  1. Just heard a song from the upcoming new Dylan album , "Rough And Rowdy Ways" on Cerys Mathews Blues prog. I know its fashionable to say he's run his course and is an old git who should gracefully retire but I don't subscribe to that at all and am hugely looking forward to hearing it all.
  2. Just binge watched all seven series of "The West Wing" again. Some great actors amongst that cast. Then, after looking for more Aaron Sorkin stuff I have started watching "The Newsroom". Looking very promising so far. This missed me whyen it first came out but must admit Jeff Daniels plays a good part.
  3. One of my all time favourite westerns has to be "Appaloosa" with Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris. Quite a satisfying ending for a change as well! Really liked the Mudcrutch track - "Scare Esay" that ran over the credits but is not listed on the soundtrack oddly! Apologies! This should have gone into the film thread!
  4. If there are any western fans (like me) out there and you have access to Netflix, I can recommend "Godless", a short series of seven episodes with Jeff Daniels as the "baddie"! Its one of TV's better efforts much along the lines of "Deadwood".
  5. Just finished watching the final episode of "Gangs Of London". What's my verdict? Not sure yet! I've watched more than my fair share of "blood & guts" films and TV including the often blood thirsty Nordic Noir stuff on BBC4. The violence and blood/gore in this however is shocking at times. I suspect my mind would have been made up more rapidly if there had been a stronger actual storyline. I felt that was a bit loose shall we say. Some good acting performances but so many of the characters had such limited involvement prior to their demise! Michelle Fairley seems to be developing a "Sean Bean" habit of being killed off! The ending clearly left scope for a second series. I shall think on it some more!
  6. Towan Head, I love this area of coast line. I've spent hours over the years watching the sea at Cape Cornwall. Nice picture!
  7. This and Tinker Tailor, Alec Guinness version, are probably the most absorbing and atmospheric cold war tales I've ever watched. I watched the Oldman remake but was not at all impressed. They really should lay off this remake addiction!
  8. Almost certainly repeats but I make no apology for this. They are simply stunning!
  9. Yet to try "Gangs Of London" but on my "to do" list. I did watch the latest version of Van Der Valk with Marc Warren. I was a tad sceptical at first as my previous sightings of Warren were as very flakey characters. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this. Just a shame there are a mere three episodes!
  10. I had a similar experience when I first heard the famous F1 theme! Took me while to track that down as well.
  11. You are quite right about Felix Pappalardi, he was the lead vocalist. The track came from the "Mountain Live - The Road Goes Ever On" in 1972. I always loved this track despite its length. The other notable snippet is that parts were used for the soundtrack of Brian Walden's current affairs program "Weekend World"! Took me ages to figure out where they got the tune from. I saw the TV prog before I picked up on the album.
  12. Used to be Whit Monday for me at my Grans. All the local churches had their own bands and each one would march through the village. This was in Gollcar and I loved it!
  13. One of my favourite ever films! Pete Postlethwaite was/is a remarkable actor. Just compare Obidiah Hakeswill with his performance as "Danny" in "Brassed Off"! Also helps that I'm rather partial to brass band tunes!!
  14. Also showing "This Sporting Life" tomorrow night at 9.15pm.
  15. Will be watching that. "Swarbs" was/is one of my all time favourite fiddle players.
  16. Just how many photos does she have to take with that fec*in camera ???
  17. I was well impressed with this and am really looking forward to the rest of the series. The level of "creepyness", tension and "make you jump" moments is so very well crafted!
  18. As will I. Although I am not entirely confident that I understood how things stood at the conclusion?? Are we to assume that Yuto got back home to his child and lady friend and that Kenzo stayed in the UK with Sarah and Taki or did he do the honourable thing and return to Japan as well?? Would be interested in your own thoughts on this??
  19. I reckon you mean Henning Wehn?? Berg was the footballer. I've seen Henning Wehn a few times and, yes, he seems to have a habit of sitting around on his own both before and after performances. Excellent comedian who I hope to see a few more times yet!
