  1. No really I'm asking a legitimate question that is becoming more and more relevant by the year (in all ways)
  2. The angle is that Joey's comments have not met with any kind of backlash (that I know of) If he or someone else said exactly the same thing in exactly the same way about a similarly overweight professional female RL ....would it be treated the same way?
  3. Ha ha...well personally agree a d I think he's fat for a pro RL player.... It opens up a different thing if women involved
  4. If you listen to the podcast/video they say both (or Joey dies) ...Joey explicitly talks about his weight (talks kilo too)
  5. Watching this (well worth watching as a show by the way....lots to like not least Danica!) Some quite open criticism of Shuster's 'fitness' and also openly critical of being too heavy Personally I think it's fine but.... Would they / could they do this of a WNRL or WSL player? Plenty of ex sportsmen have admitted eating disorders (Freddie Flintoff) etc so it is not just a female issue Again personally I think if you choose professional sport then everything of your lifestyle that affects your performance is up for debate ...be it smoking, boozing, weight, late nights etc
  6. I was thinking the exact same....some great memories of fuller crowds and competitive squads
  7. Much better I am loathe to say it but after 17 days now ( my new record) ...everything is better - everything - less anxiety / irritability - better sleep -lost 5 pounds with absolutely no effort - I look a LOT better, skin so much better already -enjoying watching sport on TV and live a lot more - I can concentrate more -enjoying music and telly more - saved loads of money - drank red bull / no alcohol beers and seen two live matches (one rugby one soccer)...done a mini break away with missus now a 3 day family break ****Ing annoying to admit it but I think I just need to try and be tee total ...I can't be a moderate drinker just like i cant be a nice be a moderate smoker or sports gambler (gave those up 9 and 15 years respectively)
  8. There is plenty of swearing on our heartlands too mate but I can't recall many interviews of players using such language Everybody knows when they can and can't swear ...even on field directly after a loss He's a flog
  9. 16 days no booze Still eating a tonne but have lost weight...weird
  10. I was certainly glad to see the back of McDermott-ball......can't argue with his record at the Whinos though
  11. Saw this too I really don't get how Rhinos aren't the biggest spenders.... I'm right in thinking they have the biggest overall income of every club right? A comparatively poor crowd last night ....maybe a be sign that past success is starting to look longer and longer away
  12. Though I agree with much of what you say it has to be said that Hardaker doesn't actually mess up ON the field ....he's been a very good player at every club he has been at
  13. I like it But each team should be a 'development' side only We really don't want first choice NRL players risked in meaningless rep games
  14. Interesting idea.....think we'd be watching a very different / lower quality SL each week
  15. That is truly unbelievable They had full access to this video and can watch it again again yet still think that is a ban Hilarious
  16. That's ridiculous.....plenty of people have the expectation to change careers over a 25 year mortgage lifetime
  17. At least one London venue should have been chosen Saints was ok as a Sunday out but Huddy was awful.....even simple stuff like not having the normal burger van outside etc
  18. People say the internet is so great and it's the future etc. This sort of thing proves it is decidedly limited in reality
  19. Lots and lots of people on here and journalists have presented it as some sort of game changer for rugby league If they mean....Rugby league will generate some more money for the gambling industry (and maybe a bit for themaelves) then maybe that is true But don't believe there will be many more fans or participants across the world as a result of Vegas (now or in 5 years) Now......If there were a well supported pro team in North America playing in SL or NRL ....or even a small well supported and stable semi pro league in North America .....then thay would truly be a game changer for Rugby league ....it would definitely result in more actual fans and participants of the sport Vlandy's and his team don't really care about RL at all....certainly not long term. They care about making as much money as they possibly can in the short to short medium term
  20. I always saw the problem of Toronto being so far away and was never fully convinced of it long term However.....one thing the situation had over Las Vegas by a country mile was each game they were getting 8000 ish mostly.local and new to RL fans ....who knows how many different people that us over a few years of attendances (10,000s?) It seemed in Vegas that it was existing fans watching in the crowd .... For me the former trumps it ....and the TV argument could just as easily made for it
