  1. It is relevant, because it relates directly to your assertion that it was a genuine attempt to injure by Asiata
  2. Not my words Ste, Paul Wellens' words https://www.totalrl.com/paul-wellens-on-morgan-knowles-incident-mike-cooper-injury-and-rugby-league-as-a-collision-sport/
  3. Again, i'm going to have to defer to Paul Wellens on this one: “What I would say in this situation is no coach or player wants players to suffer injuries but injuries are part and parcel of the sport. Ours is a collision sport and things can go wrong at times." Any suggestions that Asiata's goal when making a split second tackle to try and save a try in the final minutes of a semi final was to specifically injure a player is just downright nonsensical.
  4. Ok, so based on what you've just said, which is the illegal tackle below - Paasi who is leading with his shoulder, head down in the start of a diving motion, or Welsby with arm contact primary? Also, you say 'His outstretched arms are like a swimmer going beyond Paasi. The arm contact is secondary' but that just described every legal wrapping motion tackle in the game. It's impossible to wrap your arms around an opponent without your arms going beyond them. The point i'm making here (and yes i am being facetious) is that a lot of the descriptions people are giving for why these tackles are so bad, are just describing the normal tackle technique.
  5. a standing leg is a stationary leg as per the RFL's rules. It's how a canonball tackle is defined. If we're saying you can't tackle someones leg whilst it's in contact with the ground, then you're basically saying the tackle area is restricted to a players torso. Which would make a whole bunch of tackles from the game ban worthy, including several made by Saints when chopping the legs out from under Leigh players.
  6. What's 'head down' got to do with anything? That's literally one of the most basic principles of making a tackle - to bend your back and tackle with the shoulder.
  7. It wasn't a standing knee though, both Paasi and Walmsley were running at full tilt. To quote Paul Wellens from April this year - “What I would say in this situation is no coach or player wants players to suffer injuries but injuries are part and parcel of the sport. Ours is a collision sport and things can go wrong at times."
  8. Love it, not a fan of loop fixtures though so it should be kept to strictly 2 league games followed by the Grand Final. Each month should be considered a season, with weeks 1-3 having regular fixtures and GF and week 4 being the transfer window. 7 seasons to be played per year and Wire fans to reword the song to 'it's always our month...'
  9. Not ambitious enough, it should also be 10 a side, 10 tackles per set and games lasting 10 minutes. There should also be a wildcard rule which captains can trigger where 10 balls can be in play at once for 10 seconds. My local taxi firm is lined up for league sponsorship https://1010taxis.co.uk/
  10. John Asiata has made 602 tackles just in SL this year and the vast majority have been low tackles, there haven't been any injuries caused until this weekends game to my knowledge. It's unfortunate that Paasi and Walmsley have picked up injuries but injuries happen in RL, it's a contact sport with 17 stone athletes running into each other at full tilt. As for 'leading with his head', that's just utter nonsense.
  11. You'd think no one had ever gotten injured from something that didn't result in a penalty before.....
  12. This is key, there is absolutely no reason for Briscoe's main focus to be shepherding Ritson off the ball because he had no idea where Hardaker or any other player was and the ball was heading out for a 7-tackle set.
  13. They said they thought it as it happened, which would be no different from the commentators on the game who were praising the tackle as it saved a certain try. It's incredibly unfortunate that Paasi has picked up the injury he has, but as noted in the MRP minutes, it was a result of 2 legal tackles that combined to put him in an awkward position due to the opposing forces.
  14. https://lsv.venuetoolbox.com/LeighSportsVillage/ASP/selectArea.asp?bookEvent=true&eventID={37D586AD-EDCE-4C4B-BA63-1462A7809A46}&homeArea=home Looking at the tickets left from the allocations sold through the club, there's only single seats available in the 10 blocks in the lower and middle tier. Not a great deal left in the upper tiers(through the club anyway), i'd be interested to know how many they've sold so far. Blocks 110-112 were all pretty much empty when i got mine at 7pm yesterday and there is only 5 seats left now
  15. Interestingly, the CC final is going to be 6 years to the day since Leigh and Hull KR played in the middle 8's in a game that ultimately consigned Leigh to the MPG and relegation, and gave Hull KR automatic promotion.
  16. Leicester won the league and FA Cup, if Leigh won SL and the CC I'd be quite happy to be honest.
  17. Well done Batley, really pleased for them. Hoping Lingard can sign off his tenure with a trophy, he's done a phenomenal job the past few years with one of the lower budgets in the league.
  18. Well after checking the news this morning it wasn't a dream and we are going to Wembley. Unbelievable performance and reaching a final was something I'd written off seeing in my lifetime sometime between 2018 and 2021. This is a special group of players and has to be right in the conversation of the best Leigh teams ever.
  19. I did consider heading to the wrong table for the second game but didn't want to push my luck. That being said I wouldn't even get a chance for a 3rd go, as it would prove to be the final home game before Covid struck and ended the season early.
  20. He does make me cringe from time to time with some of the comments he comes out with but the guy is as generous as they come and has time for everyone, I won a game in his box early 2020 as part of Martyn Ridyard's testimonial raffle. When we got there, the LSV staff mistakenly sent us to the AB Sundecks table in the banqueting suite rather than his box which we thought nothing of as we didn't really know what to expect. Someone finally found us about 5 mins before kick off and it tuned out Derek had got people searching all over for us and he was upset we hadn't got the full experience so insisted we came back the following week to do it all again. We didn't pay for a drink all day both times, he personally took us on a tour of the stadium including into the changing rooms and made sure we got the appropriate levels of attention from all the players and the ex pros who were also there as his guest for the games. Andy Gregory was also a guest in his box and got to spend a good hour having a drink/chat with him along with the likes of Des Drummond and others.
  21. 3k is SC on the wind up I imagine, was around 2k which is still a decent following
  22. Have they? As far as I can tell plans A-Z for Thewlis and Huddersfield is to reduce prices and hope people turn up, which doesn't work and only serves to devalue the product being sold. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/huddersfield-giants-richard-thewlis-crowds-19991185 https://www.totalrl.com/giants-looking-to-turn-the-corner/ The Q&A in the latter link has a particularly telling quote which I think just shows a complete and utter lack of creativity.
  23. They do, and any other team is irrelevant to the need for Huddersfield to grow their fan base. They need to grow the fan base because they have the 3rd lowest crowds, the cheapest season tickets and one of the more expensive squads in the division, not to mention the oldest owner at 82 years old. The maths just doesn't add up.
