Put off Bohemian Rhapsody by the lukewarm reviews so went to see A Star Is Born instead.........big mistake , Bradley Cooper produced,directed,and starred in it and don`t we know it . Slow paced and he just simply growled and grizzled his way through it . One giant ego trip in my opinion , but then nearly 90% of people liked it on Rotten Tomatoes so what do i know .

Last night Do It Yourself - Ian Dury and The Blockheads , agree with previous posters on here re 10,000 Maniacs and Wishbone Ash...........Creedences version of Heard It Through The Grapevine is well worth a listen .

Why does it seem that every new announcer on TV these days speaks with a Northern Irish , Scottish or Welsh accent ? How about a few Cumbrian/Lancashire/Yorkshire announcers to balance things up a bit .

Really enjoyed Black Earth Rising and Strangers , some decent dramas about at the minute .

A Hull K R fan won on Countdown the other week , won at least 5 days running , missed whether he made it to the finals though .

Anyone else fed up of hearing the egotistical whining of Pogba and Hazard , one obviously thinks he`s a better manager than Mourinhio and the other has always wanted to play for Real Madrid as any other Belgian would .The only reasons players want to go to Real is for the money , the fact you only have about a dozen competitive games a season and all the other players are as good as you are , so the work load is far less. More money for less effort .

Dr Who started brilliantly with Christopher Ecclestone and then David Tennant on its comeback several years ago , and has been on the downhill ever since . Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi were good Doctors but hampered with poor scripts and an ever growing band of companions/hangers on . Last night though was the pits Jodie Whittaker is a good actress but completely mis-cast .The more excited she got the more she sounded like Jane Horrocks . The so called companions were wooden . The script again was woeful , not so much Dr Who then , more Bubble from absolutely fabulous .

Rory is one of my all time favourite guitarists , no showboating just plays it as he feels it .

Gave the match a miss last night , sick of meaningless games ,instead caught documentaries on REM , Kenny Rodgers ,Creedance Clearwater and Black Sabbath on their final tour on sky arts , what a great live band Sabbath were .

John Simm looks like he is on to another winner with the new drama Strangers , got off to a cracking start last night .

Saw a Little Egret by the banks of the Derwent behind the Workington Reds ground on Sunday , first time i`ve been lucky enough to see one .

Why at the end of each programme of a drama series does it then show you whats happening in next weeks episode? That`s the whole point about drama , it`s drama , we don`t want to know .

If at all possible i go for the Basil Fawlty accidental elbow trick , works a treat.

Further to the Raiders of the Lost Ark comment previously and how some films can be watched over again , Blazing Saddles was on the other night , knew all the lines , but the timing and some of the facial expressions just crease me up . Best comedy film ever .

Thank Heavens the Schools start back this week . Had enough of going for a coffee or for a meal and having kids tearing about while their parents either ignore them , or come out with terrifying comments like "put that down Timothy or i will get very angry" , or "Don`t throw beans at that nice lady " ,apart from anything else it will cut down on food waste as the little blighters leave just about everything that`s put in front of them .

Talking Heads True Stories on last night , forgot what a magnificent album it was , as were most Talking Heads albums .

Caught a news item last night concerning a Woman who ran a stable for young people with disabilities to ride horses , She owned the field opposite and had the gate chained and locked .Some "travellers" arrived cut the chain and lock and took the field over .They interviewed people who said they had heard loud music to 3am,witnessed fights , a dog had injured a goat in the next field,they had run up a bill over £100 in the pub and walked without paying ,and they showed the mess that was all around the field . The Woman contacted the local Council and they said they would help Her evict the "travellers" , but it would cost HER £20,000....What sort of country are we living in when things like this are allowed? If this was me and you they would hound us to death , but the "travelling community" it appears are above reproach .

Played Marianne Faithfulls Broken English Album last night , forgot how good it was .Ballad Of Lucy Jordan and Her version of Lennons Working Class Hero standouts .

Funnily enough just about to listen to an Animals album , "we gotta get outta this place " seems to fit nicely .

When i used to submit my tax returns , i always wrote to HMRC , The advantages of this are that you know you`re not getting scammed because the reply usually took 3 months .
