  1. "Eunuch" my Bezzie, with you being well connected, perhaps you can confirm the following. My reliable contacts inform me that Thunder are going back to part time players next season, Thunder BoD are disappointed with this seasons performance and the resulting costs. Consequently in order to reduce cost Bett's will be leaving Thunder and Thorman will be appointed for next season. Have you heard anything on the grapevine ?
  2. Well done "Eunuch" my bezzie, hope you get a win and a good gate. Good Luck.
  3. Unfortunately if the B.o D came out and publicized the clubs financial details it may cause panic with their suppliers and creditors, creating a bankruptcy threat that isn't really there, yes money is tight but it can be managed, loose talk and speculation can only make the situation worse.
  4. Donald correct, also if another club wants to sign a player whilst he is in contract, that club would have to buy his contract, hence a transfer fee.
  5. You are missing the point, the club is in between a rock and a hard place. If they paid the players money without a reduction the club may go to the wall, if they it made easy for players to leave, with the consequences of not being able to turn out enough numbers to field a full team, not fulfilling their match commitments, and resulting in the Rlfc kicking them out. Putting the new stadium development in jeopardy. No doubt the RLFC are aware whats going on and monitoring the situation carefully. Davos the B.o D. in my opinion have no other option, if you want a future for the club, please put up & shut up.
  6. RLFC require documentation to prove Town had released him from any contract. Regarding the breaking of contracts the Town players were told of the reduction of their contract money 2 days prior to the Rlfc's transfer deadline date. Players that wanted to leave didn't have time to meet the deadline, and had no option but to accept the reduced terms. Town B.o.D in my opinion made the correct decision, if the playing staff had found other clubs Town would not have enough players to fulfill their fixtures and that would have been a disaster, good decision by the B.o D.
  7. Teare can't play on Sunday, it is part of Towns release agreement.
  8. According to my info Teare signed for Town for a £12k contract sum, this is not paid in one lump sum, but made as monthly payments through out the season. Therefore Town have not incurred the full £12K. Haven have signed Teare on a match to match basis until the end of season.
  9. Towns B.o.D. is in my opinion correct in the way they are approaching the problem. If they explain too much they may cause panic, say too little they create suspicion. If to much fuss is made of this situation it may cause creditors to panic, resulting in making the problem far worse than it really is.
  10. It could also require teams to be full time professionals.
  11. I also thought Teare's agreed signing on fee was £12k, was he paid or part paid ? seems odd if he has signed for Haven, if owed a signing on fee ?
  12. Championship & Championship 1 clubs, should explore the possibility of breaking away from the RFL and vote to take the Challenge cup competition with them. If this could be legally done, then a new league of 16 or 18 clubs could sell the TV live screening of matches to the BBC, ITV etc, and also sell the challenge cup games. Income that is raised can then go to the clubs in this new league. RLF, Super league & Sky TV, can then go and sling their hook.
  13. I hope, that if players are re-called by their parent club without fulfilling there agreed loan period, then the parent club would have to stand the cost of plane tickets.
  14. I preferred it when there was just one league, although the changes they have made to make the game more open and faster and having summer rugby is a huge improvement imo. However when there was one league with 32 teams, even if you were getting stuffed by the top clubs, rugby fans got too see the top teams with international stars. Plus majority if not all of the clubs had a reserve team and played in a meaning full competition, with decent support from the fans.
  15. Hang on dkw, in no way have I criticized Thorman, and I have stated imo he is a good coach. In the championship league where majority of clubs are strapped for cash, they employ a part time coach, which co-insides with a semi pro part time team, in order to keep within their budgets and allow more money for recruitment of players. If you find this garbage and contains utter disdain, you seriously need help.
  16. Thorman in my opinion is a good coach, unfortunately you hit the nail on the head, pointing out he is a full time in a part time semi pro setup and probably having other expences attached to his job, house, car, fuel etc. With all these costs to consider it reduces the amount of money that is available for recruitment of players. Team success is all about money.
  17. Eunuch, my bezzie, I was wondering when you would crawl from underneath your stone. On the contrary I am not against a new stadium, I was advocating caution, to many other clubs and businesses have committed to similar proposals and find they have ended up having no say or controls over activities where they raise revenue, in areas such as bar sales, food & snacks etc. Allerdale council will appoint a management company, and pass on all the their running costs to the clubs that use the stadium. Eunuch you are wrong, I am advising caution, if Allerdale intends to subsidize the new stadium you have great deal.
  18. I am a Haven supporter, if the D.P. grandstand is sinking the H.S.E. would not allow the stand to be used, therefore the stand must be fit for use? Whilst the funding to build a new stadium looks like it will be secured at no cost to Town or Reds, the running costs for the use of the stadium will be charged to the end users. The stadium will not be owned by the users, and I have asked these questions before but no one seems to have an answer. If a management company runs the stadium and the on site facilities Bars, Catering, Refreshments etc, do they keep the income ? Do the management company, cut the grass, mark out the pitches, clean the stadium and pass on the costs, work the clubs get done now for free by volunteers. Costs for office staff etc. There lots of hidden costs and charges to be sorted out and considered, will the local council tax payers be happy if they end up having to subsidize the stadium? Until Town & Reds get all the answers in writing don't jump in. This applies to all R/L clubs if relegated the RLFC reduces their funding accordingly. What's this got to do with a Haven supporter, I am an Allerdale council tax payer.
  19. Luke Broadbent is reported to have signed on loan to Haven, I thought he was supposed to be on loan to Town for the rest of this season, can anyone confirm if Town released him ?
  20. Being a derby game, I would have liked to go to the Town match tomorrow, but it clashes with Havens home game. "However" I think you are being far to critical regarding not recruiting players for the for the Championship, at the time majority of opinion on this forum with the exception of recruiting the extra 1 or 2 the team was good enough to compete in this league. No one realizes the huge differences between the quality of the leagues until they get there. Barrow had the advantage of their previous experience of Championship rugby and they used it to plan and improve their set up and recruitment to maintain a Championship club.
  21. You will be telling us next that they are all Aliens from another planet and are telepathic mind reading time travellers.
  22. I was at the Haven game yesterday, and thought Thaler did a good job as he always does. However, most fans of a loosing team they always want a scapegoat and blame the Ref for their teams losses.
  23. Try the railway station, just a kick in the Ass off the ground
  24. Eunuch my bezzie this is for you. I thought Town contributed well to a hard fought dower game. Firstly I would wish to state that in my opinion there was a good atmosphere and banter between fans, with exception of a couple incidents, Thorman giving signing to Haven fans, A club coach should have more sense and better judgement and rise above fans goading. I also disagree totally with Haven fans chanting "Fat ####" at Jamie Doran it was personal , insulting and out of order. Regarding the game, Towns line defence was well coached moving up and and closing down Havens superior possession advantage, and Towns goal line defence was excellent preventing Haven from grounding the ball over the try line on 5 -6 occasions. I have took note on fans comments on here regarding Forbers form this season, calling for him to be dropped from the team, at Sundays game I thought Doran except from his excellent kicking game was generally nullified not making even half a break and his usual distribution wasn't there, and my conclusion was whilst Forber isn't getting rave notices he has the experience and ability to make space for Doran to do the business. EUNUCH all the best for the Season Your Bezzie.
  25. How can you justify buying new floodlights to accommodate playing a night match that only occurs every 2 or 3 years. Playing summer rugby as more or less made floodlights unnecessary.
