  1. I may get back to Corby this Saturday. Not too busy and a varied course. A lot is on grass so one to avoid if wet and muddy. My percent ranking is personal challenge as PB several years old. I have been mostly cycling this summer 400km Strava monthly challenge. Plus a lovely tour de Lincolnshire.
  2. I can't see it displayed on Our League. Wales v Lebanon available to purchase.
  3. Irchester today. A bit of an out and back struggle for me. Undulating and repeat inclines is not my best terrain. Sunny and friendly. Very near the newly built HMP Five Wells which looks functional as you would expect.
  4. Sixfields Upton as a tourist today. Car parking just near the Cobblers stadium. Lovely park with plenty of waterside. Upton is an exemplar urban development. This week and last I have my highest age %. 40s off PB (2017) but improving.
  5. Good luck. Frustrating and difficult to decide how much rest.
  6. I've read them all about 4 times in my 50 years. I still have about half the set. Maybe i'll give them another go soon. Royal Flash, Charge and Great Game were favourites. I am a little biased as home was once Ashby de la Zouch where it all began.
  7. The Ascent of Rum Doodle. This book made be laugh aloud. Short. A bit dated. Runs out of steam a little but really glad I read it. The author seems interesting for his apparent ordinariness (an accountant at Kendal Urban Council or similar). Apparently a cult following sufficient for Rum Doodle to be named as a part of Antarctica!
  8. Shocker for Leicester City losing to F*****. Don't seem to have a decent defence.
  9. Several local parkruns iced off this weekend. Brixworth - a gem of a setting- was open with an alternative course omitting its steep finish. I was pleased to get round with my leg still dodgy. My son got a sub 19pb finishing first . A nice confidence boost.
  10. I've been junior parkrun volunteering most Sundays. Even allowing for the odd child that gets randomly distracted (by a stick or similar 'toy'!) its normally all done by 9.45am. Very uplifting to help as with parkrun. As is the way the 4th anniversary last month was fancy dress. My red / white Where's Wally hat effort was ok but didn't match the other 4 Wally's - or 2 dinosaurs and one excellent minion.
  11. Great memories for me and i didn't know his Chelsea playing career was so good. The Sky Blues team bus (or part of it?) on display in the Coventry Transport Museum was a great reminder of a brilliant led team.
  12. Northampton racecourse yesterday. Last ran 2 years ago and got a 1s PB! Junior parkrun volunteer today which was pleasant in the sunshine. I hope to have solved my niggling injury having realised i was running in the wrong shoes (support - I need cushioned). I must have got them 'cheap' online. Classic false economy as my replacements cost me ninety.
  13. Takes me back 30 years to a nice summer spent in Vaasa and fond memories of Suomi. I twisted my knee at Rutland Water parkrun this week. I will probably rest and volunteer the next 4 weeks now.
  14. Missed having no F! this week. Ordinarily i am ambivalent but find this year the competition is compelling and nip/tuck. Hope its on next week and i guess 5 or 6 races left?
  15. Myrtle parkrun today. Tough. 4 laps and 4 ascents from the bank of the River Aire to the level of Bingley High Street.
  16. 67:17 as tail walker last Saturday. The visually impaired runner (with guide) in front of me was delighted with a 30s pb. Excellent. Rested my poorly leg. Hope to be in Yorkshire this weekend to complete a tourisim park run.
  17. I was a tourist at Kettering. Great to parkrun around the amusements of Wicksteed Park, criss cross its narrow guage railway and over a lake by (wobbly) pontoon bridge. It's a real pleasure to run any parkrun, they're all unique and friendly. I'll volunteer next week as suffering form a sore achilles. I've ordered some of that tape seen on other runners and am told its quite useful.
  18. I was timekeeper yesterday. My first stint at that. All good. Worked well with the other timekeeper and we counted the same 285 runners. it got a bit hectic as bunches arrived around 25 mins. We both intentionally missed the runner (first timer it turned out) who did 2 instead of 3 laps. The funnel manager gave them a token and they got a time at 79% age grade. That later got retracted from the results, they must have realised the missing lap and challenge of repeating that standard!
  19. I like the occasional new parkrun and looked at Normanby course map. It does look a squiggly route! Great PB. I was lucky to be in Skipton this week but couldn't make PR which looked nice. My PB dates to 2017 but i am recently getting near my best age grade at 60% on a hilly course at Rugby. My regular course this weekend which is flat so maybe break 60%.
  20. i somehow managed to reverse token order when handing out in 2019 It haunts me still! Nevertheless it is great to volunteer.
  21. Great to do parkrun last Saturday. Brilliant turnouts and positive media
  22. A star on the pitch. Some urban legend sories about his off pitch activity in the Leicester student area . I am sure his biography is titled One hump or two....
  23. Danny McAlinden. Before my time but this is a proper heavyweight contest.
