  1. Guys as a southerner and massive rugby league fan can I say that the vast majority (If not all of us) totally support all the traditional teams and want them all to be as successful as possible. The reality is although many expansion teams have failed in the current world its expand or die. Lets all expand this great game together:) Love and peace:) P www.atlantisradio.uk (We just played a John Lennon song:)))
  2. Evening Campers:) Amongst all the doom and gloom on here I have thought about this long and hard. When Cornwall County RU take 30/35/40000 to Twickenham does anyone think the vast majority are RU fans certainly not they go because its CORNWALL 90% could not give a Toss about the rugby. The Cornish pirates struggle to get crowds mainly because the rugby is to be blunt ###### I am certain that the masses that would follow the Cornwall brand would be easily hooked on league:) I actually think that Perez could be onto something here and wish them all the success in the world if Cornwall RL are awarded a Monday night match next season on Premier Sport I know that the wife would certainly take a punt with some sponsorship. Why do I know its because I have just told her to do it:))) GOOD LUCK I say Paul
  3. Here is my take on it (For what its worth:) For years i have personally thought that CORNWALL had the potential to become an expansion area for Rugby League. I remember attending a county championship rugby union final at Twickenham around 30 years ago (Over 40000 came from Cornwall no more than 500 from Yorkshire) The rugby was poor the atmosphere generated by the Cornish fans (Many young couples) was on par with anything I have seen at a CC or SL final over the years. This could be a masterstroke by Perez and I wish them all the best compared to other expansion attempts this one has legs:) They should ask Gwenno (Welsh singer that sings in Cornish) to make a club song:)she is fantastic. Paul
  4. I agree with that I thought Toulouse were poor and lacked fitness. P
  5. Not yet but looks like there will be later on in the season. Problem is that 3 of the teams do not have floodlights. So looking at late March onwards when the clocks go forward. Paul
  6. Any idea what time the press conference will be today? Paul
  7. Oh deal never mind the wife had purchased 500 tickets to the final for her corporate clients with 2 big events before and after the match + 2 shirt sponsorships for visiting teams With this and Toronto last year its been a bit of a ball ache however 100% commitment will still be there for next year:) Hopefully everything will be sorted out very quickly in terms of dates for 2022, key now is to have the final one week before the start of the World Cup and for this to happen we will need the NRL on side as if it happens again its sadly goodnight Vienna:( Rather than spend the next week on here being negative lets look to the future Paul
  8. After being forced into the Combined Counties League against our will, Beckenham Town we won our first match yesterday at home to Jersey Bulls (Who are pretty much the only team we need to beat this season) hopefully we will be out of it next season and back playing the likes of Whitstable Town/Herne Bay/Faversham Town/Hythe Town/Ramsgate etc and maybe Chatham Town or Sheppey United from our old league will join us. FA clueless bunch of muppets at our level ALL WE WANT IS LOCAL DERBIES :)))) Paul
  9. Yes its all very well people knocking the RFL however their record on expansion has been pretty damm good they have never shied away from welcoming new clubs and countries + new stadiums Let me remind the RFL knockers out there * Russia teams in the CC * French teams in the CC * Catalan Dragons Super League * Toulouse Championship * Last 40 years new teams (Ones still with us) in London (2) Coventry Sheffield Newcastle Wales ETC (Compared to new rugby union clubs in the top 2 divisions ZERO:) * Canada * Test in USA * Internationals in London * CC Final and MM in Edinburgh * Same as above in Cardiff * New stadiums Wigan/Warrington/St Helens/Hull FC/Huddersfield Giants/Salford Red Devils/Widnes/Dewsbury/Doncaster/Halifax/Leigh * Major upgrades in many stadiums * Women RL For what is perceived as a small regional sport the RFL have taken many more risks than the NRL with a tiny fraction of the income. YES there is much more that can be done however lets STOP being so negative. Paul
  10. If the players get their way Australia and New Zealand (Or even replacement teams come from down under) along with ALL the other countries coming from there we must make sure that they have a FANS standing ovation at each match no matter who one supports. Paul
  11. I am so sad about all of this. All of us on this forum are here for one reason ONLY we are RL fans. I personally discovered this game by accident in 1974 whilst working in Hull then after a lapse of a few years took an interest again in 1980 when Fulham entered Division 2 of the old championship. OMG there are a few scars out there when I was younger however I am still here and totally in love with this beautiful game ( And I am a pure born and bred Southerner living in Kent when I am in the UK) In my later years and happily having my wife run the 2 business successfully it allows me time to spend on things that I love Radio/Train set/Cricket/Rugby League The next few years of my life until I drop dead LOL all I want to see is RL progress in various countries around the world and 100% get back on its feet again in France we are very lucky that we have the ability to assist. Trent Robinson would be a godsend for FRL I cannot explain so much being in marketing how much he would mean to getting FRL back on its feet again. A successful France will have huge positive implications for RL in the UK. All I can say is we really do need this WC to happen personally I think the players want it to happen as we all do. Now is the time for the worldwide RL community to come together our hopes are with the fantastic players to stand up to this and make it happen. Paul
  12. The RLEF have done a brilliant job and as you say on a shoestring budget Marks from this headmaster 11 out of 10:) Paul
  13. Nothing wrong with a dream (I should know about that LOL:) Any new RL has to be encouraged but also has to be realistic, my own personal opinion of the proposed European comp is that it seems a little far fetched however if it does happen I wish it well. France has to be the No 1 priority at present. Paul
  14. These are classics Jacques Jorda had a brilliant one on his wall at Bar Wembley in Canet (1990 French Tour) he had some nice memorabilia in there,i gave him a framed Australia/New Zealand and GB shirts with some other odds and ends that I picked up sadly the bar closed last year as Jacques has retired the place holds so many fond memories truly the best RL bar and restaurant ever:) Paul
  15. Could not believe it upto 107K (Was 95 last year before lockdown) off the pop now at least until April 1st 5 mile walk everyday 2/3 runs a week whilst over here. if I can get back to Spain on January 19th will do some mountain hiking and swimming that usually does the trick aim is 85/90K by the summer. P
  16. I am hoping that Covid 19 will see off this crazy FA step system (One can only hope) After a 7-0 away win on Saturday tomorrow we are at home to Tunbridge Wells luckily we are restricted to 300 so no T/Wells fans allowed in ,sadly after they took 13000 to the FA Vase a few years ago around a hardcore of a dozen old oiks who used to follow Chelsea and lived in T/Wells decided that paying 7 quid on a Saturday and 3 pounds a pint was a better option for them P
  17. Last saw Canterbury City play last October (I was on my way back from Spain) and stopped off for the match v Beckenham Town which was played at Faversham Town with my 14 and 10 year old (Now work that one out Mick and Rod eat your heart out OLD SODS: LOL:) p
  18. Interesting (Good one for the Quiz night) my team was always Millwall first match I ever saw them play was v Bradford PA in the old Division 4. My friend Peter who runs a bed and breakfast in Herne Bay (I stay there sometimes when watching cricket in Canterbury) played in goal for Plymouth Argyle the day they beat Millwall at the den and ended our unbeaten home record around 50 + matches. Nowadays prefer my non league football fix LOL:) along with rugby league and county cricket PERFECT:) Paul
  19. I agree however we have to be realistic. In Kent many teams go back to the original Southern League in fact as a kid I remember Beckenham playing Canterbury City in a Kent Senior Cup match and Canterbury had just signed Ian Black who before had played for Scotland v England. In those days many Scottish players signed for Kent Southern League teams like Dover/Canterbury/Folkestone/Deal/Margate and Ramsgate as they worked in the Kentish pits. Paul
  20. Its been a bit of a bind with us the Northern League clubs refusing to step up when clearly they should have which is why so many have reached the FA Vase Final recently. 2 strongest areas for Non League Football without doubt North East and Kent. Paul
