The all new 2025 Kit Thread!
Trojan Horse replied to Gav Wilson's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Totally agree and it was one of my favourite shirts ever. I still have it in large in my wardrobe. Not that I can fit into it now As you say though it looked fabulous in person and on the players. I pray for a shirt similar in coming seasons or if Mr Ellis is reading my post then a special magic shirt please. -

It does look very smart though does the away shirt having seen it a few times. It just about edges the home one which was also a top shirt. -

Well I did say it was what I personally wanted. We’ve had a couple of cracking red kits in the past. And we’ve done quite well in them if memory serves. They don’t come along too often and I’m not saying I want one every season. But they are a nice change up every so often and I think we are due another red one around now. The 2017 one was a cracker - I think we ended in playoffs too that year. The horizontal striped one from years ago was also different and one of my favourites! -

I have been crossing my fingers for Trinity to bring out a predominantly red kit for years. We haven’t had one in a while and they always look smart imo. -

I am very much looking forward to seeing the plans for the shop/cafe. I did half expect it would be used as a gym for player performance. -

It’s a very crisp smart shirt. Seems to be going down very well. -
Salford financial issues(again…)

So when the RFL has Salford in special measures from NOV 2023 into the 2024 season and Salford continued to sign players it must as per your statement been granted permission by the RFL. Looks like last years special measures failed to properly consider the likely outcome and hedged its bets to contribute to Salfords current predicament. Do the RFL hold some accountability for the predicament Salford have found themselves in for allowing it? Very sad state of affairs. A little embarrassing on the surface and potentially more of a mess than in the public domain. -

Well it looks on the face of it that the RFL will. Probably at cost to the sport. With what could be a relatively permanent roll for a few months you could be looking at quite a hefty bill/resources. With all the discontent on IMG costs I can’t imagine this would be popular if it is funded by the RFL. It does seem like a vote of no confidence from the RFL to Salford. Having to micromanage a club who should be self managing and have their own competent accountant/financial advisor you’d expect. You mention a ban on registering players. But didn’t the RFL allow Salford in special measures to register and sign more players after November 2023? Perhaps we have to hope that the special measures are more effective this time round. -

I mean, while I completely get this it’s also offering a helping hand to Salford and basically offering free financial consultation and advice to enable them to do what they should be doing. Not sure that teams like Halifax and other teams like Whitehaven get the same offer of support, either enforced or not. On one hand it appears a monitor but on the other it’s free financial review and advice. I would have thought that the club would have to pay for their own financial advice like other clubs and that is what should be reviewed. It seems like this is a repeat of 12 months ago November 2023 when the RFL put Salford in ‘special measures’ for which they afterwards continued to sign players….. let’s hope what seemed like a failed special measures recently isn’t repeated by the RFL or Salford. Regardless, I don’t want to be critical too much despite the above. This is good news for the Salford club and fans. Hopefully it’s a valuable lesson for the Salford club which will help them better understand their finances and failures that have led them to this point. -

I wouldn’t waste the oxygen on such a lacking comment like that. -
IMG Grading System (Many Merged Threads)

That’s the way I see it. It probably highlights that Jepson isn’t a rich owner who’s able to bank roll improvements under his own steam. Much like Trinity previous owners I guess. Perhaps one who can bring stability but with limitations unless there’s outside investment. nothing wrong with that of course. Perhaps he can do what Mynards did for Trinity and get the ball rolling on a significant upgrade/new stand. Cas will be fine for a couple years. It’s Salford and Hudds who are the ones at risk imo. -

So, I’ve gone through the drawings. The existing roof pictured will be fully classed to the rear. A new roof will be added from existing roof and will run across the west stand and stop at the metal gates (where the brick wall ends maybe around 30 metre line). This will also be fully cladded and the current modular boxes removed. A staircase will be added to the rear which will lead to a media/tv gantry above the roof (a second floor). This will have a fairly sizeable room! Added to that refreshment cabin located in the stand. This stand is mainly away fans and I think 2/3 of it being put under cover it will be a solid improvement and likely all that is required in the short to medium term. With the lower north terracing being replaced for new and maybe upcoming South works the old girl is certainly getting a facelift. Looking at the space the modular boxes take up we could see the capacity increase by a couple of hundred more too. -

Underselling that a bit, cladding, refreshments kiosk, tv/media gantry, roofing and a big screen area. Absolutely cracking work from the owner. this may be for start in the next off season though I suspect. -

Just a thought… in November 2023 weren’t Salford placed into financial special measures by the RFL who has to sign off recruitment for the Salford club? I don’t actually ever recall an announcement they were out of special measures. Does this mean that this is in part the fault of the RFL? It doesn’t give me much confidence now the RFL are back involved. Though I do think it’s the correct course. So long as they are strictly monitored and managed appropriately (something other clubs may not have had the benefit of when facing financial shortfall recently like Fax etc). Must be a relief for Salford fans. Good for them.
