All depends on what the original 'terms of engagement' were...😉

Nice one Acko. As in, engaged to the daughter of a very rich ###### who's making promises?

BBC talking about this at todays challenge cup game, hopefully we're compensated by hull fc if he does leave

Yes, during the chat a great request from Ryan Brierley, " I'd love to see his qualifications " when referring to Richie possibly becoming a director of rugby.

MONEY TALKS, and it's who you know.

It wasn't an easy watch in all honesty. I said at half time that we were watching too ordinary sides that had plenty of effort and endeavor but little flair and sparkle. Even two sides who looked frightened to lose. The game cried out for a Sammut, a Chisholm, a Broughy, some off-the-cuff rugby.

Thought Oli Field was our best player. The rejig immediately after the two injuries cost us two tries and, IMO, if Jubbys on the field, their equalising try from Cresswell doesn't happen.

The drop goal was simply toss of the coin. If we had played that way in the second half, wind at our backs, we would have been celebrating a one point win. No kicker would have kicked a conversion from out wide in those conditions against the wind... Funniest thing all day was the seagull who flew between the posts twice as Liam was setting his kick up to show him where it needed to go...

By the way, thought our kicking game second half into the wind was mainly wrong options, why keep it low under the wind when, up high, the ball will drift back to your chasers and away from the opposing full back.

I too thought we might be 3-0, not 0-3 but that's the Championship for you.

And while I'm at it, you big pack proponents, Swinton beat Toulouse and their forward is smaller than ours....?? 😉😊

Once again I tuned in to your excellent commentary Andy and can clearly recall the points you made above. The word that kept shouting in my head to describe your comments was ineptitude. When the Knights have Liam and Hingano together in the halves why on earth were we lacking sparkle and a poor kicking game?  The more the game progressed it really did come across that you and the travelling Knights fans were watching two " ordinary sides". Polite as ever mate.

Can't understand why we haven't replaced Kirkmond,Clarkson and PP with established championship players instead of young kids.

Spot on for me. It's all very well signing very promising young lads for the future but ideally you don't want to be playing too many at once. For 70+ minutes today we never looked like a team and the final score, achieved against 11 exhausted opponents, flattered the Knights.

  5. The funeral of John Bell will take place at York Crematorium on Monday 26th February at 3.0.  Following this, Knights fans and all John's friends are invited to The Bootham Tavern to celebrate John's life.

  6. As those of you who participate on Facebook will have seen, John Bell sadly passed away this week.

John was a York RL supporter for 65+ years and was a regular contributer to this site. A friend to many, John's enthusiasm for the greatest game will be sorely missed.

Funeral arrangements yet to be announced.

RIP John, wherever you are, ger em onside!

David's funeral details have just been announced. They are: January 23rd at York Crematorium at 140pm then afterwards 230pm at the Marcia in Bishopthorpe.

We were very sorry to hear of your good friend's passing John. Unfortunately we are unable to attend David's funeral. Our thoughts are with you.

Come back Peter Martini, Mike Hope or Jackie Wood! They were the days! They even new their rugby!

Far better than those journos John when we had the original Evening Press. As mentioned already Martin Lacey and the very professional Peter Smith who went on to ghost write rugby league autobiographies, think he still writes for the Yorkshire Post.  As many posters have highlighted, the current York Press is a joke, the young journos are on a hiding to nothing.

  9. Best I've seen the Knights play for quite a while, after a dodgy first quarter the lads got on top of Fax and blunted many of their attacks. When Liam Harris is on song he is very creative like today, just need more of it Liam thank you very much. Well done everybody.

Can’t see you upsetting anyone with your post, it is the truth and what I would think the majority of fans have been thinking. I am sure it will turn out ok but we can’t bury our heads in the sand any longer or the fans we have got will start to leave us especially the new ones, they want to see success.

Us oldies aren't exactly over chuffed at the moment either, and, unlike Clint, we're not particularly planning for the long term.

I've just remembered what Hendo was quoted as saying in the Press before the game, something along the lines of having a plan for playing up the hill and a plan for playing down the hill. Well it didn't quite come off but it was mighty close. Hard luck Hendo! Well done! It certainly made for an entertaining watch, and of course the same goes for our lads on the pitch.

If Hendo did indeed have a good plan for playing up the hill John then I wish York RL had it donkies years ago. I can hardly remember the number of times Batley have hammered us down that slope.

I would just like to say I agree with all the positive comments about the match and the whole event put on by the Batley club today. Any Knights fan who couldn't make it missed a treat unfortunately.

Yes John, we listened to Acko on the radio and although we never made it over( a pity as over the decades Batley was always a favourite visit) it was great that our makeshift side gave it their all for the many Knights fans. I was especially pleased for the SAGA trip from the Punch Bowl, it must have been difficult for those lads to even make it to the coach. Well done.

Bored of it all to be honest. 13 games in and we haven’t had even half of our full strength side out, I t’s doing nothing for my enthusiasm to go to games. It’s been happening since 2019, haven’t had a settled halfback pairing for more than a couple of games in a row.

I appreciate injury can’t be avoided but it needs looking into why this has happened to make sure it doesn’t happen again, must be the majority of the wage bill sat in the stands, I’ve never seen anything like it. A few games fair enough but over half a season?

Know exactly where you're coming from Simon, although I've missed a few games through illness and latterly holidays I've not been overly bothered that I wasn't there. That's not good, but sure it's to do with all the chopping and changing and players missing. It would be great if the Knights graced Wembley again but overall next season can't come quick enough for me.

i hope they are all aware of the Ugandan governments recent policy regards gay people. For their own safety at the very least.

Good point Paul, for those who haven't seen the latest news re the Ugandan government's latest clampdown on homosexuality, which is now strictly against the law. It could be argued that this tour should have been cancelled but that would just bow down to the dictators and not help the Ugandan ladies RL team.

Happy Birthday Andy. Hoping your commentary brings some sunshine to a not so sunny Cyprus.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Andy, like Cyprus the weather here on the Greek island of Lesvos has been up and down. Then, at teatime here, two miracles happened: Firstly, I managed to tune in to radio York and listened to a wonderful birthday commentary from Acko and Rammo.

Second, after a lacklustre first half it was amazing to listen to the Kneets giving the Broncos the runaround. Well done everyone, the Leythers will be quaking in their 👢 👢!!

  16. Two poor teams tonight, for large parts of this game I thought Thunder looked the better side. Plenty of effort from the Knights but a considerable lack of guile, plenty of work for the coaches to do.

The previous coach had less say in contracts and their length than you might think.

Yes, let's start blaming the former coach for the club's current problems. 😒
