and could be worrying signs for the season. I wonder when they will pull the trigger and bring the Bradford lads in that are sat in the stands for Hull Kr.
  18. I got itchy feet over this one and took it out. I saw the match highlights from Bradford V York game and it were a bit of a mud bath. On paper they should beat the handicap quite easily but its likely to be a slogathon in the forwards and I don't see a massive gulf in quality in the packs.
  19. Its about things been bigger than sport. Its about doing the right thing by your mates.
  20. Thats printing money. Oldham are going to struggle to be competitive this season. Im going to have a bit of that. Now just for giggles we all know that bookies love people betting on accas im going to give it a whirl. Will try to put them in order which I think is best value(Using Bet365) as can't get more than 50p on at Sky):- Widnes -10 Toulouse -10 Halifax -4 Leigh -10 London -8 Fev -12
  21. Hardest one to pick this week is probably the Haven V Swinton game. I suspect the others will be comfortable wins for Leigh, Toulouse, Fev, London,Fax and Widnes.
  22. It may have been your Chairman's own money. I don't really see it as helping one of your rivals financially though, apart from having their coach with them at the hotel Im not sure what advantage they gain from it?
  23. In regards to the Whys? Oldham probably can not afford to pay for the hotel and sometimes things are bigger than sport and sometimes just because its the right thing to do. For those people who found the young lad and the weight of feeling responsibly for your players welfare, its hard to even begin to imagine what they went through and are going through. The RFL refusing to change the hotel, when they spend money on all sorts of stupid stuff, is quite frankly a disgrace. State of mind when it suits them.
  24. I saw that tweet and cringed. Players(and their families) come and go but when its all said and done theres only one group of people that are still there through it all.
