I would have likes 14 team SL and the same in the Championship but that would leave League 1 in a perilous state.Championship did need the extra two home games for increased revenue towards the players budget. But now with no promotion to SL likely apart from Wakey.Bradford and Toulouse attracting better players is not required.Finish top and win 1895 cup. Get through to the later rounds of The Challenge Cup and teams apart from the three mentioned have no chance of promotion it may stop teams chasing the SL dream by throwing money at it.And just help League 1 survive with the prospect of promotion.

I think you can add Oldham to the three teams you mentioned with a realistic chance of promotion to the SL

I think so yeah. Fax probably should have beaten them and I think York playing at home should have too much for them. Oldham are a good side without a doubt and will run away with League 1 but in my opinion they wouldnt be in the mix for the playoffs in the Championship as things stand.

Oldham will recruit the players they need to win the championship next season.

  3. I'm working at home today, the wife had to go in to work but she doesn't like driving in snowy conditions so I'm her taxi for the day. Took me 40 minutes to do the normally 15 minute drive to her work this morning then 30 coming back. I don't mind though, better her safe than sorry.

I was shocked at how many people thought it was appropriate to drive with small holes in the ice on their windscreens or fully misted-up cars with a hastily wiped small viewing hole, then going on major dual carriageway trunk roads and driving at 70mph+ while being 90% blind of their surroundings. At one major roundabout, I approached it slowing down carefully down the hill and got round safely, in the outside lane though was an idiot who sped past me to the roundabout then discovered his car had no chance of slowing down in time, thankfully the driver of the approaching car on the roundabout saw him and slowed down in time to allow the idiot to slide onto the roundabout. I wish the police had been out in force today as more than a few drivers were being criminally irresponsible

If people have no clue how to drive in snow and ice then they should either stay home or go learn.

It's the same around here. It's frightening how many people still seem to think they can drive at approaching their normal speed in these poor conditions.

I wonder if it's just suburban drivers- when we lived in Cumbria, I found people were much better drivers in poor winter conditions than they are here in Oldham.

It usually takes me around 15mins to travel the four miles or so to Oldham town centre from Shaw, I'm expecting it to take me at least double that this afternoon and will plan accordingly. If other drivers took the time to do so I bet the accidents would be greatly reduced.

  4. It's good to see everyone remembering the great player he was, as pointed out by many he was always up for games against the Aussies and they respected him for it. Sad the way things have ended, but Terry appears to have been a troubled soul during the last few months and this must be an awful time for his family.

    RIP Terry

  5. In the Carnegie stand trying to console a distraught youngest son.Leeds gave away two soft tries and that killed it. Awesome defence by Wigan, well done.

Given Leeds start to the season,a challenge cup final and a play-off semi final isn't too bad.

Better team won on the night.

Lets hope the usual suspects show some class, although I doubt it.

Leeds needed a play-maker, the fact that they didn't have one meant there was no way back after they conceded those two quick tries after the break. Sad fact is, they had enough ball in the second half to win two games but were absolutely devoid of any idea.

I think Wigan deserve to be in the final after the season they have had but can't see them having enough to beat Saints next week.

  6. Andouillette - a French tripe sausage - is well worth trying.

I tried this in Argeles-sur-mer a few years back!

I cannot for the life of me remember what possessed me to order it, but never again! It arrived looking somewhat like a large grey version of a black pudding, sliced open so that the contents were spilling out onto the plate like someone had disembowelled a small animal. Mercifully, I had ordered it with a covering of mustard sauce which made it barely palatable, and i managed to eat about half before I came across a piece of what I think was pork, but it still had coarse hair attached, I conceded defeat at this point!

My wife later took great pleasure in reading aloud to me a graphic description of what i had consumed, from a guidebook - truly horrific :O:ohmy:
