  1. If you hear any interview with the 3 spine players they spend a lot of time discussing and practicing those "off the cuff plays" exchanging messages etc. I think that proves your point.
  2. I am surprised at the number of people tipping Salford over Saints. As league leaders they have to be fav surely?
  3. I do wonder when I hear teams improve and a player revolt as to whether the players decided how to play in those few games. It did happen at Salford under one of the awful coaches we had (take a pick from Greg, McRae,Harvey etc) I don't recall which one it was though.
  4. It is, which is why Rowley deserved the plaudits turning round the mess Marshall left. Top Teams have all the structures in place and are adapting a team to play their way, teams like Huddersfield, Wakefield and us are building from a standing start. It may be exactly what Smith has to do at Hull too.
  5. Personally I think Watson is judged harshly. He had an aim this season and it was to get to the playoffs and improve on last year. No one can say he hasn't done that. Next year will most likely see a different type of play from Huddersfield. This is why I think he deserves a coaching mention. It takes time to rebuild from scratch something Wigan and Saints don't do. Still bitter he walked away but that isn't clouding my judgement just enhances the sweetness of the win.
  6. The money also helps to run these things such as academy, Marwen cut ours when we were ruled out of the license. It cut costs. I think Salford played some good stuff under Watson, he has the knack of building a tight knot unit. Flair will probably come in time if it isn't there already. I have no idea how much Yates or Watson were offered and it is none of my business but there was compensation owed for both and that's where the money comes in. Personally think watson should have been in ahead of Wool.
  7. I hope not, he was awful last week against Warrington. Rather see Chris Atkin play there.
  8. I personally think Watson's impact at Huddersfield is a greater achievement than Woolf at Saints. The money is a factor in tempting players like Yates away from their contracts, Watson himself was tempted by the money (either personally or for the team) This isn't anything most of the top teams don't also have. Rowley had to completely rebuild the spine of the team. Marshall left the club in a mess. He was rebuilt that.
  9. I think the common factor with Watson and Rowley is probably Ian Blease. He does the research on the players coming in, whether they will fit into the club and whether their attitude is aligned. Under Koukash money was thrown at the squad and it didn't build a team. This way of working at Salford is probably true at Wakefield. It may be what Powell is attempting at Warrington. The big question is whether Pearson will influence the feel and attitudes at the club in a negative way.
  10. Watson hadn't been a a coach at the top level and he was far better than the lot that had been! Salford had coaches with a lot of experience in the past and all couldn't perform on a limited budget, Noble and McRae being the worst of the bunch. Then the other lot such as Marshall and Harris are best forgotten.
  11. We were fined 1£5,000 for it so there are consequences regardless
  12. That was an awful game not sure what the pen count will be in a game that wasn't dirty. Salford kids and the returners from injury did OK too much dropped ball.
  13. Salford had to do it and decided not to play one of the games. warrington awarded 24-0 win and Salford hit with £15,000 fine Salford forced to forfeit game with Warrington due to having just 13 fit men – TotalRL.com | Rugby League Express | Rugby League World
  14. Or if he hadn't had an affair with his own brother's wife? Whatever the truth he doesn't come out of it well.
  15. Because we aren't as easily confused. We know City means the "Noisy Neighbours" Salford City are new comers to the professional ranks.
  16. Not sure that's true. My family were all red.
  17. Not many have moved for money in the last few years. We have lost a lot of players most have gone for longer contracts. I'd say many have actually stalled or suffered injuries such as Evalds.
  18. It is something that seems to happen at Salford, maybe it is the lack of of pressure. In recent years we have seen the likes of Jackson Hasting, Moose, Brodie and many others rekindle the love for the game. It may be the family club vibe but it works.
  19. Well that wasn't the Salford I have become used to. Bodie Croft failed to offload twice and therefore bombed tries. Sneyd dropping the ball. There was something lacking in the fluidity of the team. Hull dug in and gained position from pens for the tries, without those pens they struggled to get out of their half for long periods. Still no idea what the pen was for in front of the sticks which led to Hull taking the lead. Really nervy performance by Salford, good sliding defence from Hull. Need to really up the game for Cas. This is a game Salford would have previously lost so I guess we are progressing.
  20. Sorry to hear that. Every game you attend she will be there in spirit with you.
  21. The problem was Marwen caused us to be deducted points for the failure of the CVA we all knew he was never going to pay. Ian Blease and Paul King have done something special with very limited budgets.
