  1. Absolutely I'm praying we get out of the Championship. As much as victories are fun, there really isn't a lot of enjoyment watching such lobsided results. TWP are to be commended for assembling such a skilled squad, but I think it's SL or bust this year. I even expect their future viability as a club is on the line pending this result.

Fantastic year and post season. I've followed them since the beginning and had a season seat package back in year 1 at the Skydome. Naturally, I hope Kawhi comes back. But I think if he was planning on saying he would have said so by now. We'll see. Fingers still crossed.
  3. I was transferred from Canada to Sydney, Aus for a couple years back in 1990. I'd never seen Rugby League before that. It was not played nor televised here in Canada. I played a bit of RU in high school. Just a bit. In Australia, they had a game of the week on TV that I became hooked on, and then started attending some North Sydney Bears matches in person. They were the closest team to where we lived.| I also went to some Sydney University RU matches as well. I generally found RL more entertaining than RU, but back then Australia had massively strong RU national team. I saw them play a couple times live as well as NSW Waratahs. After I came back to Canada, I lost track of RL again until I started getting Sportsnet World / Sentanta about 5 years ago. And then a few years ago, the moment I heard about the Toronto Wolfpack, I picked season tickets.
  4. Even as a fellow Canadian, I have to admit.. that's a weird story.
  5. I did not know that. I just listened to this video, and ya, it's pretty close. Kind of amazing.
  6. It's now starting to be pretty clear as to why the NY bids backers weren't revealed. Sounds like a pretty sketchy setup based on what we see about the Butlins. You'd think in a place like NY with more then 20 million people in the area, RL could do quite a bit better than guys like this.
  7. I wouldn't have known what a floating roof was. Thanks. One thing people must remember is a roof over here has to be able to support the weight of a *&^%load of snow. Because of that they tend to be pretty major undertakings. I guess if they built it on a steep enough angle, that would help.
  8. The kid's ok, but good lord, who ever is behind the camera should at least learn how to focus it.
  9. The City of Toronto on their website says Lamport stadium seating capacity is 9600. https://www.toronto.ca/data/parks/prd/facilities/complex/314/index.html That would not include people standing in the beer garden on the north or the VIP area in the south although I don't know if more than 9600 are permitted to enter, based on capacity and fire regulations. The website has not been updated since Toronto Wolfpack started using the field, as it does not mention rugby or rugby league as a stadium purpose. Hence the 9600 capacity was established before the Wolfpack were even around. These conspiracy theory nutjobs that claim it doesn't hold 9600 should take up their argument with the city. I'm sure they'd love to hear from you.
  10. Pretty amazing how much change in this city in a few short years. There are now about 3000 condo units where all that dirt is on the north.
  11. The current ones are set up to multiply x 2. Now we'll have to reprogram them and change it to 3.
  12. I believe it does, in the washrooms. The washrooms in general could use an upgrade though.
  13. Dang, I realized after the fact, I should have put this in the Toronto Wolfpack forum, not the general one. This should get interesting.
  14. OK folks, it sounds like the city of Toronto is about to replace the old scoreboard at Lamport Stadium. That's great news, as it's been really tough to tell how much time is left in a match with the number of blown bulbs. The match day experience that the Wolfpack team put on at Lamport is great, but I thought I'd start a thread to share ideas on how Lamport could be improved a bit. I don't have a laundry list, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling. Beyond the scoreboard, the next thing I'd work on is the sound system. We were sitting in the 3rd row, at the dead center of the field on the west side and before, throughout, or even at halftime of the match we could not make out ONE THING said by the announcers or half time hosts. The people around me mentioned it as well. It might not be a hard fix. It appears the speakers aren't angled up towards the stands, just straight ahead into the concrete side walls. Angle them properly and crank of the volume a bit might take care of it. Feel free to add any other ideas.
  15. Ah ######. Look's like I'll be standing on the Go Train roof, yet again.
  16. I know Argyle has said they plan to stay at Lamport, and hopefully partner on improvements along with the city. However, I could see a one off at BMO sometime, as a bit of a trial run. However seeing the earlier post saying it would cost $250k I have my doubts. Think of it. Even if we hosted the Million Pound Game here.. and it sold out at 25K attendance, $10 from each ticket would have to go to pay for the stadium. That's steep. (BTW, I think I saw somewhere that the MPG must be in the UK going forward. Is that correct?"
  17. As a young man, I worked at Carling's Brewery, in Waterloo Ontario, while going to university. They gave a free case (24) of beer and a carton (10 or 12 packages) of Rothman's cigarette's to each employee on every holiday weekend,. LOL. Funny to think about that now.
  18. Yet they get their largest attendance of the season when they play the Wolfpack for some reason.
  19. Yep, once the match was well underway, only the extreme corners of the stands were vacant, and there were may more than that in the beer garden. It was a sellout today. They were pretty much at the allowed capacity. They aren't allowed to exceed it regardless if 1500 or more are standing in the beer garden or in the VIP end. The doubters are full of **it.
  20. I watched Featherstone / Toronto and though from fairly early on Bussey was acting like a clown. A little extra after a lot of tackles, then waving his hands like a traffic cop to get the refs attention all the time. I figured he'd eventually get tossed. I thought he was playing with a lot of anger, and acting like a buffoon all game long. I'm certainly happy the Wolfpack sent him packing last year.
  21. Oh ya, I see they say Ottawa is the capital of Ontario, the 'state's" biggest city, Toronto. You're right, 2 errors. Can we relax now?
  22. Not a bad article. The only ignorance of Canada from the Aussie I saw was that he said state instead of province. From the other side of the planet, that's really not a big deal IMO. You could cross the bridge at Niagara Falls, into New York State and you'd probably find 30% - 40% of the people wouldn't know what a province was or which province Toronto was in.
