  1. Was fortunate enough to receive Rob Burrow's autobiography for Christmas.
  2. Barbara Walters, 93 About as iconic as it comes on this side of the pond. Interviewed many of the most powerful or well known.
  3. Growing up in Bradford his songs could have easily have been written about the place. Way too young, gutted about the news RIP Terry Hall.
  4. Joe Kittinger US Air Force Officer who held the highest freefall record for over 50 years before Felix Baumgartner took it in 2012. Kittinger was on Baumgartner's team for his attempt.
  5. I'm suprised more weren't there either to be honest. An unseasonably high -2 celsius when the game was played and who doesn't enjoy a warm Regina?
  6. I was involved with the Wolverines at the time, it certainly did take a lot of keeping going at times. A lot of people who wanted the same things and made it happen. It can be that way again.
  7. Jamaica have got the strongest domestic scene going in the Americas. Now that more heritage players are interested in playing for Jamaica, would that mean they could take more of a leadership role on this side of the Atlantic with development? Not at all sure to be honest. It all comes down to the money, Jamaica have a ton of talent, but not often the finances. The three way comp between Jamaica, Canada and the US made for some entertaining games in the few years leading up to the pandemic so would love to see that going again at Lamport. The tie in with the Caribbean Carnival in Toronto made for a cracking night!
  8. This is a great article, so good to read a feel good story for a change! I've been streaming games over here on the FITE TV app, I wonder if those figures are included or not, and it would be interesting to see those on their own too.
  9. Not being funny but some of my Indian neighbours still have the lights up from Diwali last week, maybe some of those are the 'Christmas' lights? That's not to say some folks really don't put the Christmas lights up ridiculously early though. Or leave the buggers up until summer lol
  10. My Dad, most often in utter exasperation at his children, would come out with "Strewth, I'd stand t'drop o' York."
  11. "I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be." - Douglas Adams.
  12. Ken Starr, 76, the lawyer who investigated the Clinton's dealings in the Whitewater Controversy, and ultimately uncovered the affair with Monica Lewinsky.
  13. Thankfully can get Yorkshire Gold out here quite easily, but I will admit to liking that toast and jam flavour they do. Best coffee I've ever had was in Spain when I was working in Torrejon as a teen. An espresso from a little roadside place where the locals went. Sure kept you buzzing for the day. Nothing has come close to that since and certainly not the North American, ahem, 'coffee'. I think it's safe to admit here and won't affect my citizenship that I can't stand Tim Horton's coffee. LOL
  14. Don't know how many have the WTForecast app but occasionally it comes out with a good weather description. Seemed appropriate for the UK the one from over here in Canada this weekend: 'Hotter than two rats f***ing in a wool sock behind the dryer.' Yup. About the size of it.
  15. https://www.blogto.com/sports_play/2022/07/toronto-wolfpack-drops-jersey-sponsorship/ BlogTO have a speculative piece.
  16. Driver and presenter Alain de Cadenet, 76. Did a lot of things, but I never tire of watching this famous clip of him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iOoiEbtf2w
  17. For any of the hockey fans here, it was a sad one in Canada today when Guy Lafleur, 5 time Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup winner and one of the most celebrated players, passed away aged 70.
  18. Missed it earlier that Jack Higgins, author of The Eagle Has Landed among many others, passed away on the 9th April aged 92.
  19. Could probably moonlight as a marriage guidance counselor too
  20. I'm on the cusp of finally getting my new place sorted out after separating from the ex, so looking forward to getting back into some archaeology volunteering over here, maybe a bit of model kit building. Thinking about some 3D printing projects too.
  21. Well I'd never heard of Sir Crisp Gascoyne before now and now unlikely to forget either!
  22. Ian Kennedy, 89, comic book artist on some of the comics of my youth, the Commando series, Battle, Warlord, 2000AD, Judge Dredd, Eagle...
  23. Company owner has season seats at Centre Ice at the ACC in Toronto, couple of years ago he and his mates couldn't get to a game so he offered them out and I got them. The Maple Leafs even won that night too. LOL No idea how much they cost, but there is one set of four (same as we had) available in the next block down from centre ice that is currently selling for $345,000!! Great night out and though it's not Europe for stadium atmosphere, hockey is still well up there as a game to watch live.
  24. Bob Wall, the scar faced baddie O'Hara in Enter The Dragon aged 82.
  25. I see Howard Hesseman from WKRP In Cincinnati and Head of the Class has passed away too, aged 81.
