  1. A real game of two halves and great entertainment to go with it. You have to credit Leeds more than criticise Catalans for getting back into the game even when Newman was in the bin and Catalans did lose some players but in the second half they were so second best it didn't make much different. The Seguier try just showed once again why the six again is a terrible rule. Instead of Leeds getting to clear their lines with a penalty, Catalans conceding the six again to set their defence gave them the chance to pressure Leeds on their line. Of course Martin shouldn't have offloaded in the first place but that whole incident shouldn't have happened in the first place because Leeds should have been halfway down field.
  2. Despite the players who will be missing for Rovers it is still a good squad and should get the win.
  3. It sounded to me like the Keighley owners were saying they wanted 2 up 2 down with traditional P&R and not having it within the IMG system. We need as many clubs in Super League to be looking up and raise their standards to get to the level of Saints, Wigan etc and I feel adding an extra relegation place would just spook clubs into just focusing on trying to make sure that they get to still be in Super League from one season to the next which would entrench the big clubs at the top even more. Two promotion places will just encourage a mad scramble for promotion and IMO it's the short term thinking that the game needs to move away from.
  4. There was a time when Hull KR didn't have the money until Hudgell took over. I don't see why someone wouldn't be interested in investing in a championship club if they know that a high enough grading would make them a lot less likely to be relegated with the stability that could bring.
  5. Something like the NRL model where championship clubs can apply for Super League when they are ready or what IMG are proposing, so championship clubs aren't throwing all their money and gambling on short term success because they have to be promoted right now.
  6. They don't have an alternative plan, so far it has been "we want promotion and relegation waaah!"
  7. My team went down and then up again the following year in the middle eights. It never changed my mind about it being a ridiculous system that was rightfully scrapped.
  8. Peters will be demanding a response to last week and I think he will get one. Rovers by 8
  9. Once Rovers got that two score lead I felt comfortable that it would be enough and although Cross put Salford back in the game I felt we still had enough points in us to see the game out. The right edge is a lot better defensively than last year and in the second half there was a couple of big tackles on that side that stopped Salford.
  10. On YouTube I came across one from a Grand Final from the old Brisbane RL competition went on for some time.
  11. Rovers teams in the past few years might have folded after that last Wigan try, so to be resilient and get that last try to put Wigan away was pleasing. There is definitely an improvement in the forwards from last year and to me there seemed to be more aggression in defence.
  12. If group stages are being considered than maybe the Cup has had its day. Super League clubs would probably rather carry on with loop league fixtures rather than replace them with games against lower league teams. The top Championship clubs wouldn’t want too many Cup games as they will be wanting to put their focus on promotion. No amount of changing or tinkering will get the Cup to just being close to what it used to be. The league is the be all and end all and bringing in a group stage won’t do anything to improve the Cups standing to the league.
  13. There was nothing wrong with the start, as it showed that the journey to success starts with pre season, but instead of following on with game clips and finishing with the Super League trophy being lifted it then just goes into the standard generic shots of players. If you had no idea what Super League was beforehand you would still have no idea afterwards. It doesn't even at least show what the first game is or when it is going to be. Lazy effort, just like Sky Sports coverage generally.
  14. He was probably doomed when the Leeds fans started referring to him as Yank Lampard.
  15. I think the ideal one is something like Sky Friday night - 7:30pm ko Channel 4 game of the week - 1:00pm ko Sky Saturday night - 6:00pm ko
  16. Any promo that starts with best freakin’ night of my life would make me think “no it won’t”. That and the leopard print background just gives off tacky nightclub vibes.
  17. The idea should be that Super League is only as strong as its weakest clubs so the goal should be a league full of strong grade A clubs who are all capable of beating each other on any given day and will be difficult to predict who will finish where. That hopefully should drive up fan interest in terms of attendances and TV viewers and in turn attract more sponsors and the revenue streams that go with it.
  18. IMG won’t be sorting out new grounds or finding new fans for anyone because that’s the clubs problem, not theirs. IMG are simply telling the clubs what they have to do and it’s up to the clubs to do it.
  19. Also if you cut the head off the body will die. Super League is the only thing that brings in any kind of money and the funding that the Championship and League One gets is from the TV deal, so until the Championship and League One can get a decent TV deal of their own then the pro game is pretty much about Super League as without it the semi pro game will die. This is what IMGs proposals are about, trying to create an elite competition that is more attractive to broadcasters in order to get bigger TV deals so hopefully more money can trickle down.
  20. One of the complaints I have read on this forum over loop fixtures is that it is just a lazy way of getting spectators to part with their money instead of making an effort to engage with their fan bases to increase attendances. The usual pre & half time entertainment and fan zones will make games feel like more of an event rather than just turning up for the game and going straight home again. Looking on google maps there seems to be several fields around the LSV. Could Leigh not do anything around the ground?
  21. A reduced number of home games could push clubs into making a big deal of them being must attend, also club grounds now are becoming more than just somewhere to play their home games.
  22. I’m about halfway through Bad Sisters on Apple TV. I’ve been enjoying it so far.
  23. A 22 week league season with SL teams entering at the last 16 of the Cup and whatever playoff format is used will mean a 29/30 week season which for me is long enough. IMO giving the players a longer off season to recover is something that is needed.
  24. Boxing referee Mills Lane, although the first thing that came to mind when I saw this was that he was the referee in Celebrity Deathmatch.
