  1. No rugby league teams went bankrupt in the 1990s before Sky money was involved?
  2. Or how Australian talent has fallen off a cliff
  3. I know in some situations teams have the option of taking the penalty as a scrum, rather than a tap. Not sure if that is just if they get a penalty from a scrum? That is how I understand some of them, but I may be wrong!
  4. If it had been HKR doing this during the play offs, then there would have been a thread very similar to this one. Fact is, it was earlier in the season involving Castleford, who were fighting relegation - No one noticed/worried about it effecting the competition, except perhaps Wakefield fans that may have been affected.
  5. I do somewhat agree with you on this, I do like the 7 tackle rule and I do think it should stay, but I think it should only be for kicks from outside perhaps the 40m line, rather than short, attacking kicks from 10m out. Whenever I think about this rule, I always remember a game back when we were Harlequins at the Stoop, Chad Randall controlled his kicking game by just booting it for 20m restarts almost every set from around the half way line, making the game stop while the attacking team got back behind the 20m and the defensive line got set up. It was almost the entirety of the second half's game plan - And it worked. But it wasn't the most exciting tactics to watch, even as a fan of the winning team.
  6. Gosh, that was a little embarrassing to read. I very much value the passion DB has for Leigh, but that reaction is pretty poor from a club owner.
  7. And IMO that might make him one of the in form wingers in Rugby League, he still isn't that close to being the world's best. He has a lot to work on, mostly around his defensive positioning, where he finds himself in the wrong position quite often. I imagine it has a lot to do with playing centre most of his career rather than wing. He has a lot of work to do to get to a point of being secure on the wing, when comparing to Makinson or some other wingers. Or even under the high ball while in defense where he often isn't in the right position to catch the ball on the full and misses when he goes up for it. I've watched almost every Newcastle match this year because I enjoy watching Young play, I think he is a very talented RL player, but that is mostly when he has the ball in hand. Positioning has some more work to do, and IMO, his work rate in defence and when trying to follow breaks, etc. He can be quite slow to react at times.
  8. Yes, you are right. It would be totally wrong to make a player serve a 1 match ban because they're due to play in a big game next. Of course your situation already assumes that the lower placed teams will then get to their semi final, even with their best player missing. Which should be a lot tougher for the lower team.
  9. If you get banned for a match then you are banned. Why should they not be punished for what they've done, just because they have a week off? Easy thing to do for those winning week 1 players - don't do something that would result in a ban, and no issues.
  10. I have no issues with Wigan using this loophole - It is something we've heard clubs doing for years and years, and honestly, should have been stopped a long time ago. I do like the idea of top 25 players being banned for first team games only, and after that then it could be a mix of reserve/first team as they are the players that generally play reserves, rather than first team unless needed.
  11. Sorry - We must have been confused when you were the first response to this thread with the answer of "Yes" I.e. "Yes - I know exactly how much they make, but no I won't be telling you" If that isn't participating in the discussion, I am not sure what is..
  12. Just to confirm - No one is asking you to post your mates P60.
  13. With everything the Keighley owners have said in the last year, I do find it quite hilarious that it was London beating them to send them down, while Lovegrove helps it all. Feel sorry for the fans, no sympathies for the owners.
  14. I can perhaps understand 1 more interchange in error, but 4? How can you count to 8 and get 12
  15. Probably based on the fact they've now had to withdraw from L1. Unless you are suggesting something different?
  16. Name the winning teams (1 point each) Huddersfield vs. Warrington Leeds vs. Castleford Leigh vs. Wigan Salford vs. Catalans St Helens vs. Hull FC Wakefield vs. HKR Which team will score the most points (1 point) HKR Which team will score the fewest points (1 point) Wakefield
  17. In regards to London, the only way I see us ever getting large crowds again on a regular basis is if we have a winning team that is challenging at the top of SL. People in London have too much choice to want to watch London play in the championship and lose more than they win (in recent years)
  18. I'm sure if Cornwall or the Hurricanes developed a player that other clubs saw potential in, they would move on if given a better deal. Should they not?
  19. I assume Skolars don't have any Broncos players then? Have never benefitted in the 30 odd years that they've both been around?
  20. I just wanted to say... I am not old enough to have ever even seen Schofield or Millward play RL.
  21. Name the winning sides (1 point each) Leigh vs. Wakefield Warrington vs. St Helens Wigan vs. Castleford Hull FC vs. Huddersfield Catalans vs. Leeds HKR vs. Salford Which game will produce the highest winning margin (you need to get the winner right as well): 1 point Leigh vs. Wakefield Which game will produce the closest score: 1 point HKR vs. Salford
  22. Hang on, I think I have finally understood your points now, Aussie way = Right Way. British way = Wrong way.
  23. Not sure why people are comparing the Football WC to ours.. You know they are actually a global game right? Even if they did/do have filler teams in their WC as well. I am not sure exactly what I missed, but what do people think we lose by having these "made up" nations in our WC? Is it simply down to "we can't pay for them, their stadiums" etc? There have been many good stories that came out of the last WC from the lesser nations, about some of their home grown players, etc. You don't need to be watching world class players every game to be entertained or drawn in by a game of RL. I think the majority of people that watch sport, watch it for the entertainment, not only because only the best players in the world are playing.
  24. Yea, why does anyone go to watch a live game?
