  1. Of course Stu will be here next year Paul, and hopefully for many more seasons. He is like old wine is the lad. Maturing every season, but lets face it, he is the veteran of the team and will, at some stage, be a first class addition to the backroom staff. Last two seasons, has played some of his best rugby. Credit to the game.
  2. What can one say at a time like this?. Horrific news. Condolences to everyone who has been affected by this tragedy
  3. Fully agree, Birchy. Although Morrison has done some sterling work,I still think that he is a bit lightweight. There is also the question of will good old Stu be donning the shirt next year?. A couple of brick **** houses will not come amiss, ie; Catalans style.
  4. Judging by his performances over the past weeks, it is obvious that Zac is playing for the shirt and the club. Cannot say the same for Coady. Appears dis-interested and at times, out of his depth.
  5. You never know your luck Mick. We already have a mountain.
  6. Didnt see you Vic and most importantly, did not hear you!!!!. Took along my son and wife (Wakey supporters). A good mixture of outside support, Hull, Hudd"s, Dewsbury and Wakey. A step too far for the Bulldogs I am afraid. Handforth tried his best to keep them going but they were overwhelmed by power and pace.
  7. I fully agree upon the point of stadium capacity. IMO 9000 tops is adequate. When the franchcise is applied and IF C*s and Wakey are demoted due to ground problems, will Leigh and Widnes replace them solely upon stadium conditions?. To stir the pot even further, what if the above happens and say Wakey gain promotion back into the SL with no new ground in sight ,coupled with one of the Lancs clubs being relegated. Another fine mess. Reminds me of the Desert Road Band"s hit. "One step forward and two steps back" or maybe I am just a cynical owd b****r.
  8. I am of the opinion that the majority of refs, especially in front of the cameras, are neglecting to punish dangerous play and needless violence. Incidents which IMO warrant yellows are ignored, not even being put on report. Yellows are very few and far between and reds are almost unheard of. Is this a behind the scenes policy of "letting the game flow" or is it to prevent the "general" public being shielded from the "brutal" game of rugby league ?. Heaven forbid, but I am awaiting the day when a player is going to suffer a serious injury due to inept referee control as witnessed at the home game with Toulouse.
  9. Sheer coincidence, having spotted this topic, but having just returned from Cyprus, it was a holiday I nearly didnt make. Going through security at Manchester, security spotted my FEV shirt and immediately started to slag me off. Told me he was a Wigan fan and that we had no chance of achieving anything, least of all promotion. The mist descended and I created a right scene. Passengers stood back, radios crackling and the Wigan w*****r rocked back on his heels. Finally persuaded to calm down, by his supervisor, although I enjoyed it whilst it lasted, helped by the thought of the sunshine and brandy and cokes. Please dont tell me to put an official complaint in. He was not worth it and I would not lower myself to the toupee standards.
  10. Or a little bit too hard.
  11. Thats the reason for my complaint Vic. I dropped my lighter.
  12. Have heard that Afghanistan are sending a commitee over to monitor our election. A return favour they say.
  13. When are we going to get illumination behind the family stand?. Total darkness in that area when the evening matches finish. In the case of an evacuation, for whatever reason, it would be complete chaos.
  14. Yes, we were off our game tonight. Yes, we lacked flair and ideas and cannot blame the ref for that. Having said that, I have never witnessed a ref doing his utmost to keep a team in the game as he did tonight. Even the Sky team commented on his decisions as being harsh and puzzling. The Morrison off load should have been classed a penalty, resulting in a kick to touch, not a scrum. What was he thinking of?. Toulouse spent more time offside at play the ball and were allowed to retire behind the scrum a metre or so inside the regulatory five metres. Forward passes were the norm, at least one try resulting. I do not mind poor decisions, providing that they are poor decisions for both sides.Tolouse are a good strong running team, but they were certainly aided and abetted tonight.
  15. IMO there is little to choose between the top four in the Championship and the bottom few in SL. Apart from the Wildcats game in bonny Scotland, the overall rugby up to now has been utter ###### taking into account they are "the elitist". Give me the Championship any day.
  16. Where the B****y H**l is Dalton?.
  17. The system was most likely brought in in order to assist the SL clubs with their finances, ie; wages bill.
  18. Regarding your last statement, what about the old saying, "if they are good enough they are old enough". I thought that bringing young players through was the whole objective?.
  19. I do not see any team beating us on present form,Robin. I have consulted the witches coven up on Woolley Edge who have recommended that if we do have a blip, that I flit to Stump Cross.
  20. Lookout Rob. Thas going to get thi hours reduced if thats all were gerring.
  21. Oh ye of little faith. We have the best team in the league at the moment and I cannot see ANY side, on our present form, beating us.
  22. Even considering the opposition, some of our game play was a joy to watch. The two tries which the Cougers scored came from some very good play and I cannot take that away from them. The game also emphasized the lethal goal kicking of Briggs.
  23. Perfect advert for Murdochs SL. Dull, scrappy, inept and boring performances from two very poor teams. The lower half of the SL is no better than the top four in our division IMO.
  24. What really pleases me this year, apart from the outstanding performances, is the physical presence of our lads, something which we have really lacked over the past few seasons. We have really bulked up in all departments and are no longer being out-muscled by our opponents. All down to preparation behind the scenes. Well done the coaching staff.
  25. At the risk of bringing the wrath of the rugby world down upon my head, I think that we have been and still are, influenced by the game down under. The England team manager visiting Oz in order to learn where our game is going wrong. Suggestions that we have two refs, following them regarding play round the ruck ect to be finally rounded off by the influx of Aussie players. We have no chance of acheiving honours whilst we are accepting the easy fix of imports instead of nurturing our players. Our basic sports system does not help the cause. Down under they commence rugby classes and gradings as young as six years old, unlike our system where teams appear to be made up of cousins, son in laws and other family connections, plus antipodeans. It is not only our game that is affected this way, as the majority of main sports are ruled by the adage "not what you know, but who". Sport in general,IMO, requires a complete rethink starting at basics right through to the top.
