I know, but he played on a lot of the later stuff like " Hungry For Love " , " Ecstacy ", " I Can Tell ", etc and as The Pirates - " My Babe ", " Casting My Spell ". His sound is unmistakable.
Correct
And a mentor of wilko Johnson. 'Goin' back home' is about him, and I think he helped to write it.

Great stuff, I think that's Mick Green, the master of the Telecaster.
One of my main men. He didn't play on the original version of shakin all over though.

Just watching " Eight a Days A Week " on Channel 4. If there was a better live band than " The Beatles " I never saw them.
Brilliantly edited and directed by Ron Howard. A fine piece of storytelling. I liked the way he made still photographs 'move' by using tricks like adding 'live' smoke coming from people's cigarettes.
The Beatles in terms of live performance paid their dues, and it was interesting to see how all the contributory factors that made them what they became slot into place. It's an often told story, but superbly told by Howard. Epstein sees them, Pete Best replaced by Ringo, George Martin seeing something in them, and the rest becoming history. For once I found myself not cringing when Paul McCartney was talking. They were a far better rocking band than they were given credit for.

I think that's a cracking version.
IMO the best version ever committed to disk is the Pirates' live recording on "Out Of Their Skulls".
I loved that album

The Motorhead/Girlschool version was better.
You mean you prefer it.
I prefer the Johnny Kidd version, and the Pirates own version on the 'out of our soul's album.
We all have different preferences.

The two great British rock and roll records - " Move It " by Cliff and " Shakin' All Over " by Johnny Kidd.
absolutely
these two records were the cornerstones of British rock music. i'd put in 'Please Don't Touch' by Johnny Kidd as well

Oh yes it is!
Sandy Denny wrote it, and sang it when she was in the strawbs. It appeared on Fairport Conventions Unhalfbricking album when she joined them

Three favourite versions by the same artist!
wonderful, although the last one isn't a cover

maybe not the best, but certainly the creepiest version of this blues classic. I came across it whilst learning it.
It starts of ok, but then you see this ominous writing in the top left corner. Then kaboom! Does she know what she's doing?

Maybe the people would be the times.... or between Clark and Hilldale....nobody covered that!!
I have some outrageously good memories of tenements in Glasgow with that album playing. It was a long time ago. The Maryhill gang are all 9 years older than me..... our lives have changed a lot but we'rall still here and all of us have that album.
Did you ever go to Carr's Kegg? I was the singer with the house band.

One of mine as well. It was a victim of the old flat mate nicking your stuff trick in '71. Hugh Figges must still be looking over his shoulder.

Fabulous original....Fabulous cover
What happened to punk changing everything?
It's a bloody hippy song.
You'll be telling me they did a Paul and Barry Ryan number next.

a cover version with the original artist joining in

Anyone got any good, simple, alternative recipes for sprouts?
Boil em. Works every time for me. No need for any poncey forgiving about. Sprouted sprouts, bloody lovely.

Bubble and squeak for tea. And that wraps it all up. Hardly a crumb of the whole bunfight wasted.

Look on line for foods that are known triggers. I love shelfish so much I have been in denial that it could be my trigger. Sadly, I fear the worst.
Definitely gout.
I've to drink lots of water and take these tablets, plus a blood test to confirm it.

I take arcoxia (etoricoxib) 90mg when it flares up. Like all drugs there are contraindications so I also have to take a PPI ( Omeprazole).
But I find if I take my Arcoxia for 3 or 4 days I'm clear for 6 months or so. I have had it for over 40 years so can tell when its about to start and can usually nip it in the bud.
After 40 years my latest theory is that for me the trigger is seafood. I'm currently avoiding all shellfish. I really hope that its not the trigger as I love all types of seafood.
Get your Doc to do a blood test. The red shinyness presenting is typical of gout.
Allipurinol (Zyloprim) seems to work for a lot of people, there really is no need to suffer that dull ache with occasional flashes of excruciating pain.
I really do appreciate that. I've already clipped my toenails in preparation for my trip to see the wonderful Dr Annette Bearpark.

Are you sure its not gout? A simple blood test will tell. There are some excellent remedies if it turns out to be gout.
My gout flares up every now and again, sometimes the joint looks red but not always.
That's the general consensus in the household.
I thought I'd stubbed it, but perhaps that just made me aware of it.
The pain is around the joint, but the whole toe is red and shiny and twice as big as normal.
Thanks for the info mate. What are the remedies?

We had to make emergency arrangements to accommodate 3 more at only a couple of hours notice....
Crisis, what Crisis? All sorted.
I don't care if it sounds like I'm blowing my own flugelhorn.... but I nailed it..... but as always when I cook, I ate very little......
Then at 4.30 I slumped with a 1996 bottle of clynelish......
I thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Today chips n turkey n pickles?
I love it when that happens. It adds to the vibe. We had an extra one plus a take away: my lad's partner's dad who can't get out.
I was knackered and pleasingly sober at the end of it. Our Angus slept through the entire session.
I dread the day when I haven't got it in me to do it.
By the way is there any pie left? You inspired me.

Well Christmas dinner went down a treat. Belting food even if I say so myself. Wonderful company. Lots of laughs.
