  2. Going to be no pushovers. They’ve come a million miles and have given us some real tests over the last couple of seasons.
  3. Absolutely brilliant that. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Agreed. However, whatever our feelings, perceptions, etc, for me it's time to move on now. A new era has begun, far more unexpectedly and excitingly than surely any of us could have dared expect. Dredging up stuff won't help - it's the future that counts from now on, Come on, you 'Yeds!
  5. Consistent refereeing? Applied the rules to both sides? Good performance? Fans happy with her? Hope the rfl don’t hear that…she’ll be running the line next week if they do!!
  6. ‘Bit of a scrappy one today,’ says Bailey Aldridge on the club’s Roughyeds feed on Instagram. Incidentally, the social media presence of the Roughyeds is unbelievable. The club is working its backside off. Tremendous stuff.
  7. We’re not going to steamroller and nil everybody. Key personnel changes make a difference. Good to get these boys who aren’t playing regularly into the swing of things. We don’t want to be found wanting and underdone against the top teams. With the knowledge and experience in our squad and coaching staff I reckon lesson learned from today and similar marches/results will be sharply pointed out and learned from. It will be interesting to see the result of Keighley v Crusaders. Cru could be the dark horses this year- as they were in fact last season. They could well take points off the supposed too teams.
  8. Liam Bent on a month’s loan from Widnes to Rochdale.
  9. Cast your minds back 18 months ago , or to any time over decades before that - anyone talking in such terms would have been laughed out of the room or be sent to have their medication checked! The movers and shakers behind all this are heroic. I can feel the excitement. I’d say they should run the country but no, let’s keep them for Oldham and give them every atom of support we can. Come on, you ‘Yeds!!!
  10. Neither have Hunslet, unforunately for them...
  11. Only conceding 16 points in 3 matches is unbelievable.
  12. I was telling my wife we’d be weakened out wide without Mo Agoro and Ben O’Keefe. Fortunately, she doesn’t listen to me much these days… Fantastic result, especially the nil. Anyone getting bored of Oldham battering teams yet? Me neither!!!
  13. No, wrong again. I was making it up - it's Cian on loan at Workington. I really must try to stop talking rubbish, just for a change!
  14. I'm sure I read that he's gone on loan somewhere - but I might be making that up.
  15. Mo Agoro out as well as Ben O’Keefe, according to Longy’s interview on the Roughyeds’ excellent tv channel on YouTube.
  16. Good question. He wasn’t in the 18 last week. Worth a run at full back with Danny Craven in the halves for me, which might serve to sharpen up Logan Astley and motivate him to the next level. A nice problem for Longy to have.
  17. Hunslet taken in two loan players in time for the Oldham game: Daniel Spencer Tonks from Swinton and Mackenzie Scurr from Bradford Bulls. https://hunsletrlfc.com/general/hunslet-strengthen-squad-for-oldham-clash/
  18. Shame the referee didn't have his phone on to check Koppy's yellow card!
  19. Us and Keighley have practically the exact same average points scored per game; our points conceded is much better. I guess this won't mean much at the moment, depends who the opponents ere etc but it's a good start from us. The three matches against Keighley are surely going to be crucial. Whoever wins 2 of those (or let alone 3) will more than likely be champions, barring something dreadful happening. Crusaders and Hunslet (with possibly Hurricanes) may well nick points off us both. Got to be on the ball throughout. Don't remember being this excited about a season for a long, long time (usually my blind and desperate optimism has collapsed by game 2!). Keighley have a bye this weekend. If we beat Hunslet by 29 clear points we should be top.
  20. Agreed. Craven is a hard street fighter who knows the game inside out. This squad is a good mix of hardened pros, big men and young ones who will only learn from working alongside the experienced boys. I'd expect Moran to be a starter or replacement when fit; it's a long, long time since we had such options. The one flaw today as has been said was the execution, which will need to be much sharper against the likes of Keighley, plus Rochdale made our big men turn on their heels on the few occasions they got quick play the balls and before their speedy halves got tired, no ball or injured. Stuff to work on but by heck, pet, the bar has been raised! Well done the Board. Exciting times.
  21. Strong performance in tough conditions against a spirited if weakened Hornets. Turner was strong throughout. Warded very safe and strong. Loads to get slicker with, especially in attack execution - Logan Astley didn’t quite click. Forwards very very strong, especially after contact. Hirst came on like a train. Great result. Fantastic off field provision for the fans. This club is doing loads right! Just a word of credit for Rochdale who never gave up and gave it loads. Come on you Yeds!!!
  22. Thanks for letting us know, my friend. Hurricanes have given us some tough games recently. Dave Hewitt going well, I gather. Your club has come a long way over the last decade. Really chuffed for you. (And last time I went to Birmingham your DJ was CLASS!)
  23. Midlands Hurricanes is at Alexander Stadium. · Birmingham · 70-16 win over Newcastle on Sunday. Newcastle might be poor but Hurricanes are no mugs. Neither were they last season. Well done, Chewy! | MORE RECORDS BROKEN ON SUNDAY | Dave Hewitt's 11 conversions on Sunday saw him break the record for most goals scored by a Hurricanes player in one game!
