  1. Gastronomic analogies for footy players, supporters or clubs… starting with my favourites… Cronulla Sharks and Croquembouche Rarely executed successfully but desirable by many when it is.
  2. Pardon me, this comment has gone straight over my head. I really don’t know what you’re trying to say here.
  3. The story made its way to news.com.au. I thought he had a game left in him before he was relinquished by the NRL clubs. There are average halves in the NRL right now that Croft would make an improvement on. Good on Salford. edit note: I have no idea how well he has performed in the SL. Has he been good?
  4. That is really important. To control what you can control. I think cap exemptions for France and Wales in SL is a fantastic idea outside ring-fencing teams into SL. Unfortunately the clubs can’t see the forrest as they are not directed by the club membership. Fan power is less powerful when an owner’s will is paramount. Hard to draw the pacific nations into anything when the CBA for NRL players is yet to be ratified, but wouldn’t it be great if the RFL could organise a profit share with France, Wales, Samoa, Tonga and NZ for a two year, NH/SH series leading up to the WC. Leaving the Kangaroos out in the cold.
  5. That’s sensational. What on earth was the person thinking? I don’t see a strike coming though.
  6. Yeah, I would rather see two years of no internationals between Aus and England, only for England to come out and stick it up the Kangaroos out of the blue in France ‘25.
  7. NRL Friendlies start next weekend (all available on stream via Kayo as well) with the NRL putting up $100,000 prize money to the best performing team over the next fortnight of fixtures. Strangely the same figure awarded to the team winning the minor premiership.
  8. Penrith had Dah Dah Uniforms which were strangely not the supplier of the Penrith uniforms
  9. As a dual winner of “The Church” boat race, I beg to differ
  10. fighting each other on a night out while on All Stars camp. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-02-05/nrl-players-latrell-mitchell-and-jack-wighton-arrested/101932920
  11. What about obstruction, where the player runs behind a team mate. Where the referee makes a movement with the hand behind his back. They don’t get anymore difficult than that.
  12. I looked at the fixture lists and I seem to remember it being very haphazard and again, there are weekends with no fixtures played. It seems a little bizarre. Any explanation?
  13. This is fascinating. Especially after the club’s press release on their groundbreaking strategy to enhance the spectator experience by hiring a curry and hot dog van to go with a bouncy castle and change seating to the other side. The club is obviously going from strength to strength and with this enhanced experience coupled with £2.50 savings on tickets, I expect we will see a sell out for the opening match of the season!
  14. Funny, just reading my post back again, it doesn’t sound the way I intended. I started the “wish you were there thread”.
  15. I don’t understand why you feel it necessary to write snide comments like this when the discussion has been healthy with various opinions shared. No-one was intimating that it’s there yet. The very piece you quoted and remarked against, said exactly that it’s not there yet. Have a great New Year as well. Enjoy the break if you get one.
  16. Ok, so you may have missed your team winning the GF because your wife to be set the wedding in Spain on the same date as the GF. Or perhaps you missed GB dominating the Kangaroos at JJB in 2004. Or wishing you missed the final at Elland Road a few weeks later. Both big misses, but I thought I would look for lighter side experiences that you wish you were there, but missed. Mine was missing my seat at the game where Cameron Smith was sent to the sin bin for the first time in his career. Finished with a great win for the Sharks too I might add. What were the moments you wish you were there for?
  17. 10 of the 20 listed. The list wasn’t flooded with Aussie experiences, hardly surprising for a Brit paper. The article prompts me to consider a new thread.
  18. And that is a very key point. In saying that, there are still some very talented players available that didn’t merge across at a young age. If the idea is make headlines for the NRL, I reckon signing a big name from SA, NZ, England or France would do more than a Wallaby. If the idea is to jag a more banks for buck, pillaging junior stocks and young fringe representative players is the go.
  19. Interesting. Again, I think you are only considering the value of finance. There are other currencies that these nations are more affluent in, like playing stocks, culture and political influence.
