  1. I heard about the "unsupportive landlord" from a chap I was talking to at a game; his old man is involved in the youth setup at the Bears. He implied it was some old union boys that weren't happy with the Bears playing at the butts. Such a shame if true.
  2. Moseley(or rather Billesley) is not the greatest ground really and barely a step up I think. And another bit of a wilderness. It's not Moseley proper (but I am a bit biased having spent a lot of my twenties living and drinking in Moseley ). No, fair play to hurricanes. I'll definitely be going to a few matches.
  3. Although for the first year it will the warm up pitch, I am optimistically thinking that 2024 will be the main stadium, which will be a fantastic venue for League 1! However, as mentioned above, the area is without much character with poor public transport links - it's always been that way; even when we went to see the AAAs when I was a kid we drove. However off the M42 where they've been this year train links were even worse. For me however, from where I'm based, a 15min drive last season turns into a 45 min drive this. Bearing in mind I am a "local" supporter, walking to and from stations and getting the trains would be 2 hours each way. On a Sunday I can do Halliwell Jones in 3! So, to be fair, it makes the travel down the M6 a lot nearer for most away fans which is really good. Although 2022 was fun, I might find attending as many home games a bit trickier this coming season. I hope they do move up to the main park in 2024, as that will be far too tempting to stay away for!
  4. Gb beating the aussies at Wembley after shaun Edwards got sent off. I was a teenager. My dad had tickets and went, but didn't get me one!
  5. Right. I'm off for a gammon movement. Then need to wrap. Merry Christmas all.
  6. Is anyone familiar with Godwin's law? I think we need a new list of words which includes boomer, woke and gammon (unless the debate is about favorite type of pork produce perhaps)
  7. Why do you need a word for it? That just creates a confrontational, them and us landscape where you are already accepting you will never find a ground you agree on in the debate. It's cheap an the lowest form of debate. Remoaner, Brexiteer, boomer, woke. Lazy. I find if you replace "woke" with "not right wing" the context remains exactly the same.
  8. Oz is very different though (because of brexit sorry I'm naughty, I need to stop) I do think there is an opportunity there for the WNRL to rock up at the next Olympics and buy up all the sevens players off the podium if they want them and basically making women's union a bit irrelevant compared to them. But the trick is sustainable growth. I suspect v'landys knows what he's doing.
  9. Fair play. I am definitely an old man and the world is mad. Instantly if you say something it gets blindsided by judgements on your character or politics it seems. I justbthink grenade words like woke are awful for this.
  10. Ifair enough I'll stick boomer on the nonsense inflammatory language list, just below woke.
  11. I think the debate is what is the right amount. The trick is sustainable growth. There are obviously lots if informed people that have different views on what this means. As a comparison look at women's football in England. It barely registered 10 years ago. It had a lot of investment and this summer I watched a major women's final in a field with 3000 other people. However, as I understand it, the women's top flight competition is still unsustainable and making a loss.
  12. Agreed. As is much if the above. Including wokism, brexit and gammon.
  13. A realist brexiteer. Now there's an oxymoron. I'm sure I'll get cancelled for this post in the name of free speech.
  14. I think by using the term woke it plays the man (or the woman, or whatever someone identifies as ) rather than the ball. The article is obviously off season hack reporting, but there's some valid points in there too that could be argued against. Tossing words like woke and gammon in there immediately is the lowest form of debate. I don't even know what a woke or a wokie is. Is it something to do with wookies. ? Now the last few points above were all sensible debate. Please ignore me before we get dumped on the politics thread.
  15. Tried to contact them. But they've not got back to me yet days later.
  16. Has anyone tried to cancel their premier subscription? Now it's viaplay it won't let me, and the customer service contact form has provoked zero response from them. At the mo I'm thinking they are just ignoring me and trying to grab a but if extra cash from me.
  17. It was more about how the thread is confusing rather than the hurricanes. I am interested if they are moving as, although it would be a much better stadium, I think it may make it a bit more difficult to keep going. And yes Earlswood is in warks. But I reckon the portway "stadium" is just in Worcestershire. I think I crossed into Birmingham, and then back into worcestershire going under that little bridge getting to the getting to the little track that leads up to ground. (Bromsgrove has a B postcode but is definitely in worcs. ) Edit - I stand corrected. Just looked on the map and it is just, and I mean just, in Warwickshire. I reckon it's that close though that when you go for a p*** that's over the border in Worcestershire.
  18. This year they played in Portway, which is in Worcestetshire. I.e. not Birmingham. Just to add further to this confusing thread.
  19. I was just being silly, tbh. I think I tried to rip a joke from IT Crowd.
  20. If you type "Facebook" into Google, the internet breaks, I heard.
  21. The "circus" was the only place you could get a drink IIRC!
