I don't have an issue with Hull FC being graded as an A club. They are absolutely the kind of club that we should have in SL. I think it's one for their fans and board to be annoyed about that they don't play great rugby!
The owner of Hull FC has stated the sport is unsustainable, bar a couple of clubs with wealthy benefactors.
It seems Hull FC are still repaying the Covid loan.
They do not own their stadium and match days means the external takings go to either/both soccer club/Council.
The attendances are decreasing yet despite the off - field situation they are granted an A grading.
Struggling to find how the sport improves if the 'big ' clubs are in decline.

Been to court for beating a woman up at a football match apparently, so they've sacked him. Bit hypocritical considering the way they acted over Dion Aiyre, this is a case from last year where's he's just been sentenced.
I thought he was sentenced,at Tamworth Court,Australia, last September for that.
He was ordered to stay away from alcohol in public.

'Alleged' being a key word in that report particularly when the RFL don't seem to be getting involved.
I don't think they got involved at Salford when a number of players, businesses, and organisations were not paid.
Same CEO may be key.

I would be interested to know how the council have got around the legalities of this. Surely there must be conditions and stipulations, for instance how it will benefit the wider community. Councils are not allowed to hand out money unconditionally to any individual or private companies.
It's a bit rich this criticism of Salford/Salford Council coming from followers of Wakefield.
Been some bickering amongst Super League club followers since IMG reimagined the Super League.

I seem to remember it was inferred,by Ian Lenagan, that Castleford should have addressed the problems...

It now seems all the clubs, and Sporting Chance, have failed in the rehabilitation.
Not good publicity for the sport...

Some IMG “sceptics” would benefit from reading this and the follow up articles.
I read it.Chelsea and Formula 1.
I benefited. Learned a new word.

Things are certainly being reimagined since IMG jumped on board.
plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

“ when you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression”
that quote always seems relevant in these things
Seems relevant to IMG and owners of Super League clubs.
On topic - never took Devereux seriously since the charity box incident at the SPOTY awards in the 90's.
Don't think Barton has got that low - just yet.

Absolute nonsense - have you not seen the latest stuff that has happened because of IMGs involvement.
And anyway IMG don't 'run the game'.
I haven't seen the latest stuff that has happened because of IMG's involvement.
It isn't of benefit solely to Super League clubs though,I bet.
Who does run the game,now?

Looking at the article again Batley have looked and corrected the culture around the club.
The death was 2019.It appears some advice is to be given for the campaign ahead in 2024.
Awful publicity for that club and the sport.
Could be some vigorous drug searches for those entering, and leaving France,if connected with rugby league.
Trying to silence comments - given the BBC reported it - is also slightly unsettling.
-
Amazingly prescient reading the news concerning Batley Bulldogs on the BBC website News section, while silence seems to be the plan from officialdom.

Newcastle Thunder hold another fans forum/update on Monday 4th December.
I cannot see any fixtures being released until it is finalised if they are in,or out,of the 2024 campaign.
If the season ain't starting until March, maybe January is when the fixtures are released.

Saint Gaudens have signed a player who was in The Championship in the season recently ended.
Thought he may have been in the squad.
Home debut next Friday night may be the plan.
-
Aaron Levy gone to Hunslet.

Are there points for the WCC?
I thought IMG really raised the profile of St Helens, though.

From a distance the world looks Red and Green
That's not very inclusive! Even the other code is ahead of the game.
Could attract a new audience.

Nah, most Super League clubs are in small towns, so they’re fully included in my rant believe me. I’m fed up of “heartlands supporters” of all persuasions telling us we can’t do new things in order to attract a new audience, and should instead focus on “protecting the heartland” when it’s obvious that almost all heartland clubs’ fans are only interested in their club, not the wider game or the long-term welfare of the sport.
We need new audiences, as the “traditional” ones don’t show up. Time to focus on new customers and let the old ones whinge to themselves if they don’t like some of the things we need to do in order to attract t those people. Because if we keep looking backwards based on what that lot say then in a few years we’re dead.
Where do you attract the new audiences from?
I thought IMG had been brought in for that...
Coincidental it was Ken Davy who introduced IMG.
Going well,thus far.
Big city clubs, especially. One of whom effectively saved big club Hull FC and attract decent World Cup game attendances and Magic Weekend attendances.

What drives up standards is clubs having much better off field setups, generating much greater revenue, having better coaching at all levels, having better youth setups, spending more money and signing better players. The kind of stuff that the IMG criteria encourages.
I am fairly certain IMG have not done anything close to encouraging better coaching - better youth set ups - signing better players and spending more money.
They failed with the broadcast deal and want LED advertising boards:they also go public on a recently promoted club getting relegated almost immediately.
They may have encouraged an author to write a follow up book - After the Thatcher Years The Most Successful Era Of Rugby League- With Wood And Rimmer!
Worrying - Is it not?

Not so sure what you mean by u15s as these are not first team ready. What I am referring to is local players either in academy or reserves. Some of these had repped their country at U16 and U18 and had been offered terms by SL clubs but Thunder chose to pick SL dual reg above them. These players were offered the role of match day mascot or water carrier and watched from the sideline as we slid to another defeat wondering what they had to do to get a place. I fear that Thunder have lost at least 3 years of their academy set up who have either been lost to the game or other clubs!
Exactly why Academy coaches should be the best coaches.
The standard is slipping and no one appears interested except those allegedly wanting a great product for broadcast revenue of Super League games.
Lewis, and others, seem to make greater progression away from Super League Academy and Reserve sides.
Yet the 'elite ' clubs benefit by 'running' reserve and Academy sides.

Is Thunder sharing one of the Newcastle area's RU grounds out of the question? The likes of Blaydon, Gateshead and Percy Park (Tynemouth) have much better facilities (including a proper stand) than Coach Lane - and their pitches are designed for 'rugby'.
They have used a rugby union club stadium in the past.Forget which one.
I was interested to find this - https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/other-sport/rugby-league/gateshead-thunder-new-grounds-hope-1366011
Since then, that soccer club was taken over and improved on and off the field.Helped by the opportunity of promotion being available and attendances increasing.
Nostalgia, history and heritage can be mentioned - to accompany a name change
Be good as the name Newcastle is now synonymous with Saudi and the despotic regime - South Shields known for the long history of the first Muslims in England, from The Yemen, the people snd country recently massacred by Saudi.
( Best not mention which country made the weapons of mass destruction )
South Shields Thunder.
The owner of the soccer club recently publicly stated he is selling the club due to illness.

Keighley owners at is again.
Apparently they are insulted at being ranked 30 out of 35 so have issued the most pathetic statement.
Absolute tin pot of a club.
Which part was factually incorrect?
Keighley, hardly prescient, made a statement prior to any utterance from IMG.
Firstly,Super League clubs wanted to continue Magic Weekends, which IMG wanted to halt - and then todays controversy on IMG's second announcement, acter clubs voted for them, apparently understanding what their actions were to be.
https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/clubs-vote-in-favour-of-img-proposals
Keighley simply reminded their followers what has occurred relative to themselves since IMG entered the sport.
