  1. It would probably be England and Lebanon based on WC finishing places. Have the Euros, MEA and Americas underneath with potential play off qualification to the 8 team competition for the winners
  2. Did you go to the trouble of taking that photo just so you could post something negative on here? Just enjoy the game if you're there
  3. If there was a 4/6 Nations over here next year with venues already booked then I'm sure they'd be able to sell a lot of tickets for the Aus vs NZ game on the back of last nights game
  4. If RL and in particular the IRL doesn't capatalise on this then they never will. Announce a Four Nations asap and get tickets on sale. Play more internationals on BBC. If RL had an international game like RU it would grow massively
  5. They've definitely attracted one new fan to the women's game. My wife has had no interest in RL, doesn't really watch any sport. I put the England women's game on last night and she started watching it and got hooked. She watched the full game and then asked me when and where the semi final was being played. Unfortunately we can't make it to the game live but she said she would have gone if we could. She'll definitely be watching it on TV though
  6. I think it would be better if we took events around the country. 9s tournaments, beach rugby league, PDRL, wheelchair RL and touch/tag RL. They could be taken to different cities over a weekend and be played at various venues across that city.
  7. Has the good viewing figures for the WC as well as the coverage on many of the news programmes, plus all the social media and online attention RL is currently getting had an impact on season ticket sales at SL, Championship and League 1 clubs? Have any clubs seen an increase in sales for this time of year?
  8. This rippin and tearin guy seems like a troll who's just on here to argue and wind people up. If we just don't respond then he has nothing left. Don't play into his hands
  9. We all have slightly different ideas for international tournaments and fixtures but we all agree that we want to see more international RL with games for everyone. Why aren't the IRL announcing anything? We need an organised calendar announcing asap
  10. If there were regular tournaments each year at the end of the season plus 2/3 mid season internationals then I'm sure money through TV deals, spectators and sponsorship would gradually increase, especially if they get the media coverage this WC has generated. If there were confirmed mid season tests against France and a 4/6/8 nations tournament already locked in at the end of the season I'm sure they could sell these to sponsors and TV channels on the back of the WC. I think ticket sales would be strong too
  11. I think next week game is going to have a massive start. Samoa will fire into us and we'll be doing the same. Think the defence might be more brutal than it was today, especially the first few sets
  12. Great game. Best team won. Be a tough game for England next week
  13. What will that take the total capacity to? It's good to see Wakefield getting an upgrade. Hopefully it will encourage attendances to improve. Lot of potential in Wakefield
  14. The blanket coverage by the BBC and the strong viewing figures as well as the social media and news stories on several channels will have massively increased the profile of RL at the moment. Are clubs and the RFL capatalising on this to entice kids to take up the game, sell season tickets, attract sponsors etc? It needs to be done now whilst people are talking about RL and seeing it all over the TV
  15. Yeah the problem would be how much money they would lose in the short term. They could exploit the increased profile it would bring but don't know how much of the shortfall in TV money it would cover Long term I think it would help RL grow and become more valuable but not sure if SL could survive to reap any rewards of terrestrial TV exposure
  16. How much money would RL lose if they had a joint TV deal with Ch4 and the BBC instead of Sky. Would the increased profile and potential increased sponsorship this could bring be worth the drop in TV money? Could a few years with 2 games a week on terrestrial TV have long term benefits for the growth of the sport?
  17. I'd say the opposite to the OP. Even though the crowd was a bit disappointing if they keep taking events to Huddersfield, with a bit better promotion I think they could build interest in the town. There's enough fans in and around Huddersfield to draw big crowds to events they've just got to engage with the population better. As well as Huddersfield there's Batley, Dewsbury, Halifax, Brighouse, Elland all within 20 minutes of the stadium. So plenty of RL fans nearby. How much promotion was there for the RL QF? Did they take the trophy around the schools? Visit local community clubs, town centres? Once the Quarter Finalists were known did any Australian or Lebanese players visit schools? Has anyone been a guest on the live matches promoting ticket sales for upcoming games? I'm sure if this game had been pushed in the local community it could have sold a lot more tickets
  18. First time I've watched it and I really enjoyed it. I'm now a convert. Looking forward to watching all the games
  19. Yeah as do Toulouse. I was talking about them running academies and junior development in other areas of France which will give players from these areas a pathway into Catalans SL squad with the ones that don't make staying and playing for their local Elite 1 or 2 club.
