  1. I shouldn't respond to you - I don't tell fibs.Just what I picked up. If you don't believe me,or this lot https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/s/toulouse-ready-keep-funding-opponents-travel-costs-next-year-if-relegated Try rugby league journalists - https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/toulouse-olympique-face-500000-bill-to-fund-opponents-travel-costs
  2. Brilliant.Another wasted train ticket - apart from seeing the delights of Perpignan and the delights of the accommodation. I thought England was good at chasing supporters away from the game.
  3. What is happening with your Academy? How can Leigh Leopards be taking it over?
  4. Toulouse will have to spend a fortune. Should Mr Houles leave his position as head coach,as he has mentioned in the past, the cost of persuading a new head coach to take a precarious position, being in charge of so many new players,as well as paying for the clubs opponents travelling there and auxiliary costs will be astronomical. If they have the IMG points required they should save on team costs and just take the money and remain bottom of Super League.
  5. Josh Guzdek,a full back, has been released by Sheffield Eagles. He has played for Keighley Cougars before. He isn't 30 yet, though. I would worry about the lack of height and ability to defend high kicks with the backline that has been assembled - despite the one tall winger from Huddersfield. Not much of a winning, confidence culture there either.Despite some of the squad from 2022,the 2023 campaign wasn't the best for the Keighley returnees or lads from Whitehaven. Not many games so a good start to 2024 will be essential. Age factor may kick in - especially for play - offs at back end of the season.
  6. Albi,who lost at Saint Gaudens last week,lead 12 - 0 at h/t v Carcassonne.
  7. It has either been via the X accounts of journalists, or the communication to Salford club owners, but the central funding to clubs has been drastically cut,and there needs to be sell -outs of the Grand Final and the international games v Tonga,or it could be considerably worse. RFL Commercial hold the responsibility....and the purse strings.
  8. I thought Championship and League 1 clubs,in the main, voted for IMG. There is even less money coming into the sport. It seems the Crème de la crème of Super League isn't that well thought of and the whole of the sport suffers. I await the improvements once IMG get going. Only 2 clubs down and out since IMG got involved. The majority of the rest just down...
  9. You got a club shirt? I was told to wait a couple of months. Well, how very rugby league is that? Corey Willis was top points scorer in Elit 2 with Villefranche, last year. I was shocked to see he didn't make the best side from the weekend. 2 other backs were named. He went to that school in Australia that has the reputation for producing NRL and Super League players. I can't get to Pia this weekend, but should make St Esteven in mid - October. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole day.The merchandise can wait...
  10. This was last weeks news - https://www.totalrl.com/14-team-super-league-idea-rubbished-as-part-of-imgs-plans-to-re-imagine-rugby-league/#:~:text=A 14-team Super League, throwing up its own challenges. The clubs voted for IMG. First the clubs retained Magic Weekend... It's going very well...
  11. Or London appointed an assistant coach who understands the business end of the season(s) are really when results matter.
  12. If you made it to. Saint Gaudens you would have enjoyed watching the demi d'ouverture and demi de melee,no doubt. I was amazed Corey Willis was playing in Elite 2 last season. Joy to watch.
  13. They have just agreed to waste some. https://treizemondial.fr/kevin-proctor-signe-a-carcassonne/ IMG should be sticking around with Super League for about another 10 years. Unless Carcassonne have enough off field ticky boxes filled it may not be cost effective getting involved.
  14. Pre-match meal at noon.25 Euros. At the stadium. 13.00 hrs under 17's v Albi. 15.30 hrs.Saint Gaudens kick off their Elite 1 season. Can't help with what there may be in the town on Sunday but the Jules Ribet stadium is part of a sports complex with a swimming pool. Weather forecast suggests over 30 degrees. https://fb.watch/nlvr7wiJU1/ https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0TaBZqpyvCK6uCKaZyv4c7uvCAyfoM4Q9unNaWVJJitvAqgkq4crJSTqJy8p7zepfl&id=100063756930711
  15. I shouldn't comment, but, well,it's all a bit deja vu. https://keighleycougars.uk/jack-miller-2023 His last contract meant nothing. Can he create? Did having Murrell and Chisholm as half back partners make him look better than he is? Can he kick from his hands? Nothing more than a support player. This signing, and the 30 yrs+ yrs olds, will mean another huge overhaul in the unlikely event of any success in 2024. I am still trying to work out the changes to the spine of the side - especially for London,on Sunday gone. That's my lot.I've left the country so won't comment anymore. Very best wishes to the true Cougars supporters.
  16. Bit harsh on Leigh Leopards. As I recall, catching a glimpse on television,Derek Beaumont had his joyous celebrations interruped by the idiots on the pitch. He remonstrated with them;there and then. He then denounced them while speaking on air. Massive credit to him.
  17. Rhys Lovegrove, and the players who left ,all seem to have had more success since leaving than the club. Mr Henderson & Brenden Santi certainly proving the point.
  18. There may not be a League 1 as previously known. London Skolars have already withdrawn.
  19. So much for all the games commencing at the same time. The spirit of Jimmy Hill in the round ball sport from the 1970's at Coventry invoked at Halifax v Swinton Lions. Traffic problems lead to delayed kick off time.
  20. The other code, playing a World Cup in a country that will not be hosting a Rugby League World Cup, seem quite content to include a nation of dubious standards to the extent of a West Wales Riders/ Leeds Rhinos blow out score. Attracted 63k attendance. https://www.reuters.com/sports/france-thrash-namibia-96-0-worry-over-dupont-injury-2023-09-21/#:~:text=That was set by a,occasion to the south coast. Pinnacle of their game.Already got a good reputation.Blue chip sponorships.

  22. The London players may have been quite shocked as to why Rhys Lovegrove lost his position at Keighley because of results, yet someone with worse results gets a 2 years contract. Why that was announced when it was, like the signings of Sau and Foggin -Johnson baffles me,but then I'm very easily baffled. There may be even more motivation for London players, now. https://twitter.com/johnnyddavidson/status/1704402956647338248?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
  23. I thought IMG were on the job - https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/dec/15/london-img-transform-rugby-league The American involvement in the round ball game has certainly changed it.
  24. That is because jeopardy is very naughty https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/super-8s-to-be-scrapped-from-2019-super-league-bosses-confirm
