1 million people actively involved in sport, in a region with a 6 million population does seem disproportionately high to me.

Anyone know how Toulouse crowds have been going this year? Looked like approx 2k there today against Swinton.

I tried reaching out to Mr Drake who runs this forum, but no response. Does anyone have a contact at RL Planet perhaps?

A bit confusing... Today they have announced over 10k have been sold for Friday night, but it has not yet been declared a sellout. So, what their actual capacity is, is anyone's guess.

Dean Buchan.
All talk no action.
Pure fantasy, convinced clubs all over Europe they were part of a fully-funded European adventure.
He organised drafts in Brisbane, Birmingham and other big cities. Not one went ahead however I know somebody who registered for Birmingham and he told me:
”I’m a bit confused, what if I get drafted to the club in Moldova when there’s already one in Brum where I live and work already. You can’t tell me they’ll make me fully pro so I can train and play there.”
Nothing about it made any sense, nor had any substance behind it.

Round 1 results:
Partizan 58-18 Novi Belgrade
Red Star 30-44 Dorcol Tigers
Really great to see the duopoly of dominance (RS and Partizan) finally being challenged. Hopefully Tigers will be a genuine title contender this year.

April Fools day has begun. Not a bad one as it is kinda believable.

It will become a 'high class' magic weekend of sorts. Those that can afford to travel there will aspire to do so each season, as they rotate the teams.
Not really a breakthrough moment, to answer the question in the title. Really interesting article to read though, I must say!

2,041 today for Oldham vs Rochdale.
And yesterday at the same venue, roughly the same for Rochdale Mayfield vs Waterhead.

Ok, let's get this moving then. I see there are quite a few willing to be donors, which is great. For those two would like to help me actually set it up and help run it, please DM me and we can take it from there.

Ok, so it seems there is interest is there. Which is great to see! So I suppose the main question now is how do we get it started and under what 'banner'? TRL perhaps? Euro Rugby League could be another option? Like how a lot of Super League clubs have a foundation of their own, perhaps this could be something like an ERL foundation of sorts? I am just brainstorming, happy to hear other suggestions.

I'm in. Choosing the correct clubs/countries to invest the money in is key however.
Start up clubs is surely the target?
Not necessarily. In fact, I'd be going for clubs with a proven track record, that is then looking to expand. For example, team in country X, their men's team is going well and looking to expand and add a youth or women's team.
Start-ups can be risky. I have seen so many attempts, that have just fizzled. So orobably better to invest in some that already have some runs on the board, which is a sign of persistence. Persistence is the #1 requirement for long-term survival.
Anyway, this is very much step 2 and 3 things we are discussing now. Better if we keep gauging interest and then working towards getting it up and running.

I suppose the first thing would be to put a post on the General forum, as that generates the most traffic, and get an idea of how many people are interested.

Fingers crossed!

For those unfamiliar, the Rugby League Development Fund was an initiative started by a group of fans (via the RL Planet website) that raised funds, mostly through a membership scheme and every so often would make a donation to a developing RL nation. I think it ran for about 5 years before eventually fading away for a number of reasons.
It often gets brought up by many of us on here, how great it would be to get something like this going again. I believe a few people from here were involved: @Gomersall and @deluded pom? and probably some others.
So this is an initial post to gauge interest to see how many people would be interested in joining such a scheme if the idea were to be revived again?
One suggestions I have on how it could work: We gather a bunch of people in developing nations, and each one provides a monthly update of what is going on in their nation. This could be exclusive content for members (maybe via Patreon or one of those sites). Membership could be as little as £5 a month and then once a certain amount is accumulated (say every £1000) then a donation is made to a certain country.
Would like to hear other people's thoughts on this and maybe if someone from TRL can comment as well? If it were a TRL-endorsed initiative, it would give it a lot more credibility too.

Cornwall saying their match vs Crusaders tomorrow is a sellout.
Also saying it has been moved to a venue called Truro College and the capacity is 'severely restricted'. Not sure what to make of that. Maybe 200 is the capacity?

It wasn’t a TRL initiative previously but it came from discussions on the League Unlimited forum. I’m happy to join if there’s enough interest.
Build it and they will come! How can we go about getting it started again? Feel free to message me if you like.

Technically, you were still correct, as it says this will be the first one. Let's hope it is a success!

I personally couldn’t afford it Ian but would be willing to chip in monthly to a collective if anyone else is interested.
Yes, lets do it! What if we attempt to revive the TRL development fund? Even if the amounts collected at first are tiny, I think it is still worth a crack.
I am willing to help out, and if TRL are behind it again I am sure we can make it a success. What do you say Gomersall?

So is anyone actually willing to put there money where their mouth is ?
In my experience, very few are.
Eddie, I can vouch for, has done so on multiple occasions, and I believe now is heavily involved in running a newly established club in his area. Gomersall, it sounds like you have quite a track record too.
