It was a period which Trinity had little ball. There were a few errors, discipline issues which led to repeat Leeds sets and gifting possession. Added to the shift of Smoothy out wide and effectively losing 2 pivots in thier natural positions it really upset the spine. These being factors allowing Leeds back into the game. Myers failing to take a high ball. Roarke failing to take a high ball. Mckmeeken throwing a stray pass after running laterally. Smoothy throwing an intercept pass on Leeds line. Tevaga giving a penalty away on 4th on halfway. Scott going for glory on second tackle in corner when Leeds line had sprinted back 100 metres. It’s unlike trinity to be so loose this season with the ball. Some will be down to Leeds who were good but some also down to the movement and loss of spine players, change in defensive shape and also the short turnaround from a hot game in France. As Powell says on another day we can beat Leeds and no need to fear them if we meet them again as there’s plenty of opportunity to improve on that from a trinity perspective both individually and collectively. Add to the above losing a pivot to HIA it just allowed Leeds back into it. Not that Leeds weren’t good but Trinity should have seen that out. Another day it could easily go the other way so I’m not too disheartened. Some of the above errors leading to almost all Leeds points. Had Trinity have been in more attacking positions or had more ball in hand I’d have agreed but highlighting Trueman at that time under those circumstances seems strange to me.

Trinity will feel they also did enough to win that in spells too and they probably did but for a few moments. There are two perspectives and the game ultimately was on a shoe string that last 15. Thought the interview was class, outlined key parts of the game and areas where trinity handed key ball to Leeds which they capitalised on. Areas that can be fixed up and learnt from.

Trinity had pretty much a short turnaround from the Catalans game. Finished close to midnight on Saturday and plane early Sunday meant losing a fair bit of prep. I actually think the drop off (Trinity usually finish strong) was down to that somewhat. Even though Leeds enjoyed some decent territory that second half for a couple of spells I thought Uele and Faatilli were still making good inroads and dangerous all game. I feel a few things otherwise impacted Trinity. losing Sinfield to HIA and moving Smoothy to 7 stopped Trinity momentum and then further when Pitts went off injured that last quarter it really hurt that middle unit as he’s a top defender. These were key moments. Leeds scored from a Hall error, a Tenvaga penalty and I think another error so a fair chunk of that field position leading to try’s was self inflicted by Trinity. Overall though 2 very evenly matched teams who both had good halves and a quality game of 2 halves that was.

Brace yourselves: a forum upgrade is imminent!

I’ve seen another popular forum ruined and now a graveyard after a poorly implemented upgrade. Im sure this will be better though and im hopeful. You can only put these things off so long. -
It makes sense. You just don’t like it or agree Rob. like it or not though, that was the loose play that pretty much took the game away from Leigh. The game was screaming for a Lam or O’Brien to take charge when there were some ocassions of good ball for Leigh but I thought they didn’t really impose themselves enough when needed. Think it was an opportunity missed for Leigh tonight.

Pleasing for Trueman is Connor seems to have a dip in form the odd game and defence seems to get caught out. Think Trueman has put him self in like for England shirt firmly now. Watching Ashton today and a few games. He looks laboured and not fit so seeing Johnstone tearing it up It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a handful of trinity players playing in the World Cup. Makes a change from the odd 1/2.
