A defender isn't carrying the ball and therefore needs a bent arm raised around chest height...

If an attacker tackled a defender we would give a penalty, but yet a defender is allowed to tackle an attacker. Really makes you think.

Shoulder charge by a defender is illegal as it is deemed dangerous. Somehow, shoulder charges from attackers aren't dangerous?

With the Ma'u try, this is how it would have gone in different scenarios we have or have had.

    No video referee = try

    On field call = try

Benefit of doubt to attack = try

Ultimately, a decision has to be made and I don't think anyone can say with any certainty whether the ball was grounded or not. So it's a difficult situation to resolve.

Personally, I'm happy to accept that referees make calls and get on with the game. We have had various ridiculous and convoluted systems because many stakeholders in the game cannot.

I disagree. Without the on field call  and having seen the ball held up with no evidence it was grounded, I think it would've been no try.

As things currently stand, there is no point in going to VR for decisions where the ball is at the bottom of a pile like that, because there will never been enough evidence to overturn. Just make the decision and save us all some time.

    A few questions

    • Was Faraimo in control when he made the attempt at a tackle?
    • Did he try to adjust when the KR player started to drop to the ground?
    • Did he have time to adjust?
    • Could the contact to the head have been avoided?

No, he didn't have time to adjust, and contact to the head could've been avoided had the KR player not ducked into it.

  4. I love Park Run. I've been doing it at Thornes Park in Wakefield for about 18 months - this past weekend was my 56th (in addition to a handful of volunteering weeks) and I hate that it is not on this weekend coming!

I'm not the fastest - until relatively recently I was the slowest. Started by walking round in just over 52 minutes. Set my PB a few weeks ago by doing a jog-walk-stagger combination at 39:11. You should have seen the celebrations when it was clear I'd got below 40 minutes! And not just from me either.

Park Run is one of the most positive things in society right now. Don't know what I'd do without it.
