  1. Couple quick observations: 1. Regional academies should be run by the RFL 2. Broncos will pick up IMG points for increased crowds, viewing numbers and revenue from their 2024 season. Probably not enough to stay up. 3. Most supported P&L with minimum standards ie. junior pathways, decent stadium, etc. Few thought the IMG gradings would be what they are: a way to nail in the existing SL clubs. 4. 2024 marks another missed opportunity in the narrative of RL.
  2. Looking at ticket map I’d be saying 14k for St Helens match.
  3. I’ve had another look through the scoring and I have Toulouse ahead of Wakey, Cas and Salford.
  4. London need additions. But they won’t lose the likes of Parata just because he needs to be a FT player. He has a successful project management company. The broncos have said they’ll accommodate players as best they can. Living in London, it would be no surprise for some of their squad to earn far more from non-SL income.
  5. They just released a statement detailing their financial strength and that a younger owner with deeper pockets is to take over
  6. If it’s the same 11 plus wakey I’ll book you a flight to aus to get drunk with me
  7. financially? Toulouse have deeper pockets than wakey and cas. They will score higher for non-central finance.
  8. Yeah but performance category alone is only 0.1111 lower for Toulouse.
  9. Are you sure Toulouse will rank lower than cas, wakey?
  10. Best David Hughes starts bussing in film extras to watch them play.
  11. Thing is, there’s only 25 points up for grabs. For B grade clubs, it’s likely gonna come down to tenths of a decimal.
  12. Guys, I have terrible confirmation bias. I desperately want to believe that IMG and RFL weren’t stupid enough to admit a team in ‘24, give them millions and then punt them.
  13. Yeah but your catchment Is reduced for every pro team within a radius. Cas, wakey, fev will suffer there.
  14. Owner investment, catchment, academy, Stadium, etc. will probably score higher than some current SL clubs. Digital, no idea. Solvency, no idea. Performance in 2024 will have quite an impact.
  15. Based on what is known, I don’t have London very far behind Castleford. A lot will actually depend on League standings at end of season.
  16. Has anyone had a go at prelim point scoring? Perhaps based on a handful of public data?
  17. Well that contradicts comms from IMG. Do you have an article or press release you could share?
  18. No that’s not how it’s working. They’re not ranking every single club in order. They’re giving A, B and C grades. If you’re grade A you’ll be in SL. If you’re grade B and you finish bottom of SL you could be relegated if the championship winner is graded B too.
  19. Any idea who was halfback in their game against Serbia?
  20. I’ve had a read and done some calculations. The part missing (or I’m blind) is the thresholds for Category A, B and C. Is this know? scratch that. This article says 7.5 for B and 15 for A https://www.skysports.com/amp/rugby-league/news/12204/12860710/rugby-league-grading-criteria-radical-new-proposals-voted-in-by-majority-of-clubs That means London will probably be category B. If they aren’t relegated in 2024, hard to see them being punted for a category A team. There will be other B teams in SL.
  21. There is little to no evidence of developing nations attracting (sustained) funding by getting into the WC. @gingerjon Why would I be delighted? Pre-covid the strategy was G20 nations targeted. Post-covid, we have no money and we need to build up our kitty to better support developing nations. If we hold another 16 team WC, we risk making another loss. Which means we never break out of the cycle. The IRL have come out very strongly and said there’s only 5 nations with 10k participants. We need to focus on building this up first. How? By better resourcing local development. To do that we need profitable WCs, because we aren’t an olympic sport and therefore governments give our members little to nothing. Again, the IRL’s data suggests that there’s only 5 nations with a turnover of £30k or more. That’s diabolical. How else do you fast-track development? By being ingrained in a country’s institutions.
  22. Yep. Terrible strategy. The RL villages have already consumed a hell of a lot of content. I don’t understand why we wouldn’t be looking to under-consumed markets.
